@D1NOSAWR not to the best of my knowledge. The only time I have ever seen particle effects cast shadows is with the frostbite engine. I know with the newer verisions of UDK the lighting can effect the particle effects lighting. I would check the UDK website upgrade notes because with each update they go over what they upgraded.
