Thanks so much for your heart felt comments. The photos and captions were provided by the owners and I simply put it together into a video to share. I think anyone who has ever owned a kuvasz will recognize themselves and their dogs in here, no matter what age. The "problems" our kuvasz cause over the years get more sophisticated, but they still make us smile like the very first day they arrived in our home and in our hearts..
The first time I viewed this was 2 weeks after my Kuvasz was diagnosed with osteosarcoma. Although it inspired me, it also tore me up! I now have 2 more, because it takes much to fill all of the places a Kuvasz opens in the heart!!! I LOVE THIS!
One day I will have my own Kuvasz... My Kuvie mix has captured my heart like no dog ever has and I attribute that 100% to the part of him that is Kuv. (I've never been a dog lover.... until now!)
LOL. I was really worried at the intro, because I am bringing our 8 week old puppy (a boy) from the breeder next week. I thought the concerns are genuine and that my research for acquiring one was totally wrong. But now I know that our family decision was 100% correct.
This is a great little video. What a love! I have been researching these pups and this is why! Doesn't get any better. My fave is the fact that he seems to lack spirit and any ability to get into trouble. WHAT a face! :)) X Oh! Gail, it looks like this is your brood. Hi again!
You would be amazed at the number of homeless kuvasz, Great Pyrenees, Akbash, and Anatolian Shepherd Dogs waiting to be adopted. Send me your zip or postal code and I will give you the closest contact for a white flock guard.
@gailsdash I live in Britain. The only white flock guards here are pyres and marema.I already have two Kangal (Anatolian) and a Central Asian shepherd,Terrier and Border Collie. But I still would love a Akbash, Kuvasz,Tatra, etc. Thanks for the kind offer tho.
@gailsdash I would love to know of any Kuvasc rescues in New England --- I did find a young great pyrenees bolting through my neighborhood a few years back, his leash trailing behind him---I was able to find his owner and found that he was a rescue dog----what a majestic animal!
If I ever got a Kuvasz, I'd want to name it something Hungarian (Hungarian word for bear most likely). That's just something I try to do with pure-breds. Name them something that both describes them, and shows my respect to their original country, or region, for breeding such a wonderful dog! =]
After having her for 16 years, our siberian husky Dakota passed away in March 2008. 34 hours later, my parents brought three month old Toby into our lives. Two years have passed and he has grown so much, and is the perfect dog for our family when we never thought we would find another. Everything you said above is true-enjoy every second of it. You all deserve it. God Bless.
I also have one ... in fact it is the second Kuvasz and I can only say how impressive it is to live with one. Django is my best and great friend. Congratulations! is precious
Yo también tengo uno...de hecho es el segundo kuvasz que tengo y sólo puedo decir lo impresionante que es vivir con uno. Django es mi mejor y gran amigo. Enhorabuena! es precioso
Nice video very cute but Kuvasz are also very good guard dogs. Their flock guardians by nature so basically they were originally bread to protect farmers sheep from wolves. Because of this they bond very closely with their own family and tend to be independent thinkers and distrust outsiders.
