@chucknorrisworshiper The coaches are very biased in their rankings. Look at Saban. He ranked Okie Lite much lower than deserved to help make sure Bama went to the National Championship. Not to mention, coaches rarely fill out their own ballots, usually their sports information directors do it for them. Who cares anyway? If you're not in the MNC or Rose Bowl, it doesn't really matter.
Also, there are some students there who were accepted into AA and transferred out because they couldn't stand the atmosphere (I have a few friends that did that). Other students complete their undergrad at either of the two satellite campuses (again, to save $), then are able to transfer to AA to earn their graduate degrees because the credits are transferable between campuses. A large majority of professors teach at AA AND at Flint or Dearborn. I could go on. Point being, don't generalize.
For the couple of jackasses saying that students who attended Flint or Dearborn "don't count," you don't know what you're talking about. You don't know why they decided to attend there. Sure, there are some who couldn't get into AA right out of high school or were deferred, but I know of several students that chose to attend there because of the cheaper tuition and/or because they had to work while attending school.

I went to MSU for chemistry and I went to Wayne State for pharmacy. I never ONCE wished that I went to U-M and did equally as well or better than my U-M counterparts in my chosen profession. An engineering/education/communications/business degree honestly doesn't mean shit from any school unless you know someone or are insanely smart. We med students like to call those "uhhh degrees" because whenever you ask someone what their post-collegiate plans are they go "uhh...i dont know yet." and that goes for both msu and um students. Sucks to suck but it's reality.

As for the girls, parties and "fun".....at the end of the day those are not good reason's to pick a school. First and foremost should be education and in that regard Michigan does very well in certain fields.
As for the student's and "arrogance" you must consider who gets accepted to Michigan versus who gets accepted to MSU. You won't find many 3.2 or 3.4 students at Michigan.

U-M is Ann Arbor and Ann Arbor is U-M and there is no clear boundary between town and campus. I worked as a retail pharmacist in AA and I tell you they need to put prozac in the water in that town. I never saw so many drug addicts and weirdos in my life, and the students' attitudes just sucked.
@slipshaft The problem with Michigan is they think themselves the Harvard of the Midwest. Michigan is a public school but it act's like ivy league. Michigan State on the other hand never can get over the fact they are not Michigan and I think a lot has to do with Michigan grads always reminding them of their far "superior" education.
The reality is Michigan academically is a tougher school, and having that piece of paper that says Michigan Graduate on it will in most fields get you further.

@chucknorrisworshiper The coaches are very biased in their rankings. Look at Saban. He ranked Okie Lite much lower than deserved to help make sure Bama went to the National Championship. Not to mention, coaches rarely fill out their own ballots, usually their sports information directors do it for them. Who cares anyway? If you're not in the MNC or Rose Bowl, it doesn't really matter.

Also, there are some students there who were accepted into AA and transferred out because they couldn't stand the atmosphere (I have a few friends that did that). Other students complete their undergrad at either of the two satellite campuses (again, to save $), then are able to transfer to AA to earn their graduate degrees because the credits are transferable between campuses. A large majority of professors teach at AA AND at Flint or Dearborn. I could go on. Point being, don't generalize.

For the couple of jackasses saying that students who attended Flint or Dearborn "don't count," you don't know what you're talking about. You don't know why they decided to attend there. Sure, there are some who couldn't get into AA right out of high school or were deferred, but I know of several students that chose to attend there because of the cheaper tuition and/or because they had to work while attending school.

Shut the hell up about degrading other big ten academic programs as all the schools are public ivy league institutions (minus Nebraska). State is not just full of people who couldn't get into Michigan and I know many Spartans who turned down Michigan to go to MSU. Michigan deserves to be respected but someone who graduates from Wis, Purdue, MSU, etc deserve the same respect

I got an awesome education at MSU and the fact that you need a higher GPA in HIGH SCHOOL to get into U-M means NOTHING! I actually went to community college for my first 2 years and I'm glad that I did, but MSU made it easy for me to obtain a world-class education and climb the ladder to success.

@slipshaft I never said you didn't receive a good education at Michigan State. I simply said that a Michigan degree is held in higher regard in the majority of fields. The higher GPA requirement show's academic rigor and "competition" at that particular school.
It can also be used as a gauge in terms of personalities.....hence the attraction of perceived "arrogance". But where you see arrogance they see higher intellect and higher standards.

I went to MSU for chemistry and I went to Wayne State for pharmacy. I never ONCE wished that I went to U-M and did equally as well or better than my U-M counterparts in my chosen profession. An engineering/education/communications/business degree honestly doesn't mean shit from any school unless you know someone or are insanely smart. We med students like to call those "uhhh degrees" because whenever you ask someone what their post-collegiate plans are they go "uhh...i dont know yet." and that goes for both msu and um students. Sucks to suck but it's reality.

@slipshaft Aesthetically I would say Michigan has the better campus but practically MSU's layout is better. As for the girls, parties and "fun".....at the end of the day those are not good reason's to pick a school. First and foremost should be education and in that regard Michigan does very well in certain fields.
As for the student's and "arrogance" you must consider who gets accepted to Michigan versus who gets accepted to MSU. You won't find many 3.2 or 3.4 students at Michigan.

U-M is Ann Arbor and Ann Arbor is U-M and there is no clear boundary between town and campus. I worked as a retail pharmacist in AA and I tell you they need to put prozac in the water in that town. I never saw so many drug addicts and weirdos in my life, and the students' attitudes just sucked.
I'm still way glad I went to state. PERIOD.

@slipshaft The problem with Michigan is they think themselves the Harvard of the Midwest. Michigan is a public school but it act's like ivy league. Michigan State on the other hand never can get over the fact they are not Michigan and I think a lot has to do with Michigan grads always reminding them of their far "superior" education.
The reality is Michigan academically is a tougher school, and having that piece of paper that says Michigan Graduate on it will in most fields get you further.
