Such knowledge its amazing,Sweet broom was one of my favorite tea,Its been about (27) years since I've had sweet broom but i can still taste it,Thanks and god bless.
Everytime I listen to this song, I can't help but remember the old woman who used to walk up WIlliam Street Campbellville past our house, with a medium sized 'bread' basket balanced on top of her head, calling out 'Bush fo sell'. And sometimes, if the timing of her passing our house was just right, I would even get to hear her calling out some of the names from this song.
I am very pleased to see that people are listening to and enjoying these songs. They are from my father's youth and he used to sing them to us as we grew up. I recently acquired a tape of these songs and wanted everyone to hear and hopefully appreciate them like I do
Social commentary of the highest import. Bill Rogers was more than a singer , shantonian or calysonian. He was an historian recording the things and times of his era.
I enjoyed this. Is it possible for you to post the drunk man song? Thanks and God bless!

This is a great classic, I remember the weed song as a young fellow growing up in Guyana, but never knew all the words. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for posting this song. I wonder if there is anyone in Guyana who could identify the bushes named in this song.

Of course they are, they are widely sold at the Bourda and stabroek markets in GT. Up to last week we were drinking capadula and sasparilla

Someone needs to write a book about all those weeds and what they can do for you. What a wealth of knowledge........

This is wonderful. Fabulous composition. Too bad Bill did not get his due during his lifetime.
I heard that he had composed the 'Rum & CocaCola' song, and that he did not make a cent from the Andrews Sisters' recording of the song.
