Containing sneezes could result in a fatal brain aneurysm...no need to contain them...but on a more serious note, saying 'bless you' originated hundreds of years ago when people believed when someone sneezed they were expelling demons...I mean seriously people, STOP SAYING IT...there are NO demons, and if there are, they're not going to come out in a wad of snot.

I haven't really heard anyone saying that except my brother, and he only says it rarely. Where I come from it doesn't even have anything to do with blessing, it literally means "for good health" or just plain "for health".

I can't sneeze silently, and even worse, when i sneeze, jesus christ, do i make a lot of noise.

But something about the phrase "Bless you" or other such ones makes me ...well, i don't like them, either. So i don't say them.
