For those of you who think they should have ditched the "Alice in Chains" name, I have 2 words for you - Lynyrd Skynyrd. Layne was actually the last one to joint the band, and happened to bring the name with him. Unfortunately, Layne's gone, but Sean, Jerry, and Mike are still here, even if Mike joined later. I think everyone should just be glad that their back. True Layne is gone but not forgotten, and I think Layne would want them to carry on. So many great artist have made that fateful mistake, some mistakes you live with some you die by. But the music has to go on and I think those who have gone would all say the same thing, quit bashing each other and just embrace each other in the music. Remember that in this world we only have each other. Peace.
But Layne is dead. He killed himself just as sure as if he had put a gun in his mouth. There's a time to mourn and a time to move on. We've already done the mourning.
IMHO, William is just a perfect fit for the band. He has a great set of pipes, harmonizes very well, he's a decent guitarist in his own right, and I think he and Jerry play extremely well off each other.

Yes, I was alive. I agree that Layne had the voice and was a major part of the band, but obviously they can make it just as well without him. They are doing it right now. A band is nothing without great music, and Jerry brought the music. Layne, Mike, and Sean did also of course, but Jerry was the musical genius behind a majority of the songs. Keep in mind, this is my opinion. If your opinion is different, it doesnt mean that I'm wrong and your right, or vice versa.

Big props to William Duvall. He is a great singer, and the songs pretty much sound the same with his voice. To all the "haters", you have to remember that NO singer is ever going to fill the shoes of the original. I don't care what band it is. You could have the brilliant Eddie Vedder singing in Layne's place and it still wouldn't be the same. I miss Layne, but at least AIC has moved on and is still rocking. If they never got back together, then the same people would be shouting for a reunion.

I think everyone should just be glad that their back. True Layne is gone but not forgotten, and I think Layne would want them to carry on. So many great artist have made that fateful mistake, some mistakes you live with some you die by. But the music has to go on and I think those who have gone would all say the same thing, quit bashing each other and just embrace each other in the music. Remember that in this world we only have each other. Peace.

I love AIC. Always have, always will.
I love Layne. Always have, always will.
But Layne is dead. He killed himself just as sure as if he had put a gun in his mouth. There's a time to mourn and a time to move on. We've already done the mourning.
IMHO, William is just a perfect fit for the band. He has a great set of pipes, harmonizes very well, he's a decent guitarist in his own right, and I think he and Jerry play extremely well off each other.
Get over it. Let's move on, shall we?

reading a few of the comments, i can see that i'm not alone in this.. but i'm happy they're back together. i own every album and consider AiC as my fav of their era.. they mean a lot to me, as they would to any fan.. and so did the passing of layne. layne was pure talent, a born frontman.. but i honestly feel as though they're doing this to cope and move on, not only for themselves but also for their fans. i'm sure layne is bangin his head and remembering the good ol days along with us all.

If anyone made AIC what it was, it was definitely Jerry. Obviously, because Layne is gone, and it still sounds like AIC. Everyone misses Layne, but your talking like AIC was a Layne project with three other guys just tagging along. That wasn't so; it was a four-man-band, with each member contributing.

Yes, I was alive. I agree that Layne had the voice and was a major part of the band, but obviously they can make it just as well without him. They are doing it right now. A band is nothing without great music, and Jerry brought the music. Layne, Mike, and Sean did also of course, but Jerry was the musical genius behind a majority of the songs. Keep in mind, this is my opinion. If your opinion is different, it doesnt mean that I'm wrong and your right, or vice versa.

He was messed up, on drugs, he wasn't in the right state of mind. Layne may have been the main voice, but he didn't make the band. Maybe if Layne had cleaned up he'd still be in AIC, but he's not. AIC is as great as ever with Will, he's not Perfect and Not Layne but he's dang good and brings his own thing too it. Just get over it.

Big props to William Duvall. He is a great singer, and the songs pretty much sound the same with his voice. To all the "haters", you have to remember that NO singer is ever going to fill the shoes of the original. I don't care what band it is. You could have the brilliant Eddie Vedder singing in Layne's place and it still wouldn't be the same. I miss Layne, but at least AIC has moved on and is still rocking. If they never got back together, then the same people would be shouting for a reunion.
