It must be 40 years since I heard Los Indios Tabajaras! I bought a 45 single back then living in Argentina and don't remember which one. Was it Maria Elena? This was one of their best!
Superb Guitar players. Thank you for their History: I wanted to find out what happened to them: now I know.. Muchas gracias
GRACIAS.
My parents loved this piece of music and I still have fond memories of all our families getting together at our place with the drinks flowing and listening to music such as this. Memories that will never be erased. Love You Mum and Dad plus all Aunts and Uncles.
This is the tune that inspired me to learn to play the guitar almost 50 years ago. Until You Tube made tracking down old friends like this beautiful tune so easy it was quite hard to pin down searching through record shops, so it remained out of reach but always in my memory. This was undoubtedly Los Tabajares best performance and is a gem.
This song makes me cry every time I hear it. It was my late husband and my song back in 1963. We danced and fell in love to this music and he asked me to marry him with the song playing in the back ground. Rest in peace my love, I see your beautiful face whenever I hear this tune.
This is a beautiful piece of music. I used to play it with my band in the 60s for the slow foxtrot. Los Indios Tabajaras I believe means "The Working Indians" "Maria Elena" is the name of Buddy Holly's widow.
Memories from the past. Goodfellow Air Force Base, San Angelo, TX. Off duty airmen sitting in their cars at Mcintyre's Drive In, sharing this music with fellow airmen and local town girls who, inspired by this lovely romantic music, soon were to wed some of the guys from base.
@nenuttz Gene Autry sang it in an old movie of about 1938, but I didn't hear it until recently on the Westerns Channel. The movie was called "Down Mexico Way"...Oh, yes, the girl's name was Maria Alena, too.
merci merci cette musique une vraie beauté il y avait très longtemps que je ne l'avais pas écouter c'est un vrai plaisir et à réécouter sans modération
I first heard this about 50 years ago, and thought it was pretty good...Now I must say I was wrong....It is better than pretty good, It is, I think one of the best instruementals ever.... Great music, so simplistic, yet so Beautiful...bye now ...Bozo
This has long been a favorite tune for me! A very beautifully crafted video and I must say, one of the best background descriptions I've come across regarding the origins of this song. Nicely done! :o)
My father named me after this song....it was his favorite.

This is such a beautiful song. It was my sister Vera Lee's favorite...
She went to be with the Lord on March 8, 2011.
This is in memory of her. Always in my heart ! "Sisters Forever"

This is beautiful. I remember slow dancing to this with a very pretty girl at a party in the autumn of 1963.
Thanks for posting the music and video, and for the very informative background notes. RIP Natalicio Lima.
