  • download link for song, please?

  • Comment removed

  • i installed ubuntu and it doesn't run EXE files so, i changed back to Xp

  • @Tharosa1942 That's what WINE is for...

  • @GangsterishDerek But that too cannot be downloaded because my Network connection's setup was in EXE. So I couldn't yank up my Internet connection.

But thanks for the tip (My laptop is f****ed up now, I should install 7 or Ubuntu)

  • @GangsterishDerek Wine will only install your internet inside Wine. It won't make contact with Ubuntu. Also, you need to have internet to install wine, and there is no standalone installer, since every program installs from the internet.

  • If only I knew how the heck you did that! If only I could read the over-pixelated letters! I'm trying to figure out QEMU! Ahhhhhhh! The secrets abound. Just finding how to get it is an adventure. BTW...keep up the music.

  • the main riff for the crappy music was most likely ripped from the song Burn It Down by Avenged Sevenfold.

  • @Mark742617000027 Uhmmm.. No this is a very old song. So perhaps Sevenfold ripped it off.

  • @histoplasmosis LOL. The song is pretty good actually. Has a good beat.

  • @Mark742617000027 This song was from the early 90's lmao.

  • Take your time linux :P

  • gay music................................

  • music atc-around the world

  • WHAT NAME MUSIC

  • WHAT NAME MUSIC

  • you have a really good desktop recorder xD!!

  • @singleisawesome Nah he just has a pretty decent computer for it to not lag.

  • @IchigoRukia09 whats the specs?

  • @singleisawesome I dunno but to make a computer not lag when running VMware etc, a quad core is recommended. I prefer Intel if you're going to do VMware stuff.

  • virtual machine

  • whats the name on the music

  • You can run Compiz in an virtual Ubuntu too..check my vids

  • and how about windows running linux mint 8?

  • @851Ferdian Should be possible you only need to install virtualbox or some other virtualization software.

  • @histoplasmosis vmware and microsot virtual pc?

  • @851Ferdian Virtualbox has support for 3d guests now and I beliee vmware has it as well.

  • Linux ftw. :D

  • @Hingir Yeah without linux we wouldn't have our precious "DVRs'

  • now my computer running windows vista , and my windows vista running Ubuntu 10.04

  • wow , i'm reverse it. so windows xp running ubuntu

  • @851Ferdian No! Ubuntu running windows XP.

  • @histoplasmosis is in my computer.. hello.....

  • @histoplasmosis opps wrong message...

  • how did you run xp from the terminal is that remote desktop?

  • @ronyaldoloco1 It was a virtual machine running, not remote desktop. I would use virtualbox instead of qemu now this video is quite old linux has progressed a lot since this was made. I will upload a new video soon of XP running under Lucid in seamless mode.

  • how do u get virtualbox on ubuntu 7.04 virtualbox doesnt suppport it and wine wont run on my intel pentium 3 processor plz reply

  • @MultiYippee You don't need wine to run virtualbox. They have a linux version availible on their site. Virtualbox is also in the ubuntu repos on newer versions of ubuntu or you can download the deb from their website

  • @histoplasmosis no but they dont have a version for ubuntu 7.04 fiesty fawn i have to use my dell to run 9.10

  • @histoplasmosis they only have a version for ubuntu 7.10 not ubuntu 7.04 im on this version right now

  • @MultiYippee This video is three years old they used to have a deb availible on the virtualbox page for 7.04 i'm sure you can still find one laying around. You could always just update your distro to a more current version as well.

  • @histoplasmosis was ubuntu 7.04 out at 2007 because my dads friend gave me a 7.04 version in 2008

  • what song is this

  • 'Around the World' by A Touch of Class. (About 10 years old.)

  • @spencezar666 ATC - Around the World

    its in the description jack

  • what song is this

  • How much power does Beryl burn off of your CPU?

  • cubedesktops?

  • I remember this song.. Never heard this song for 9 years!!!

  • can it run on my old computer?

    specs:

    1.1 GHz Intel Celeron

    512 MB ram

    180 GB Hard drive disk

    mx200 graphic card

    cpu overclocked to 1.6ghz

  • Yes absolutely. If you find the desktop version is too resource demanding you can install xubuntu which is a little lighter on resources. Also the next version is extremely fast 10.04 Lucid Lynx which is due out soon. There have been many updates since this video was made.

  • i doubt you will get compiz or virtualbox working without some serious resource hogging. however ubuntu will run decent-ish. you can use a lightweight distro, or trim some.. most of the install packages from ubuntu.

  • i have trouble with 9.10 on old PC , crucially slow, i think it may be wrong GPU driver, but i dont have time (and "animus" to do that)... currently i run 8.04 LTS (LTS i guess :D) it works fine. my PC is HP500 (laptop) i quite forgot the specs... :D

  • i guess so...

  • of course windows took forever to start LOL ... cool vid though =D

Ubuntu is the best... I have had it on all of my computers!!

  • nice vid, horrible music though...

  • no jodas jaja ino no simulo nadaa y el xp me corre muuuuuuyyy lentoo !!! pero pss 128 de ram es mas que suficiente para xp jaja

  • WHo IS This SONG?

  • atc around the world

  • What is ubuntu ?

  • It's a free operating system for your computer. Operating systems are what you use everyday like Windows or Mac's OsX etc....

  • not to mention the best os

  • this song is gay as fuck and ubuntu is gay as fuck why use a fork of a distro if you're going to do that use fedora. but debian is way better

  • I like your dancing mouse. :D

  • lol me to. :D

  • noob

  • ubuntu looks almost the same as windows, i never heard of it. anyone some info about ubuntu?

  • It's called Linux, look into it. Ubuntu is for Linux n00bs or lazy people. I have it on a laptop but run OpenSuSE 11.2 on my home computer.

  • What is the practical use of runing Windows XP through Ubuntu?

  • Running Windows applications like Photoshop?

  • running windows through linux is much more secure than running windows alone. meaning you won't catch many viruses if any at all

  • Not quite true - you're still vulnerable to all the viruses that the Windows OS has. If you mean using Wine, then that's OK, because Wine isn't compatible with most viruses, because they depend on various security holes in the OS, which Wine hasn't replicated.

  • Probably one of those "just because" videos.

  • well say you have a small drive and prefer ubuntu over windows but don't want to dual boot and leave about 10 gigs for each system but at the same time you just bought an ipod touch and want to add music to it running win xp in a vm would be the best way to do that

  • How many OSes can I install in virtual box ??

  • as many as you can create virtual drives for

  • what is the song?

  • yea...whats the song?

  • @swisscheesepotatochi : The song it's called "ATC - Around The World"

  • How you do it?

  • I was running virtualbox which is a free virtualization software. It emulates a PC and you can install whatever OS you want inside of the virtual pc. Then you install Guest Additions and can switch to seamless mode.

  • hey i know this song! just dont know why

  • Microsot isn't a professional boxer though. Just a good knowlegde of where to get dopings :)

  • what is the song?

  • atc- around the world

  • thx

  • We need a Good operating system which will support all drivers and softwares .. In the video it looks good that Linux has good Animated screen. but think in real what it can do ? will it support finger print authetication ? can a new Mobile phone connected and browse for files ? we dnt want to search for all packages in internet to enable something ... To compete with Windows OS in desktop market Linux flavours has to try more and more.....

  • it does its best without large funds which big corporations have. Think of it: it's FREE and it's as almost usable as COMMERCIAL products.

In a fair competition (it hasn't 50.000 paid staff) it wins. It's like a 8 y.o. kid almost knocking down a professioanl boxer. It's worth praising.

  • Actually, Linux is commercially funded by Red Hat, IBM, Canonical and Novell, to name a few. Mostly in the server market though, but the desktop users get the increased stability required by servers. :)

  • muthusaj, you are absolutely incorrect!

My laptop came with a finderprint reader, i formated the entire HD on it, installed F11 on it and it recognized it right away (on windows, you would need to install 3rd party software that costs money).

Secondly, my LG VU is recognized AS A CELL PHONE (unlike windows which thinks its just a usb flash drive). and supports Internet tunneling! (on windows, i can only Imagen the headache trying to get it to work)

    Your points are completely inaccurate!

  • name the music plees

  • can someday ps3 can run windows xp directly please someone tell me....

  • nope.... maybe..... yes.....

although it would require ALOT of tweakining in windows xp to get all the ps3 drivers to work.

  • yes... i think you are right ... but you know what i think about ps3 now its just a toy.. and nothing elsee ... by the way thanks for the reply.

  • Ubuntu 7.04

    ROCKS!!!!!!!!

  • Ubuntu 7.04 was so light.. WTF happened. Now Ubuntu is a fucking hog. My computer with 256 can no longer handle it.

  • @JamesManes Yeah on my Pentium 3 with 320mb ram ubuntu 7.04 ran smoothly. Now with ubuntu 10.04 I wait like 2 minutes just to get to the place where I type i n the password.

  • i also have windows xp

  • ok if you Intel-V or AMD64-V use KVM or other acclreators such as KQEMU or QVM

  • Ubuntu is the slowest linux ever made but have you ever tried a NORMAL linux? If you can show me a faster boot, then a debian's or gentoo's kde3 with kdm autologin enabled, then I believe you.

    Sh!tdows FTL.

p.s.: You'll never even find a free compiz or kwin4 clone, but for which you pay, even eats tons of ram and cpu

And I don't think, that in windows this one will ever work: apt-get (or yum or etc) install compiz amarok krusader ktorrent amsn (...) 1 comand= 4 first class software without ads.

  • If you make your own Linux distro specifically designed for your computer then you can get it to boot up in 10 seconds on a 2GHZ duel core CPU with 1 GB of ram.

It only uses 60MB of ram and 40MHZ CPU when IDLE and using Fluxbox.

    Now thats fast!

Windows xp used 200 MB ram and 400 MHZ when IDLE. :-/

Windows Vista used 500 MB ram and 900 MHZ when IDLE. :-/

Sorry Microsoft but that is SAD!

  • espero no sea algo malo pork me quitas la ilisuon, pendejo

  • Así que usted debe saber que la mayoría de las personas que utilizan el Inglés no entender español. También me acaba de expresar mi opinión.

  • lol... my vista used about 1 gb when idle... but now i dumped the dual boot shit and im using linux only :)

  • OUCH! I can't believe I got -2 rating just because of that comment.

I am not going to hate on microsoft though, Windows xp is a good OS but its unstable and very prone to bugs.

Linux has its catches too. Its complex for non power users to get used to linux as you have to use the terminal if something goes wrong. In windows if something goes wrong you just get a new computer.

and what is funny is MOST computers sold today have windows preinstalled.

  • My XP "boots" in less than 5 seconds, it's all about configuration

  • Dang! You either have a VERY fast computer or a VERY limited windows xp.

I bet you can't get it to boot up that fast with Vista.

Also take note that xp and vista start services in the background so it looks like it is already booted up but its not. lol Cleaver Microsoft.

  • Yeah only way XP can boot within a couple of seconds is by using sleep and disabling a ton of services. Ideal for netbooks. Does Ubuntu support "sleep mode" as well? i.e. keeping power to the ram while switching all else off, never really looked past knoppix and DSL myself

  • Yeah I can understand that.

I am not going to lie to people, linux is for geeks.

If something goes wrong you have to know how linux ticks to fix it. lol

But if you love programming and trying new things like me then linux is great! lol

Almost all linux distros have a sleep function but not all computers support it.

The sleep function may be helpful in some cases but it writes the entire session to the hard drive so I can imagine that it would decrease the life of your hard drive. lol

  • I am not like most linux users. I don't hate windows. lol

Windows and linux are both good operating systems but windows is very limited to what you can do with it.

Windows uses registry keys and DLL's to change things but linux uses shell commands and scripts. lol

I kinda wish more developers would make games for linux. (One of the reasons why I currently program in linux).

The other thing I don't like about linux is the lack of documentation on C or C++ libraries for linux. :-/

  • I'm calling it "sleep" but I think it's called "standby", the ram does preserve its power. I wish I knew more about linux. I understand directx isn't supported as it's from MS itself, but what about openGL? Must be a reason why it's called open..

Both have advantages and disadvantages, though. I mean by using DLLs you don't have to write everything from scratch. I like linux because compared to IIS it's easy to run an apache, PHP and a mysql server within a couple of minutes

  • OpenGL is for windows and linux but Directx is Windows only.

I like linux because i can do anything with it.

Windows uses DLL's but linux uses binaries and scripts to run programs.

I am currently making my own linux distro with LFS and so far its a pain but its going to be worth it.

  • I hope the future will bring us some good things. There are programs out there to "slim" down XP from scratch, I once had a 150mb xp. The future will hopefully get us to a point where I can just click things I want to be included in a linux distro and the custom ISO will be there to run directly from a USB stick, instead of the ext2 filesystem crap

  • I personally like ext3 because it reduces the damage on your files if you have a crash. lol

a portable windows xp would be awesome. lol

  • Does ext3 have a lot of error correction built inside of it? I'm not a big fan of ntfs but it's the only decent FS that allows huge filesizes while ext3 has a relatively low filesize limit that will be reached in the next couple of years (16gb I think it was), so you won't be able to write 25gb bluray ISOs to your HDD. I've experimented with a USB XP version but the boot gets to me every time.. Linux has syslinux to back it up but windows has only boot.ini which makes it impossible to do anythin

  • ext3 is a journeld file system so the files never get fragmented so thats why its faster for errors to be fixed then an NTFS file system.

if you have to have BIG files then use xfs instead of ext3 but it will be slower with smaller files.

Why are you writing blueray ISO images to your HDD? I think someone is mischievous! lol

I have NEVER used more then 10GB in the lifetime of a HDD.

hm... I didn't even know where was a portable xp.

Linux and Windows both have their problems.lol

  • Well no one thought we'd be exchanging 8gb double-layer DVDs over the internet a couple of years ago, so in the next couple of years it might become possible to exchange bluray ISOs. I don't understand the journaling of an HDD completely, but I'm sure fragmantation does occur, otherwise a lot of space gets wasted because files don't fit in between 2 other files, or the disc is constantly moving files which shortens the life and is a waste of power. So how does it work?

  • This is very true.

I think some fragmentation occurs but not nearly as frequently as in windows.

After all generally speaking linux is smaller then windows. lol

  • Well depends on the distro if you ask me. I've never seen a linux as big as a 15gb vista, but Ubuntu can get pretty bloated at 4~5gb. Although on a 1tb HDD like most people have nowadays, both are barely noticeable. It's mainly drivers which are hardly ever accessed so it's a good thing the harddrive isn't constantly crunching. I don't think I'd mind using linux.. I would definitely miss Office, Spartan and.. probably the real MSN. I couldn't live without Spartan, it costed €100!

  • Yeah thats why I hate Vista and Ubuntu.

A clean linux distro can be made with all the needed tools in only 100MB.

I find hard drives to be slow and eat up a lot of electricity so when i am not making any drastic changes to the linux distro I boot the 100MB distro into ram as to increase speed. The only downside to this is all data is lost.

Open Office is free for linux.

I have never hard of Spartan. o.0

They have a chat client that supports ALL chat protocols called Pidgin that works great.

  • Yeah, Damn Small Linux was made to run on a 64mb disk, I tried it and it's all right. Serious lack of drivers though! HDDs aren't that bad you know, mine uses like 2W so wutever. I would miss Microsoft office because I don't like OO, and Pidgin looks like it's from 1999 so I was never a big fan. I'm just rusted solid. Spartan is a molecule simulation program for calculating quantum chemistry, they're said to have linux releases but never really looked into it. Don't you miss windows software?

  • I know HDD are not bad. Its just my hard drive. lol

    Its noisy and old. lol

Spartan sounds VERY interesting but I cant imagine a practical use for it unless you are learning advanced quantum physics.

If you indeed are then I applaud you because I am still a Junior in high school. :-/

I am an at home computer programmer so no I don't miss windows one bit. lol

But I have recently started taking up OpenGL for python so I can make 3D games. xD

I like an OS that I can build on.

  • Well I happened to be a chemistry student so there's your application. It helped me a lot to understand the structure of hydrocarbons, although it can render basically anything; including huge strands of DNA and 2000+dalton proteines. I should probably look for another molsimulation program one day. Don't you hate typing the whole DPKG command just to install a program, though? I somewhat admire MAC and WIN for their double-click installers without the need of the shell

  • lol dpkg is USUALLY only for commercial linux distros.

I use GCC, make, and make install for installing packages. lol

  • GCC? Is it capable of directly installing tarballs? Some distros have a built-in installer, but I never really looked past all the knoppix related ones

  • sorry if my previous answer didnt have much info on fragmentation as I am still learning about linux so mind me.

I will use a visual comparison to make things easier to explain for me.

When windows wants to defragment the hard drive it first dumps all files into one big pile and then quickly stuffs it into the closest folder so its just a big jumbled mess.

In linux when you boot up all files are automatically checked and sorted individually into their correct locations so its neat and tidy.

  • A "pile" is just a visualisation, though. If this neatness affects the random seek time, then I'll admit it. But seeing as both FSs hold a table of content saying where the data is, the seek time should be identical. I guess copying on ext2 and ext3 is slightly faster. Although in real life situations where thousands of small files are moved about (internet cache, gaming, etc), I think both filesystems offer the same performances. Why can't there not just be one uniform FS D:

  • lol

  • why lol?

  • Looser... You don't know for emulators? LoL! WTF? I mean... Compiz in Linux and XP (SP1) in Emulator... FFS -.-

  • You know your life is pathetic when use "lol wtf" in a sentence and finish it with "ffs" :)

  • Hehehehe, nah... :D

  • Da para emular o linux no windows tambem

  • what is the name for the song?

  • atc - around the world

  • thx

  • it takes 5 seconds

  • not when it comes to stability and system resource usage, and im not being the loser if your the one who is losing your temper over a computer operating system, and about people saying Linux isn't stable that's only because you don't know how to use it, i don't even know how to use it

  • Wow you looser. You cant even get the naming right. There is no Ubuntu 7.0. 7.04, and 7.10 yes. Damn windows fan boy. Any computer would be about $100 cheaper if you used Ubuntu/Linux. You are clearly just a mouse pusher who just wants youtube, email, and porn. Anybody above your caliber of computer usage would appreciate Ubuntu for the flexibility it offers against shit-doze.

  • Windows is better than ubuntu

  • Hey everyone, look! It's an average computer user who uses his computer for email and youtube!! Don't be flaming a superior operating system. Go back to your closed-source faggotry.

  • He is a n00b who have the computer filled with vírus, do everthing extremaly slowy and is a gay mouse-pusher- if you ask him "what does Ctrl+Alt+Del", i'm sure he will don't know...

  • epale como lo descargo

  • virtualbox

  • every server has its role

    linux-ofice thingys,for programers

    microsoft-for gaming,and editing

mac-i forgot, ther used to be somthing, but i simply forgot it (i apologize to mac users)

    i am on Windows XP

  • linux server is better for games because it uses less system resources and it is more stable

  • yeah, but windows is ultimate for gaming

and mac is editing (photoshop, and shit)

    and i forgot what

Windows and apple are kinda related

    they r verry comaptible

the best is to use linux to make a program, windows to test it,and Mac to refine it

  • no mac and Linux are more alike because they both use the UNIX kernel, and making programs in any OS is good, its windows for gaming and office work, mac for videos, and Linux for servers

  • Linux and Mac are basically cousins. If you know one, you almost know the other.

  • thanks for that i have the song i love this song so much i repeat it every day

  • i love this song and that fancy affect can u tell me and others wart the song is?

  • ATC- Around the world

  • this windows Xp is very low to turn off. Just see

  • no doubt linux is the finest OS till now, I have been in microsoft, and they still run their servers on linux :D

  • rofl linuxpwnt :D

  • quise decir video y rola y pasame le nombre de la rola

  • ATC - Around the World

  • la rola y la cancion estan chidas como se llama la rola por fa

  • i want to try and run windows and linux on my mac. would be fun

  • ATC - around the world

  • como se llama la cancion??

  • English only please.

  • He said "What song is it?"

  • ala verga pendejo

  • ATC - En todo el mundo está la canción

  • he said "ATC - In all the world is the song" perhaps a translation issue who cares anyway. i want to find this song pretty nice.

  • lol wtffff

  • nice song ^^

  • how do you get your computer to run both operating systems. im trying to get mine like that since my printer and other stuff are not compatible with lenuix

  • what are the specs?

  • P4 3ghz.

  • I am running an old compaq with a sempron 3000. It has ubuntu, and I want a copy of windows for some projects at work. Do you think windows would run faster on a dual boot, or would it be worth me running it virtually? I am going to load windows on it after work, I just don't know which I should do.

  • Its plenty fast for work related stuff. Just don&#
