Alot of drummers have been switching to Dw, because ever since DW made the discovery of designing drums where they go against the grain and make alot deeper and overall better sound that no other drum company has. And no other drum company can really compete with dw in my opinion, I wish they weren't so bloody expensive, or I wasn't so poor!(They're so expensive because of how long they take to make, plus materials to make them)
Next time they release a live dvd with multi angle view (like Hullabaloo) you should have the option to just watch him the whole concert long. I would so do that :)
true...what confused me is the use of the gretsch kit at wembley stadium...how did he get away with that one, seeing that he has an exclusivity contract with tama....
Even if he is endorsed, he might not have to use only TAMA. It depends on the contract between Tama and Dominic Howard. A friend of mine who used to be endorsed by Dexter guitars and Hughes & Kettner told me that.
Im pretty sure he was even using a Ludwig Black Beauty Snare for Wembly Stadium. I guess the thing is that if they are recording the show and putting it on DVD Dom or his drum tech thought that it would be best to use those drums for recording live and as long and you can clearly, most of the time see the Tama Logo it should be ok with Tama. Im the same. Im Tama endorsed and I use a DW snare drum live (you cant really see the DW badge where I set it) but use the rest of my DW kit for recordings.
Dom is not an endorser of TAMA, but he is an endorser of DW Drums. You can look it up on Wikipedia. He's not listed between the endorsers on the TAMA page, but he is listed on the DW page and it also says he endorses DW on his own Wikipedia page.
I find that really donfusing to çause most of the times he uses a TAMA kit...
Ok, I didn't know that... But did he first switch from DW to Tama and then back to DW? Because in this video from 2000 he is already playing a DW kit:
@TdrumsRHCP not when a massive stadium concert is being filmed and then published to DVD for worldwide sale...but yeah, there must have been a loophole and I'm sure they got around it...
@mercyalex i don't think tama cares about what dom uses in the studio, the most important thing for them is that the tama kit will be used on stage, where everybody can see it
Recording drums is the most annoying thing any musician can be faced with. Any tips?

he was using a dw kit when they performed on mtv for the vmas. maybe he switched?
bdrums777 2 years ago
I think the endorsement is over now..
'cause he's been using DW drums since the Teignmouth gig
And DW don't do any endorsement I think

@mrmadadam It doesn't necessarily mean he can't play on a Gretsch.
