  • will anyone tell me how to get my book cover art done for nanowrimo. my nano name is sammieseagull

  • @sammieseagull Cover art? for a novel you're just starting this year, or for one you finished already?

  • I'm way behind. It's the end of day 13 and I've only written like 6,000 words. I'm really busy with exams in school, so now I have to write like 2,435 words a day for the rest of the month! I'm losing my mind! I'M TOO YOUNG TO LOSE MY MIND!!!!! Or am I???

  • SWEET! I just heard about it the week before, and I'm so glad I did! I'm having a lot of fun with it too. I'd say what my word count is, but I'd rather obstain from using a certain youtube poop meme that's going around. I'm still under the double-digits.

I really hope you're having as much fun as I am, and that everyone is having as much fun as I am! nd you are funny.

  • This man needs help!!

  • the month is almost over, how's that novel going hmm, has it got loveable characters hmm? no no I won't go there :) you been working on that novel for about a month now so how's that going for ya hmm? (I hope you know where I was going with that or I just sound insane which is better than sane I guess but yeah it was a real question none the less)

  • i was about to join nanowrimo but it's national NOVEL writing month. i'm not writing a novel. i'm writing a script.

  • there's Script Frenzy, which I think is June

  • sweet. cause i'm writing a noir film.

  • Cool man, I actually did a photo shoot in a noir style a while back that I wanted to turn in to a script. So who knows we may both end up writing a noir Screen play.

or I'll sell out and write a will farrell movie, who knows.

  • April.

  • is this november of ever year because I only found your channel today and do you have to be living in america to take part or do you just have to be living in america to win if that's if it is a competition? I would really like to enter because I have started several stories and just never finished them because I've shown them to people I know and never had any real interest but I think if I put in for something like this there'd be a broader spectrum of people and someone might like my stuff.

  • Yep it's every November, and while it started in the US, people do it all over the world.

  • kewl thnx man I sent u a message with an idea for what to do with ur book too =D not sure if it'd be any help or if you've already considered it but ye check it out

  • You rock

  • thats really cool. what kind of stories do u write?

  • I'm assuming that wo0zip00ns and ranakatina1004 are replying to my message if not meh lol

    to wo0zip00ns:

    thanks you rock too ^^

    to ranakatina1004:

I mainly write fantasty type stories but I generally mix them with military type stuff. if you've anything from "garth nix"s old kingdom series it's similarto those with the fantasy/military mix.

  • Nanowhata!? Lol. I think i might make a good childrens book writer.

  • Man you got mi interest in writing back. I had not only given up writing but hope for a future, maybe I should try to write again! thanks man!

  • it is now day 17 and i have started over. oh joy.

  • when's your next video coming up...btw I'm getting a camcorder here soon so ill be able to post some vlogs and VR. anyway take it easy bro

  • I started writing too :) because I think your cool. and because Ive always wanted to write something, and now I kinda have a reason.

its gonna be really bad anyway cause im actually dutch and im writing in english. so this is going to be a real challenge!

    interested, my number is 258738.

comment me for some tips or grammatical things :)

  • 16 days, 50k words, not a problem. Bringing my A game Sam, you better be too.

  • Oh snap, good stuff! I'm basically getting the bulk of my writing done on the weekends... so I'm gonna need the full time span

  • I redecided. i have no clue how i will get 50,000 words done when i only have 19 out of 30 days, but its okay if i lose i guess. my number is 257945.

  • Well give me your real phone number if you got tha ballsss :P

  • Wow... its day 11 now, but next year i'm definetely going to try to do this.

  • Soo, I know there's NO way I'm gonna have the 50 thou words in 19 days, but I started anyway. My story is pretty freaking corny, just to tell ya now... But, anyway, thanks for telling me about this thing, Sam. 'Ppreciate it! And good luck with yours. My User Number thinger is 257668, by the way. You can all enjoy my CHEESY story. yay! :D thanks n peacee

  • My first year of NaNoWriMo! I love it so far, I'm at 16,800. My user name is MarlenaNargle, or user/22949!

  • youre cool

    i like your awsomness

    ok..

    time to stop writing now...

    bye..

  • I may be emo but that doesn't mean I can't have a laugh! This is awsome! - 'just write' o.k

  • Cool. Everyone's welcome here.

  • This is awsome man! Your so funny! he he he. You look like jesus - cool

  • So I know its not helpful input at all but I thought I should let you know that you're my nemesis.

  • wait, you mean starting now? Cause I gotta tell you Zacks... I've been seeding you earth with salt for years.

  • ring ring ring ring ring ring ring bananaphone

  • Hahahah

  • I'm avoiding updating my nano...but I'm writing.

  • I think I'm updating my nano more than I'm writing!

  • Lame Sam. Real Lame. lol

  • bah. I just passed 20,000 - who's Lame Sam now?

  • You are!

    Zoom Zoom Zoom.

  • So I know its not helpful input at all but I thought I should let you know that you're my hero.

  • thanks!

  • I got a new book out...its about a man on a journey...for sex/drugs/rocknroll/money/power/fame/money/fame

  • you sell out!

  • Thats soooo cool

I had never even herd of Nanowrimo till now so I'm not going to waste any time at all, as soon as I've finished this comment I'M SO STARTING!!!!

This is going to be interesting, a little (I'm really REALLY short) English girl is going to write a novel!!! I've no idea what it is going to be about, very interesting this will be.

  • Awesome, that's the best way to do it. Just jump in and start flailing around :)

  • Sooo, did you have a lot of ideas for your writing before you started this challenge, or are you magical and the ideas just come to you as you go? I'm not a writer, so this all seems impossible to me.

  • Actually I'd forgotten all about nanowrimo until I ran into a friend of mine at a cafe writing. So as I was walking home I stated to think of my idea.

  • wait, why are my comments not arriving?

  • there it is. darn inter-stuff. I like what you're doing Sam. hooray writing.

  • now I look like a crazy person.

  • I want to say hooray for writing, but when I post comment, comment go away. :-(

  • You rock! =D

  • I want to write something, but i dunno what to write about :(

  • I think I actually saw something on the site that had a list of plots or soemthing. or you could google "plot generators" and get something that way.

but I suggest just going for it. I started with just a vague idea that I wanted to write about a man in a bombshelter.

  • Wow, Sam.

    Way to pimp Nanowrimo.

I've been wanting to do it for a few years and despite being 6 days in, I think I might sign up and try it.

    Thanks for the motivational video.

  • Yea this is the first year I'm actually doing it as well. And really 6 days is nothing, you if you write for an hour and a half or two hours a day, you'll make up the time asap.

plus you can just give yourself an extra week into December. Good luck and kick some word butt!

  • Hey Sam I just wanted to thank you for turning me on to nanowrimo. I just signed up yesterday and Im super excited since my inner editor is a ruthless bitch who never leaves me alone and it's nice to just stifle her constant criticism for awhile. I read your excerpt and it was very interesting, from your youtube posts I didn't really know what kind of writer you were but I definitely want to read more as you get going.

  • Very cool, feel free to throw you profile number up here so people can check in on you.

And yea I imagine a lot of people would assume I'm a goofy write, but my writing tends to be very different from my videoing.

Well, good luck, push on and type type type!

  • I can't find any numbers assigned to me, where are these numbers located at anyway? my user name is srambo though so if anyone wants to check it out that way feel free

  • if you click on "view profile" you'll see the Nanowrimo URL for your profile, the end of which is user/# and that number is your profile number

  • i'll nanowrimo you!

...just trying to perfect the madness. xD

  • hahahaha SARAH!

  • nanowrimo, thats just fun to say.

  • I know right! it's like some kind of crazy super hero term.

    Nanowrimo to the rescue!

  • jesus ur h0t!!

  • That was an awesome video response, thanks!

I know I pronounce it wrong, I dont care. I think my way sounds better hahaha.

Good luck this year, I have no doubt we can all do it. It's not really that hard if you have an ounce of motivation in your body. :)

  • actually right after they show you the correct pronunciation, they also say nanowreemo is totally acceptable as well ;)

  • Nay I mean how would I, update my own? Do I have to upload everything I have? Or do I just change the number?

  • yea, you just enter your current word count to the web site.

they also give a place where you can enter a small excerpt from the novel.

  • Dude this is slick, thanks for the letting folks know.

  • Rock on!

  • thanks for the heads up, I'm linking over right now to start, hell yeahs

  • Do it up. If you sign up leave a comment with you profile number

  • Dearest Sam Proof, I wish to partake in this little escapade, and have logged in and such...yet one question plagues me....how does the word count thing work? Do you count it yourself and then just enter the number in or is there a place on the site...and no I don't have a job that requires me to work heavy machinery.

  • Yea basically the website just gives you a place to enter your current word count (on the honor system).

So yea, hopefully you're using a word processor that has a "word count" in the tools menu or shows it on the info bar.

  • that's really cool sam. have fun man. cant wait to read something of yours.

  • Once I find some free time, I'm gonna try and get more stuff out there, online or wherever.

  • good. tell me when you do. if u ever need anything man, let me know...

  • Right on

  • thats so cool!! maybe ill do it somtime. right now im a bit busy writing for school & shit. teachers never give us free write & it makes me sad =( i checked out the site & your doing pretty well. ill keep on looking!

  • It's definitely something to try, even if you do it on your own terms over the summer or a winter break. :)

  • How does one check someone's progress?....I'm so confused, damn 246951 for not being samproof, hence leading to the explantion in a lovely yellow, that sent me into this downward spiral.

  • If you goto my actual profile 246963 (click the link int he description) you should see right in the center a little blue bar and current word count.

I update it at least once a day (cause so far I've been able to write at least once a day)

  • Good on you for joining up with NaNo! Last year I wrote about 15,000 words on the last day and broke my brain. The result was atrocious, but the experience was heavenly. I'm trying to write more reasonably this year and am watching your vlogs rather than writing right now. Sigh. Must stop procrastinating! Good luck!

  • 15k ain't half bad. I have to admit I've got plenty more false starts than finished novels.

    just keep trying!

  • Dearest Sam, You're great! and SO Fuzzy!

  • yay! thanks

  • Go, Sam, Go! Do it Brother!

  • Thanks Don!

  • Wow...without even knowing about this National Novel Writing Month thing. I started writing a little something in weekly installments that I post to myspace blog. A friend of mine had the idea and started last month, and so I'm doing the same. I don't know if I have 6000 words though, I could check. I'm off of work with spare time, I think I'll just do that.

  • Awesome! Keep it going.

  • Love NaNoWriMo. :)

  • are you in it this year?

  • Yeah, I am. I completely failed last year... I was behind 40,000 words. Totally trashed the story.

    Another sad thing is,

    1. Due to procrastination, and

    2. I got a huge virus on my computer that took 3 days for me to clean up.

I have 200 words so far this year. I'm about to open up word and write -_-

  • I dont really think I could do write a book. :-(

  • it's all about trying. :)

  • good luck with your writing!

  • Thanks Sara!

  • :o

    Where was the intro music!?!?!?!?!?!

And that bannana fone was for me, dude told me he got the wrong number, but was pleasently surprised by the slightly feminine voice of the second person.

    Yea hes messed up

  • Holy snap! I didn't even notice that issue. Damn. I'd even moved the intro music up so it was basically the banana phone caller. Double damn.

  • I can't do books

    so I fail.

    I'll just watch

  • ahh it's all good buddy.

  • you're just saying that.

  • dude, you are AWESOME! I'm going to try to write this month, too. Probably not a full novel, but I'm gonna give this a shot.

    thanks for the inspiration. :)

  • Awesome. Do it up! it's not about if you win or lose, just see how far you can go!

  • Oh it is so sad that I have all my exams going on now and well that I am not english ^^, because that sounds so interesting. Well, I wish all of you who enter Nanowrimo (if u can call it like that ... well I have no better words to say what I mean xP) so much fun doing this!!!

  • So I'm an idiot...but how many pages does that equate to?

  • It's somewhere around the 200 vicinity, maybe less. I think 200 is actually closer to 60,000

  • Awesome! Go go go!

  • sooooo its like a free write over a months time? hah. have fun writing!

  • Yea that's probably a good way to put it. It's all about free writing and not pausing to trip yourself up.

  • Oh, Sam! This sounds AWESOME!!

I am mulling it over right now.

  • Go for it! It's just an excuse to write everyday and to try to teach you to push away your inner critic/editor

  • I have an idea, just 2 hours later. And I'm pretty positive I can make it a long story, lol! I will sign up for an account thingie....

  • cool. Get it done.

  • too late bitch

  • I gotta try that...but I ha vent had much motivation lately to get doing on the few stories stuck in my head.

    blah...

  • Trying it is better than not trying it. Get it on! :)

  • Ever think of becoming a motivational speaker? I feel like writing a f'ing novel now! Maybe I should try and finish one of the 17 screenplays I've started. Yeah.

    Great video.

  • Actually I have considered it. In fact there's a chapter in 'Gone' that is all about a motivational speaker, and includes a seminar.

  • ~8960 words so far, good luck...

  • Rock on thanks!

  • oooh I loooveee nano! :)

  • Hey! Thanks for sharing! *Checks out site* Good luck!

  • Can I start here? Chapter 1

Georgia placed the freshly baked pies on the window sill to cool in the crisp autumn air. One was a tart apple for the church auction on Sunday. The other a rich buttery pecan, with just enough arsenic to send her husband to the morgue on Monday.

  • Hahaha please keep it going. If you wrote 50,000 of comments it would be a historic event for sure.

  • Write a "movel"? What's a "movel"?

  • Um... possible Engrish? you've been away too long my friend.

  • Oh noes!

  • Hi Sam, Frezned beat you to it. :-) Check out his video, "Nanowrimo" from 5 days ago.

  • There's no beating in nanowrimo.

  • hello sam =] i love your hair =] you're soo cute too, just like a little kid..

  • hi sam :D

  • Hi!

  • u have nice hair! :D o and i love your vids!!!!!

  • o and hows your day going?

  • it's fantastic. how's yours?

  • Hey Samproof, did you get my pando mail?

  • Hey man, I actually had some problems with getting the full thing.

  • What did you get? Will I try sending again?

  • um there were two different things. I honestly don't remember what happened with the first thing (which had like 4 files) I may have jsut stopped it to try to smaller download, but the second one flat out gave me some kind of error. I'll try later and see what happens.

but it looked like everything was working right on your end.

  • K, keep me posted if it works or not. Does the files need to be in the sent box until they are downloaded?

  • um. I don't think so. I think the sent box is just to keep a copy for you.

  • Ok. Should I just try sending the video file again?

  • Ok I got the file this time. Rockon.

  • Nice, oh ya, I found you on skype. I added you.

  • Oh cool. though I almost never use that thing :D

  • It's great fun with the games and stuff though, right now me and a friend are defacing so pictures of friends:D

  • wow, I wish I could write, I got stories... but not really any depth into the length of it...

  • it's all just a skill you hone in time. the more you do it, the better you get.

  • It's totally inspiring. However, i wouldn't know exactly what to write about. Could it be 1 month of of journaling, if that counts as nanowriting?

  • like I said Molly, don't think of it as a novel (thus story) think of it as a book. You can do it.

  • Cool. I think I might try it and see where it goes.

  • Awesome! and glad you're back.

  • You are so awesome. Dude seriously.. you sort of make my day because you're totally someone I would hng out with all the time and sit and write and have the occasional.. "Dude.. whatcha writing?".. moment.

  • Awesome. that's pretty much how my best friend and I existed from 16 to 25. we'd have the TV going and a couple of cokes and every once in a while head hold up and illustration and I'd be all "I just killed the main character"

  • Haha yes. That pretty much sums up not only 80% of my friends but about 80% of people that I assume will be my friends in the future. I also wanted to mention that I have decided to take the Nanowrimo pluge into the scary abyss of uneditted words. I just signed up about 30minutes ago so I haven't editted my profle yet, but I have started to write on a white screen with white font.. and it's proving to be very hard for me to not edit haha.

  • pinky extended on the banana phone, so polite sam...

  • hahaha I actually did a retake to make sure I had the pinky going.

  • How much coffee did you have??

  • hahah this was shot before I drank coffee.. edited while drinking coffee though.

  • why does everything you do post twice?

  • twice?

  • I'M A NANOWRIMO TOO, 200271

  • Pimp your link bitch!

  • You know this whole get your ass up and just do it works good for you.

    Wanna be my new muse?

  • yes I do! so I just sit here and look pretty?

  • Works for me.

    And damnit I even got first and missed it ;__;

  • you know I've replied to this three times!

I think it keeps erasing it cause I keep saying "Oh man, so I just get to sit here and look pretty" and it thinks it's creepy or something.

  • Well now it worked.

    And if I may add:

A little dancing besides the sitting and looking pretty wouldn't be too bad either.

    xD

  • Hahahaha. Ok I'll see what I can muster.
