I seriously don't know what some mean by saying "she is off tune". Do you really know the tune of this type of music, or in particular, this song ? Because it is the tune of Khi Đã Yêu. Except you expect her to remix it and chant it in some other melody, then yah... that will be off tune.

And people find what they look for. If you look for the "looks" in singers too much, of course you will find it more frequently and over other skills the singers express.

Before Tam Doan there was a singer named Bang Chau. She was the best-looking singer of her time, but she was also the worst. Tam Doan is one of those singers who was promoted because her good looks. Whether she sings live or in the studio, it still sounds awful. There's a huge disparity between her appearance and her voice.
