  • great line-up here

  • they belong in the same paragraph, only if it's BAD music or like in BAD boy

  • Yep. Miles davis and bad music definitely DON'T belong in the same paragraph

  • 4:47: Marcus Miller is making a "Steve Vai face"!

Btw, i think David Sanborn's sound normally is to monotome. I must say i prefer Kenny Garrett, although Mr. Sanborn is doing a good job as a guest appearance on this song.

Check out "David Sanborn - Slam" then you will understand why i think his sound is to monotome.

  • 240P + Miles Davis = Crime!

  • @locmaster19 Nowadays he's using DR Fat Beams Marcus Miller Signature. I don't know if he was using those strings when he was playing with Miles.

  • Nice call and response with BADASS(!) Kenny Garrett. Miles is Miles, bitches!!

  • And for those who wonder, the guitar solo in this song is no guitar, its a tapping bass solo on a bass! Pretty nice heh!

  • Marcus miller <3 The slap bass, so genius, he one of the maker of this song!

  • This is sublime, btw, I love the $ medallion.. Retro rythym

  • 66 def...

  • he converted a bass into a four string guitar, I did the same thing on an Alembic and a Ken Smith. The only down side its kind of hard to play chords.

  • @afterthefox7 no, you're wrong! this instrument is called a Lead Bass. or a Baritone bass. THis is really an instrument !

David Sanborn - this was on his show.

  • Does this "man in blue" also play bass? Who is he btw? Sorry for stupid question, but it's not very frequent, that there are two basses in one band :).

One of my favorite track, Miles' great.

  • @jomonger

the man in blue is Marcus Miller

the other bass player is Barron Browne, who is in Vital Information now.

  • @jomonger

the man in blue is Marcus Miller

the other bass player is Barron Browne, who is in Vital Information now.

though I might be mistaken and Marcus is the first bassist.

  • @TheTimananda

I know that the first one is Marcus. Browne had nice bass sound in his solo, so i was curious. Thx man :).

  • @jomonger just a minor correction the man in blue is Foley the other cool dude on bass is Marcus Millar

  • @jomonger just a minor correction the man in blue is Foley the other cool dude on bass is Marcus Millar , Dave Sanborn on sax and Kenny Garret on flute

  • Sanborn is disgusting on this.

  • I love the freakazoid on tenor at 3:30. Miles Davis was such a bad ass mother fucker, you should check out his autobiography.

Jazz lives on in the legends of Bop,

miss ya bird, monk, diz, bud, roach

the tree's, the air, Strauss, Brahms,

    Jesus,

the birds and all of the Chinese poets

have been around for a long time

  • @Livetschaess Yep thanks. but I already own the album. I need this version, for the sax solo. which is stunning.

  • A casting director's best move would be to cast Don Cheadle as Miles Davis!

  • @Ausir2001 Lol! Arsenio Hall as Marcus Miller and Denzel Washington as Kenny Garrett (Why not?!)

  • I was listening to the music without watching the video and then I heard a cool guitar solo and I decided to see who was playing guitar with the great Miles, and then I saw the vid and I was like "WTF ?? This is a bass solo ??"

    Awesome.

  • Kenny Garrett on flute is trading with Miles-he is an absolutely killin' alto sax player-my favorite alive! I hope to share the stage with him some day.

  • miles davis looks like a badass and his playing is pretty intimidating atleast that's what the flute player said :P

  • David Sanborn was my first guess. I guess my Jazz History is pretty good. It all revolves around Miles. This recording is TIGHT!

  • anybody knowes who is the sax player?

  • @avi1777 His name is David Sanborn. Quite a monster isn't he? :)

  • How amazing videos.Has played almost all of my favorite musicians!

  • Hello to all Miles'fans. If you want to delve into his discography, check out my channel : Miles Davis' discography REVIEW for the first time ever. Cheerio.

  • I remember when I bought LP ... it was more than jazz ... it was more than amazing.

  • From somebody who only knows good music when he hears it: I love reading the comments from musicians. I know nothing of music myself except to know that I like it and to see some of the more technical comments is cool-keep 'em coming!

  • Miles laid the tracks for the existence of smooth jazz, even back to his style on kind of blue

  • ArtEmar4you... 2MilesDAVIS4Ever... ! )

  • FFFFFFFUUUUUUUCCCCCCKKKKKKK!!!!!!!!

  • did miles played better when he wasnt stoned? No one knows for sure :DDDD

  • Does he use an octave pedal on his bass? It sounds like a guitar.

  • @4578a It's a shortscale bass with Piccolo-strings(+1 octave)

  • 5:50 LOL.

    fantastic song.

  • simply a genius. come disse qualcuno...no trips for cats !

  • Huuuuy...

M Davis, Marcus Miller, David Sanborn, Kenny Garret,.....

    Great !!!

  • Rest in peace Miles Davis :(

  • That bassist thinks he's a guitarist. He's playing with a peddle that changes the pitch up an octave, he's using a pick, and his bass has a whammy bar.

  • @blueblob4

You are retarded. That is a piccolo bass. It is tuned up an octave.

  • 2 bass players! cool!

  • @77nathan ...that's a hell of a solo...

  • what a fabulous show this was...he introduced so many new and unique artists

  • The cat on the percussion is red hot! Not any more than the Sanborn sax and flutist, all are on fire. WoodB Wild to have a band like this in town at a reasonable cover!

  • Marcus is the man!! Notice Miles shakes his hand after they conclude the session...

  • peace of shit

  • The other bass player is playing a Picolo bass I believe

  • @FreeKK22 Oh yeah, and you are so observant to see it. Grateful observation, well-educated, silly, maybe rasist too. :)) Happy New Year!!
