@AdamSavage88 well there isnt a kit out like that anywhere. you can buy the Tamiya or DML ones in 1/35 scale. then you can buy the Verlinden resin interior. becareful though, interiors need alot of patience and test fitting before final installation. paints used best for Airbrushing are Acylics like Tamiya or Gunze.
@cimmerian100 no worries... I really wish I had more time to get the CC's done for these :( I don't even have time to do my own tanks these days hahah
Thyank You for these videos sleepylafiel. Everytime I watch one I feel as though I'm building the model with the guy. Even though I don't speak Japanese I have learned so much from this show.
I'm pretty sure that's some kind of thinner mixed with artists' oil paints, like Winsor&Newton or similar. Your local art store should carry some brands. He's a bit bold just mixing each time before applying though. I prefer mixing a larger portion on a small cup or palette. Make sure the paint dissolves in the thinner and that the underlying paint won't be affected by the thinner. Experiment on a "hidden" surface, like the bottom, before going crazy all over the hull and turret.
Nice to see I got 2 thumbs down for my reply above. Anyway, I don't know if he coated and it's not a must. It is recommended though. A gloss coat is very smooth and the wash will easily run along all the crevices. If you do it on a matte surface it's like water on a towel, not good. The type of thinner and coat shouldn't be the same so if you use an acrylic coat then turpentine wash should be safe. Again, test it on the bottom of the tank where it can't be seen. It saved me some headache once...
It's like airbrushing on a coat of paint. The paints he's using for his airbrush (seen in 0:54) are Tamiya and they also have a clear gloss coat called X-22. Of course you could use a paint brush but then don't use Tamiya acrylics. They are NOT suited for paint brushing, at least not larger areas if you want even cover.
He uses "Petrole" which is oil paint thinner. This process is called "Ageing". This resembles washing, but does not wipe paint. And he didn't use clear coat before this process.
Alternatively, you could paint the base coat with lacquer/acrylic paints(tamiya, Mr. Color). Then apply a wash with enamel black. Mixing ratio is 10:1 (thinner:enamel).
what kind of air brush is he using

By not using a clear coat before a wash I think he wants a more dirtier effect on his model over all.

Did he use a clear coat between the underlaying paint and the oil wash? If he didn't; doesn't the thinner affect the underlaying paint?
Thank you in advance for answering!

This way you won't strip away the base color.
