  • Brilliant!

  • Well I think the clarinet intro blows the most of all the orchestra version. And right now I'm finishing up learning it paino solo and I'm going to play it next month. Despite my disgust for classical pieces, I find Rhapsody in blue quite nice and pleasent to play. Meybe because I've never liked to use the indexed fingers and it gives me the freedom to play it as I want, when the more classical pieces are simply impossible if you don't use the fingers suggested :D

  • He kinda looks the the unemployed guy in the Fantasia movie that plays this song

  • this really makes me want to learn to play piano

  • I have boundless admiration for Dr. Kogan, but despite his enormous grace and feeling, I'd prefer to have the piece "swing" a bit more. This is supposed to be jazz, but his performance feels a bit too restrained for that.

  • @annezieger I agree but then again I think its great to see variation to the norm and it feels like a completely different piece all together :) I wouldn't say restrained just different

  • Wonderful! Magnificent performace, original vibrant and original interpretation. Bravo!

  • This is fantastic. It's great to hear another great interpretation other than Bernstein

  • AMAZING! i want to learn this sooooooooo bad! but i dont really read sheet music, does anyone have ideas on how else i can learn this?? thanks

  • @IAmWeird29

Learn the read sheet music. Then you can learn this song, and others that you will want to learn, without the restrictions of not being able to read. It will benift you for the rest of your life if you keep it up.

  • @IAmWeird29 Well, I have the sheet music for solo piano, but I have to tell you that despite my years as a classical pianist, I only attempted this piece once...and NEVER again. This is extremely difficult music for a solo pianist! My complete awe and admiration go to this man, Dr. Kogan, for playing this so well and with such depth and understanding. He truly gets the jazz concept, which I do not and probably never will.

  • @jjp009

Indeed, the piano solo version is awfully difficult, but so much better than the orchestra version, which useless violin and brass effects are just disgusting. The only good point of the orchestra is the clarinet intro.

  • @IAmWeird29

Learning how to read shit music is quite easy, and it will be the easiest part of your learning this piece.

  • @mbayssel I sure hope you meant "sheet" music and not "shit" music. Because this is pretty good stuff.

  • @jjp009

Of course I meant "sheet music", sorry for the typo.

Rhapsody in blue is a masterpiece which I love and study on the piano (although it's very difficult)

    Thanks

  • Im learning the rhapsody as we speak. And this performance has helped me alot so far

  • gershwin would be pleased with this performance

  • Bravo!

  • incredible, bravo!!!!!!

  • HOW does he do that?!

  • He is awesome!

  • i LOVE this interpretation! Its Mr. Gershwin re-incarnated :-)
