The time he spent with the Misfits spans about 6 years. And he's been producing solo material for 27 years.

I love the Misfits, and I'm a snob too, I only listen to the Danzig misfits. But he's obviously over that stage in his life, and I won't discredit nearly 30 years of his solo career by thinking he and the Misfits are synonymous.
