1/7 the buttons for a solution with 1/7 the overall features and flexibility.
Quite appropriate really: choose a boat load of features and huge flexibilty for an overall more powerful piece of software with a slightly longer learning curve (WMC), or go with a simple to use barebones setup that allows for basic media consumption and nothing more(Front-Row).
Using the WMC remote for Front-Row would be clunky, just like using the Apple remote for WMC would be horrible.

Well its like this. Everytime when Steve Jobs says to me this is a product = Its like people are paying money to buy Mr Jobs products, you can see on the remote, its not many options. Microsoft are more open to software communication, so FU brainwashed Apple World Visitors.
Well, I own 4 Apple remotes and countless Microsoft MCE remotes. The Microsoft remotes are definitely better-suited to watching TV. Still, it's irritating that there's no dedicated buttons for aspect and captions.
Why is Jobs dumb enough to assume people want less buttons? That just means you get a less efficient remote because you have to press more buttons to do the same thing that a normal remote can do with one button press.
I'd rather have the Windows ones with the ability to do what I want. Sorry that I'm not simpleton that can only handle a few buttons without my brain exploding
More buttons=more features! I am a real apple fanboy but this is no comprising. I bought an apple remote (the new aluminum one yesterday because if I don't have wifi I can still control my Mac but that's all there is to it!
@kalosanin This remote can even control a whole tv mostly if you think of some shortcuts like holding down the play button to close it, pressing any button to open it, going through channels by the rewind/fast forward buttons, etc.
@drrobertoboogie97 yes but programing, rec, Chanel direct, tel-text, zoom, guide, mute,ch list, pre ch,fav ch,p.size, srs on,off, subs, and so on how do you do it with 6 buttons ?
The Microsoft remotes are way to complicated, the Apple remote costs too much and doesn't do anything... for my Apple TV, I love the Apple Remote iPhone app, and for the rest of my home media I love the Logitech Harmony remote.
@johnblack627 Apple remote costs too much? It costs less than $20 for a new one, wtf are you talking about? Go to any RadioShack store and you will see that universal remotes usually cost over $70 bucks.
anybody wana fill the middleground. i dont like overcomplexity but i like free will. i'd like to be able to uninstall itunes on my pc without problems that would be nice. is that too much to ask for from apple?
I have to say, this is one thing Apple has made that seems completely uneccesary... Media Centers need those buttons to do their multiple functions, while the Apple remote is stripped down...
Im afraid I wouldnt ever buy something that required one of those.
Oh for heaven's sake Steve, find something else to complain about.
The Media Center remotes aren't just for music, movies and photos; they also are made for TV, PVR and recording functionality as well. I'd like to see someone try and use this little six button remote with a TV...they're comparisons are moot.
I mean, with this logic, he should attack TV manufacturers too, telling them to 'tone their remote designs' down, that they're just embarrassing themselves and wasting their time.

Yea it takes all that for Windows.
Mac is a piece of shit and will rip you off. Do not buy nor trust these pieces of shit. You pay for warranty and struggle just to get it back up an running. Know why? Not everything is compatible and mac will make you wait so long for solutions. You are better off with the new Windows Seven coming up! Yeeea booooi! Fuck all your replys from here on out!
I can tell you haven't extensively used a mac recently (within 2 years) and if you have then I'm sad you weren't able to use it to its potential. (btw i like Microsoft to I'm just saying macs do have features... they're just different)
First thing it has 6 button. And, its not for media center like MS. Its for Apple TV and to listen music and view digital content, Play DVD and lot more..
Microsoft doesn't have any buttons...it's a company.
As for how many buttons are on Media Center remotes, it's poor design. I broke it down once and found that over half the buttons on my friend's remote were superfluous. There are a couple more features, but mostly it's a complete waste.
Also, you've apparently never used a Mac...ever...and are simply pulling things out of your ass to justify buying a PC and an MCE remote. Why did you even come to this video?
