★Gainkokujin is mainly used in writing or in a formal situation.
So Gaijin is not a racism word at all like she said.
★But Some foreign people are doing the discrimination business to gain money and political power, in Japan. Many of them are Korean illegal immigrants.
Others are some Chinese, Americans,,. and the like.
They always make up a fake discrimination and racism story
like that Gaijin is a racism word or that Japanese discriminated Ainu, , blablabla.
@pooptickler1337 . Nigger is a word used to discribe a specific race of people, and it was used as slang in a negative way. Gaijin is a word that in English means forigner, and is used in the same way as the word forigner. Nothing insulting.
I actually think the word "Foreigner," in English is more racist than saying "gaijin," because there is the expectation in the west of being connected to our home country instead of an outside group.
I think "gaijin" is racist if used in a racist or stupid context such as "GAIJIN ARE ALL DRUG CARRYING CRIMINALS THAT SMELL BAD AND ARE ALL TOO STUPID TO POSSIBLY UNDERSTAND OUR SUPERIOR CULTURE." Exaggeration.
I actually refer to myself as gaijin in Japanese. It's just easier.
to be honest, ever since i was a kid, i have only seem it being used as an insult.
i know its not an insulting word, but its just like any country when you refer to a foreigner.
it could be used like "that foreigner who moved in upstairs" or "those damn foreigners taking our jobs" its not the word thats insulting, its whatever context its used in
@310BPM . Thats right. Its a normal word till someone puts it in a dirogatory way, everyword is like that. Person. Stupid person. Person isnt a dirogatory word lol, but when used this way its a insult.
"The reality is when you go to another country you weren't born in, you're a foreigner." - except Canada.

Nigger comes from Negro, which is Spanish for black.
It's not insulting to be a Gaijin, but it is insulting to be a nigger... WTF!

Who cares? Fuck anti-racists. Racist is a black and white term. It's just terminology.

You talk like you have a sock in your mouth. Also, you should raise your voice a little bit to make yourself clear. Anyway, I agree with you.

I'm a yonsei... but pretty much a gaijin. I wish I knew of work programs to move to Japan.

Looking at wikipedia did answer it all, it depends on the point of view.

@DExUS5
it doesn't, really, though.
it depends on who uses it.
if some old salaryman calls me a "dirty gaijin, etc." and means it to be offensive, it's offensive.
but i call myself a "gaijin" regularly because i am technically an "outside person", which is all it means.
