@goldensun003 In one of the games, Dracula cast a curse on Simon Belmont upon being defeated which caused Simon to slowly die. Simon, being the badass he is, went to Dracula's castle again, gathered his body parts, resurrected him and killed him again to end the curse.Y

Simon was not the original vampire killer, Sonia was. they just ousted her from the timeline 'cus they didn't want the Belmonts to be part Vampire. The Belmonts were descendants of Alucard till the retcon. Google it if you don't believe me.

Actually the story now is that Leon Belmost is the first in the line of the clan and Sonia is still in the story as far as I know and although it is diluted, the belmonts after Sonia and Alucard got together get some of their powers from their vampire side. That is why Trevor Belmont was banish from his town, because the locals were frightened by his power.

Information is harder to find than I thought, just did a search my self, but from what I found (which was dated, I'm not sure if it has changed) the Castlevania Legends games starring Sonia were completely removed from the continuum. Also, looking back, I need to be careful how I phrase things. My first comment just sounds rude =/

If the rumors I've heard are true, Sonia was retconned out because one of the writers had issues with putting female characters in such important positions. Not sure if it's true, but sounds like actions of an utter tool.

CV Legends was removed because Konami didn't want the Belmonts to be descended from Dracula. Nothing to do with Sonia's sex. The same guy that removed Legends also OK'd Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia after all.
