  • This shows how much respect people have for those who have recieved the medal of honor, there 115 likes, yet not a single dislike.

  • handig ondertiteling :)

  • semper fi

  • The Medal of Honor is awarded only to the most badass soldiers you can imagine, these have had the balls to do what no other have even thought of doing, the LTC should have saluted as well as a sign of respect eventhough she didnt have her head covered cause she wasnt wearing gloves for those who like to go by Navy regulations.

  • @WilkenRuleZForeveR Sadly, if memory servers, most who do enough to earn the Medal of Honor are killed in the act that earns it.

  • @Blasted2Oblivion Even those that survive often feel survivors guilt since they personally think that either the men that died deserved it more or that they shouldnt have made it out anyway.

  • 0:40 the old dude was like, yeaaaaaah niggas!!

  • @meawins13 don't get mad cause you were wrong. Know what u are talking about before you comment. That's all.

  • i´d fall on my knees and beg for salvation :D

  • I don't think its a hard and fast regulation but the tradition is if one is covered, has a hat on, then they salute. Those that are uncovered snap to.

  • @Blain1971 Yep, that's part of it. There's also the reg that the Navy does not salute indoors. Comes from being in tight quarters aboard ship. Try saluting and you'll find you have permanently bruised elbows LOL

  • and who is it that see in to you sole

  • keen as in keen bore cleaner V

  • I love the salute, The old guys Just like 'Fuck yeah, respect me bitches!' Lol.

  • Happy Veteran's Day!

  • pwned ;)

  • What the fuck, man? Why the hate on McGee? He tried EVERY avenue available to him to find the rest of the men in Cpl. Yost's unit given his Top Secret clearances. McGee only searched for men in Yost's unit because NO ONE ever thinks about the Japanese who were there on Iwo Jima when searching for survivors from Yost's unit.

Notice how Gibbs never got angry or disappointed with McGee? That's because he knew McGee tried everything he could to find Yost's surviving squad mates.

  • Wow!

However distasteful this may sound, I loved how the 3 stooges's assholes puckered up as soon as Tony revealed the MoH and they snapped to good and proper! A tribute to the heroism of all MoH as well as VC recipients, not forgetting the brave soldiers who won various and many other distinctions in the line of duty.

  • Mcgees character is such a dumbass geek with no sense of anything

  • You guys over analyzing this scene, they saluted as a sign of respect , i dont think protocol applies to this situation.

  • @MarineCorps305 it is a sign of respect

  • And, I had to point out to someone, that Cpl. Yost is not the one who shows the MoH. Look closely and you will see that it is Tonys hand (sleeve color) that pulls the tie aside to show the Medal of Honor.

  • @mrgortram no durrrrr

  • Under the Department of the Navy, neither Navy personnel nor Marines salute indoors unless under arms. The MP's are under arms, and have their covers (hats) on. The Navy female commander is uncovered, meaning she is not under arms. If indoors, or in civilian attire, a salute is against regulations. Protocol for those situations is to snap to attention and face the object of respect.

    Almost all vets know this.

  • @mrgortram Great call.

  • THATS POWER

  • That officer should have saluted him also no matter what he did. He was wearing Medal of honor. As a vet I feel she was disrespectful to the man who won the nations highest honor. If not the man salute the medal.

  • Snap to Marines!!!!!

  • I dont get this what does that medal mean o.O

  • @Tony007corp What the Medal Of Honor? Look it up!

  • @Tony007corp It the highest award you can win in the america military, where you can only win it by going beyond the call of duty or in other words doing something extremily brave and heroic

  • @Tony007corp - Didn't you even watch the whole episode?

@Lightingwarrior - Just for pedantics, Gibbs said to Caitlin earlier, "You don't *win* the Medal of Honor, Kate. You're *AWARDED* it for conspicuous gallantry above and beyond the call of duty." Nobody ever *wins* the Congressional Medal of Honor.

  • @triplexxxsatyr Fair enough,

  • @Lightingwarrior Furthering the pedantics, he doesn't call it "the Congressional Medal of Honor", as you did. Probably because that's not what it is.

  • @thfpt I didn't call it the Congressional Medal of honor that was triplexxxsatyr, he was telling me that

  • @Lightingwarrior Yeah that's weird, as I hit the "reply" button. It should've gone to the other person, not you. I must have bad aim.

  • @thfpt No prob

  • In some odd way this clip always make me feel the honor and gives a slight tear in my eyes. I'm no fan of war but i do respect those who fight for their countries. Not those less who get medals for it saving lives, because war can save lives even i personally think there should be better ways to solve the problems.

    Semper Fi

  • This is made even more awesome because Charles Durning(Yost) has a silver star and three purple hearts from WW2

  • "Did i miss someone on his unit?" McGee

"No, all the marines are dead." Gibbs.

"These ones look alive!" Yosh! =]]]]]]

  • Damn straight you better step up marines your in the pressence of a ww2 veteran/ medal of honar recipient.

P.s. Watch that smile when the marines salute him

  • Hellz yah you better step up marines your in the pressence of a ww2 war veteran/ medal of honar recipient.

  • Damn straight they better have backed off and showed some respect to Yost, retired Marine and Medal of Honor recipent. Semper Fi.

  • No one would even dare to dislike this clip.

  • @checksandbalances0 No one would.

  • Durning himself said he almost never took this part because it was too personal and painful. I cannot think of anyone else in this role. His presence lent this episode palpable gravitas.

We're truly blessed he did do this part.

  • God McGee Is FIT!!!!

  • Yes generals will even salute a private if he was wearing a Medal of Honor..your not saluting the man or the his rank..your saluting his Deed...

  • @dfdmedic647 That is CORRECT. You are giving RESPECT to the individual for his act of BRAVERY that was ABOVE & BEYOND the call of duty. An action of HEROISM that was deemed at the HIGHEST perilous risk of his own life. Usually in combat action to SAVE the life/lives of another/others. ALL military personnel (REGARDLESS of rank) are REQUIRED to give such recognition and RESPECT to those who have earned this award. They have EARNED it throught their HEROIC deed. Semper Fidelis. Col. G. USMC.

  • Meawins13 sorry to tell you but you are wrong. (As the award citation includes the phrase "in the name of Congress", it is sometimes erroneously called the Congressional Medal of Honor; however, the official title is simply the Medal of Honor.)

  • @hawkeye1701 well, I tell you what, when YOU receive one THEN you tell me what it is "supposed"

    to be called, until then.........

  • do generals salute to an enlisted man if he's wearing a medal of honor? And why don't these MOH recipients get promoted to officer rank if it's such a big deal? dumb questions, but just curious.

  • @simboy418 some might get a battlefield commision if there high enough rank but rarely ever happens

  • @kingnick104 Battlefield commissions do not exist anymore. In wars past, they did. Now they do not. By order of Congress, ANY individual who desires to become an officer in the armed forces of The United States of America MUST possess a FULL college degree (Bachelor or higher). NO exceptions. This INCLUDES those of military enlisted ranks who earn the Medal of Honor. Col. G. USMC.

  • @simboy418 Answer #1, YES. Col. G. USMC.

  • @simboy418 Answer #2, No. It is a REQUIREMENT that to become a commissioned officer, you MUST possess a FULL college degree (Bachelor or better). The act of an enlisted military individual receiving the Medal of Honor for his act of BRAVERY that was deemed ABOVE & BEYOND the call of duty does NOT entitle them to an officer commission. His act of BRAVERY has already been recognized by his superiors & he has been given both recommendation & reception of this award. Semper Fidelis. Col. G. USMC.

  • @1zesty1 What about a battlefield commission, does it still exist?

  • @claudevsq Battlefield commissions no longer exist. In wars before, they were deemed aceptable for the brave deeds of the individual and based upon the needs of the mission. Those who displayed such acts of leadership and courage were given such commissions. Now mandated by Congress, ANY individual who desires to become an officer, MUST possess a FULL college degree (Bahelor or higher). NO exceptions. Remember, although some who earn the Medal of Honor may not be officers, they are all HEROS.

  • @TheRhysprice: She didn't salute because she wasn't wearing a cover (hat); you don't wear a cover indoors unless under arms (carrying a weapon), as the Marines with her are.

  • why didn't she salute?

  • Mcgee is smart yet so naive and stupid. just shut your pie hole probie.

  • you should've put the part in here where they show the Japanese soldier as well . that's the one part I've wanted to see . :/ . LIke when they first meet him .

  • I watched it yesterday night on german tv, it was so nice!

    for me the best episode

  • I know-he didn't get the MOH I've been told. Someone else said it and thats where I got it. I'm not going to say anything anymore.

  • My favorite video...Watch this all the time

  • I love when Tony pulls back his lapel and shows his MOH. Charles Durning was an actual MOH recipient.

This is my favorite episode of the first 2 seasons. I could watch it over and over again and not get sick of it. I absolutely love Charles Durning. And to the person who said that those who call athletes heros-I agree. They make millions of dollars and do their stupid dances or do other stupid things while those like Charles Durning have fought for our country.

  • @fishergrl78 no he was awarded a Silver Star and 3 Purple Hearts but is not a recipient of the MOH.

  • @fishergrl78 Charles Durning did fight in the war, however he wasn't a MOH recipient. From what I've heard/read he's gotten a Silver Star and something like three or four Purple Hearts. Speaking of that, I still regard him as one of my all time favorite actors and this scene just goes to prove it.

  • This is my absolute favorite moment on NCIS. I adore Charles Durning...and I can't think of another actor who could have brought such realism to the battle scene that comes after this. He went through so much as a 21 year old on D-Day. He is the living embodiment of HERO. It pisses me off when people call football and basketball players heroes. They are BALL PLAYERS...not heroes. Down from my soapbox now!

  • what episode is this?

  • I enjoy this episode. I wonder what brave soldier let NCIS use his Medal of Honor for the filming?

  • @94phenom is it even legal to make a movie prop copy of the CMH? Mr Charles Durning deserves to wear it any way.

  • @swastikausa Nope.. its illegal. If one is caught wearing the MoH then he can be fined up to $100,000 and face a year in prison. This of course, is only if the law hasn't been appealed.

  • Great scene ! I wish u wouldve put the whole scene in there with the Japanese soldier as well thought but great too .

  • I Love when Tony says "what's with the Olson Twins?" He is hilarious and make a joke in any intense situation.

  • greatest moment in ncis history

  • Charles Durning is the fuckin man!

  • My favorite moment!

  • I love this episode, watched it earlier this evening on British TV, had to watch it again here on Youtube. This is the best NCIS episode ever, the second best being the one where Ducky's mother calls Tony an "Italian gigolo."

  • 0:36-0:41

    yeah show some respect, bitches

  • Lol that's right. Salute the legend. Semper Fi, motherfuckers.

  • @glenakin

    hell yeah

  • This the BEST episode ever. I love all the shows, but Charles Durning was magnificient. I feel the entire cast (always good) hitched it up a notch because of Charles' performance. Bravo!

  • thank you i wanna see this episode

  • what episode is this

  • @KrowKnight its s02e07 "call of silence"

  • Possibly the most memorable episode of the entire series. Charles Durning turns in a top-notch performance. When his character dances with Kate, it's difficult to keep a lump from forming in your throat.

  • i love this scene :D

  • they may have done some research, but they should have delved further, Sailors and Marines do not salute in doors...note they are wearing covers indoors because they are on duty, but indoors the President doesn't get a salute

  • @masnjeff Actually Marines do salute when indoors so long as the conditions are met of being under arms and with cover on. I've seen it happen IRL.

  • Oh my God, I LOVED this moment!!! Thank you for uploading this!!!

    ...Tony is so genius.:):)

  • What is the name of this episode? I started to watch it on tv but had to leave for work and I'd love to finish watching it.

  • Ok 1. One dosen't win the medal of honor they are arwarded the medal.

#2 it's not the congressional medal of honor it's just the medal of honor.

  • @hawkeye1701 sorry, you are wrong about #2, Congress awards The Medal of Honor, thus

    The Congressional Medal of Honor.

There is also a civilian version called The Medal of Freedom, also awarded by Congress.

  • damn staright they salute, put President Obama infront of one of those, help put him in his damn place.... yes the Medal of Honor rates a salute from even the President

  • he's like damn right

  • Did we know...

Charles Durning (Ernie Yost) - Real life Sgt in Army Rangers. Veteran of D-Day Omaha Beach shown in Saving Private Ryan earned Silver Star and Purple Heart......later injured by German S-mine (bouncing betty). Recovered from wounds and then fought in the Battle of the Bulge....earned 2 more Purple Hearts....

Durning is a STUD by any measure.

  • @actonbath He was also one of the few survivors of the massacre of American troops by the German army, when they took American POW's and murdered them in the forest during the Battle of the Bulge.

On a lighter note, I've heard he's one hell of a ballroom dancer, too.

Charles During has been one of my favs for years. A true gentleman and class act.

  • this is my favorite episode of ncis! I love it!

  • @okaysoya whats is called?

  • @MilesMilitisOfLux it is called Call of Silence from Season 2, Episode 7

  • This is one of my all-time favorite episodes. Charles Durning as the corporal...the awesome emotion just seeing a Medal of Honor invokes...God bless all who have ever served our flag!

  • awesome scene! cant stop watching it lol

  • Damn straight you salute. You don't just get a Medal of Honor for nothing, a person like that deserves respect. Very powerful scene.

  • I get goosebumps all the time when i watch this!!

  • As do I

  • Alicia Coppola is so gorgeous in a uniform!

  • agreed, best episode!

  • this is the best episode of NCIS ever. Thats right motherfuckers, snap to attention and salute, before someone starts busting rank! That man faced an impossible enemy and still won!

  • Can't decide between this show and the one where Gibb's get's the challenger from his DAD!!!

  • the netherlands language is so ugly

  • I love when Tony pulls back his lapel and they salute him. Charles Durning was PHEMOMINAL in this episode. I think this episode was one of the best ever in the early seasons.

  • hell yea! it was mysterious and so sad too. but he was one of the men who was on Iwo Jima. where there were 4000 dead and 15000 wounded marines. and they still won. oorah Cpl. Yost

  • Comment removed

  • I love the scene where shows that Cpl. Yost is wearing the Medal of Honor

I tell ya I never saw those 2 Marines MP's Snap to Attention so fast

  • this is probably the best scene of that season and all members of the military salute a Medal Of Honor recipient they salute them as they do when in the prescense of the president

  • Agreed

  • @Gecko7291971 BEST PART OF THE EPISODE

  • @Gecko7291971 Well they know how to show respect to a hero when they see it, also the commander also stood to attention when she saw it

  • @Lightingwarrior True, But she was also supposed to Salute, seeing as she wasn't wearing gloves

  • @Gecko7291971 Well the TV show can't get everything right

  • This whole episode was fantastic. The subject of the Medal of Honor is not trod upon lightly.

  • i will always place the mission first.

    i will never accept defeat.

    i will never quit.

i will never leave a fallen comrade.

  • I am disciplined, physically and mentally tough,

Trained and proficient in my warrior tasks and drills.

  • A young soldier near where I live was awarded the MOH just recently. He dove on a grenade. He took the blast and died but it saved his platoon. President Bush presented the MOH to his parents.

  • He was awarded that medal posthumously

  • I am not in the military but even I would salute someone who was awarded the Medal of Honor. That is the ultimate award. Most people ever awarded it are never alive to receive it. To receive it you basically went throught hell and back twice and in most cases died to save another.

Ultimate respect to all those who have been awarded this.

  • @nytnt4u

I totally agree with you on this

It takes a very rare breed of service person to be awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor

  • Thanks for sharing this...The best scene ever...

  • Powerful scene.

  • Why didn't Commander Coleman salute? She stood at attention but did not salute...I thought everyone saluted a Medal of Honor recipient?

  • She didn't wear her hat.

  • I've read why this is at a couple of site on the net: By tradition the Medal of Honor is saluted by all personnel unless the military person is without cover (that is bare-headed). It's quite odd, actually, but hey, it proves that the producers do their research.

  • I can't remember where I saw it and who said, it was either Mark Harmon or Michael Weatherly, but apparently they have a real life NCIS agent(s) behind the scenes to help out the writers for ideas (like real life cases for inspiration for the show) and to train the actors on procedures.

  • @PressGangFan the have an actual NCIS agent who tries to help them stick to what really goes on at the actual NCIS not to mention the cast members do research as well

  • @PressGangFan If you noticed, Lt. Cmdr Coleman wasn't wearing gloves, so technically, she should've saluted as well

  • @PressGangFan I believe it's a sign or respect and honour those who won it

  • she wasnt wearing her hat therefore she has to stand at attention

  • amazing !!!! thnx for uploading this

  • Great scene.
