  • looks as $200 camera

  • I was wondering about focus/depth of field. I read people saying you need to get a special lens but it looks like you can focus on nearby or far-off objects with opposites going blurry which is cool. A friend wants me to go HD and ditch the idea of getting a DVX100b, but man this looks so good. What HD camera offers 24p and looks this good for under $3,000?

  • I think the song works fine.

  • dose this use a SD card???

  • @DsReviewers no.

  • @TheStringer52 you can mute your computer if you want to. that was an unnecessary comment.

  • @TheStringer52 I agree, the music choice couldn´t be worst

  • @zurriagazo71 Then mute your computer.

  • @TheStringer52 THUMBS UP. The music is a shitty match

  • @dallasluce You could have muted the computer.

  • Hey guys...............I have been watching almost everyone of a variety of cameras for the past three years now, and convinced that the HD quality and sensor on the canon, hand held hf100 or 200 has the most quality look of all videos..........and costs only about 600 or so......................

  • I couldn't help noticing the black bars top and bottom of image. Is this camera a true 16:9 widescreen?

  • No the DVX100b just adds bars. its not true 16:9.

  • its native 4:3. although it does have a "stretch mode" which will basically cut off the tops and bottom to make an anamorphic 16:9

  • awesome cuts, awesome music selection.

  • The actual source video looks a lot better than this right? This looks like shit... I'm asking because i'm thinking of either getting this or a Sony equivalent.

  • yes, of course the source video looks better. youtube just can't handle large files.

  • does it have a slot of SD CARDS?

  • Unfortunately, no.

  • how much did you get the dvx100b for?

    Im looking into buying one

  • $3,700 new

  • lol you paid too much for it then...

it goes for $2500 most of the time actually...

  • it was 4k when it first came out. i got it in mid '08

  • oh alright, makes sense to me now why you said that =D

  • Okay dude, you got the camera now its time to buy a tripod and eliminate all the shakey camera moves. Run the tests learn how to use it then post something we can all enjoy!

  • i literally just took the camera out of the box. sorry for shaky camera, but i dont HAVE to post tests like these. i post them so that others can see a (unfortunately) semi blurry, yet still helpful image of what the dvx can do right away.

  • Did you use a 35mm adapter for your DVX100B. Or was it just plain camera on 24p setting. I am interested in purchasing one and doing some research.

  • No 35mm adapter. Just plain DVX.

  • It's a Portishead song. not bad footage. I'm making a movie with the dvx100a and posted a teaser. All shot with the dvx, 24p.

  • i love this!

what song is it? it makes the video so much, it sets the mood.

  • It is a song by Portishead, sorry, I do not know the name of the track.

  • Mourning Air

  • this awesome song is by Portishead and it´s called "Mourning Air" you can find it on their self titled album Portishead.

  • hd?

  • no sorry

  • yo nice video.. what is the filter size(lens size) of this camera

  • 72mm

  • Lens size is 72mm

  • ñaa

  • im thinking of getting one is it worth it?

  • is the ag-dvx100b new like is it a old camcorder? if so what would be equivlent to the camcorder today? is it one of the best?

  • It is a 3 year old camera but it is one HECK of a nice camera!!!!

  • I just got this camera 2 months ago and still new to this filming thing but WHY is it soo dark??? It films well outside when the sun is out but indoors even when all the lights are on, it's still dark. Is it the camera?? You can check out my videos and see that outside is nice but indoors is pretty bad. Please let me know what i'm doing wrong. thanks

  • You need to do a balance correction on the color. By now I'm sure you have since this was posted two months ago. By correcting it automatically on the side, there is a button saying Auto.. usually that helps. And change your shutter speed lower then higher

  • Definitely!!! You will not believe the difference in quality when you first turn on your very own DVX. I nearly passed out.

  • what do you think of the quality compared to the sony vx series as in pd170, vx1000 and so on?

  • I used to have the Sony VX1000, and this camera is in a completely different league than it. The Panasonic is so much better.

  • im thinking of buy this camera...

    nd i wanna to know

    1. is it hd?

    2. is it easy to use?

    3. do you think its better than the canon GL2

because i might wanna of those two cameras

  • Great camera choice :)

#1. No it is not HD. If HD is what you need, then get the Canon XH-A1.

#2. Although some reviews say it has a high learning curve, I personally think it does not, and it is extremely easy to use after getting used to. BUT, you should research some more about its different functions.

#3. I have used the Canon GL-2 before, and in my opinion, it does not even compare to the quality of the DVX. It isnt even 24p!

final: GET THE DVX but RESEARCH IT FIRST!

    Thanks for watching! :)

  • okay thanks..

it really helps becuz i got a job at a carwash and i have been busting my ass to get the money so i wanna get a good camera.

    thanks for the help

  • 1. HD cameras are much more expensive than the DVX. Although HD is quite amazing.

    2. No. I don't think so anyhow, I mean sure you can turn it on and record and mess with a few setttings with ease but if you actually want to make your shot look a lot more "film" like then I think it is a bit difficult...youdeffinatly have to read the manual!

  • My DVX doesnt seem to white balance even when I do it the way the manual says..maybe i'm doing something wrong but the manual doesnt explain things very clearly in my opinion.

    3. I havent had experience with this camera but I would assume so after doing research. The DVX is a VERY VERY great camera that can satisfy any of your film projects for a long time.

I think the only downfalls of the DVX would be (what I think) a bit of a learning curve with all the different functions

  • thats a nice camera I own one too. for some info be sure you turn off the auto iris and be sure to have your shutters set at 1/48 for an overall crisp look. white balancing is also real important.

  • I just got my AG-DVX100B. I love it but I need to learn how to use it. Because I see too much red blur sometimes. Almost like an old VHS camcorder/LOL.. I'm like WHAT...I must have the wrong settings. Also I've read audio is not too great. But I love the camcorder and will figure it out.ANY MORE TIPS?

  • I just got mine too...the red blur problem is caused by chroma subsampling. In digital video, the luminance signal is sampled at four times the rate of the chrominance channels. With intense reds, the luminance is low, so you see the quarter resolution chroma data more clearly. This effect can be minimized when using a lower exposure. I agree, get a super cardioid/cardioid XLR to help out with the audio. Panasonic sells a great one made for the camera.

  • Do you mean lower shutter speed? What setting do you use to minimize the red?

  • Lower exposure. Use the iris and gain settings.

  • Hey your fish look real sad... How are you liking the dvx?? What Frame rate did you shoot at towards the end (yellow vet + Cars etc)??

I just got mine the other day.

    check out my test footage.

  • It is all 24p. Thanks for watching!
