  • ouch, looks like that may have gotten to the rad

  • wtf is worth 4000$?

  • maximas are gay

  • must of new car the grill is the bumper :(

  • I have this car....hope this never happens

  • congratulations gooks, you made another shitty car

  • What's different of Maxima and Altima?

  • @streesmut70 Maxima is more high-end and only comes in 6-cylinder. Plus maximas are a tad smaller and have different tail lights.

  • @streesmut70 Quality!

  • @streesmut70 maxima's bigger

  • @mtrofim2006 You can get the the headlight assembly on ebay or certifit!!

  • $4535?? I don't think soo!! New headlights are $167 each, bumper $45, hood $122, grill $126, getting it painted is approx $400 and if the radiator is damaged, anew one is $100!!

  • @caphil3008 where are you getting HID headlights for 167$ each?? Im interested!

  • @caphil3008 Where are you getting HID headlights for 167$ ??? Im interested!!

  • hahahah bumper virtually un damaged lol

  • ouchhhhhh?

  • The radiator took most of the impact. That bumper is way too low.

  • worst video ever .............ever!

  • $ 4,535 for just smashed hood and Nissan logo?

  • @GTA4Cobra11 each light is about 300 used plus new hood. the cost of paint. and labour is about 60 an hour

  • @GTA4Cobra11 Theres more to that how about the radiator, the grill and maybe the paint work

  • You call that a bumper ? It doesn't even stick out new cars have worse and worse bumpers because they are choosing style over protection for low speed crashes.

  • THAT was it?

    $4500?!?!?!

That's why I'm going to leave suburbia, move right back into the city, buy 3 kick-ass carbon fiber road bikes and get into cycling.

  • You can buy a car with a decent bumper for the amount that costs! Fucking hell.

  • '"dammit, i cant find the bonnet latch! *hits bumper* that did the trick."

  • WOW $4,535, This is why I won't ever buy a Nissan Maxima, did you see the Camry, And Sonota! Under 900 bucks...NO VISIBLE DAMAGE!

  • Who cares if its Japanese. It's a maxima... With an engine that's won numerous awards. And it's designed to absorb the shock... People are stupid.

  • It hasn't strong yet

  • I ran into a Chevy Beretta going about 10-15mph in my 1987 Acura Legend, and came out with no damage to either car. Didn't even scratch either car. Impact absorbing energy foam in my bumper system, and absorbing shocks on the Beretta's bumper are to thank.

  • this test is a car to suv test. you experienced a car to car crash, they are not comparable.

  • This is a car to car test, not SUV. That is to simulate the average height of a vehicle bumper. If you look for the 1981 Ford Escort in this test, it comes out with less than $500 damage in all four tests.

  • i miss my old car.. all metal, no airbags.. was just modivation to drive safer!

  • boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

  • Aint nothing like the good old cars back in the day eh , just brush off the dust and keep going , nowadays you'd hurt the bumber if a bird hit it ,, junk ...

  • The new designs are to improve safety by absorbing all the shock it can

  • Back in the old days, if you hit something at higher speeds, the driver would be severely injured. Nowadays, the front would just absorb the force and the drivers would have minimal injuries. Think about it. Junk or whatever, would you rather be driving a car that is so stiff that in a collison your body takes all the force of the crash or would be rather be driving a car that cusions the collision.

  • @VE9REJ

Except you wouldn't be brushing anything off in your casket, but at least your family might be able to use the vehicle. I guess the car is more important?

  • HA ha Im not saying there building Junk , there building " Plastic " .And caskets are made of wood veneer and steel .Wich in turn would probably do better than these car sold today .Wanna jump in and try lol .

  • oh , so true , this is why i like the classics better than the new cars , tis the right choice

  • Issn't that a Cadillac? I getting confused by all this weird Ameican cars....

  • its japanese

  • then take a bus! lol j/k

  • @lilshane93 idk why are you??

  • Why do i watch these crash test videos?

  • They're addictive.

  • they should make new cars out of cast iron instead of this plastic shit, keep the design and body style, and make them much stronger.

  • Yes, then lets make lead balloons.

  • Yea, too bad gas isn't getting any cheaper!

  • but this way is cheaper and on big crashes the energy is taked by the flexible parts, so the driver just take a part of it !

anyway, this crash test is pretty useless, how many cars with a 3 feet bumper have you seen on the driveway? maybe the crash would be pretty much on the bumper and not right between the eyes! haha

  • Im thinking the same as ya .Jee's a little bump and your out $4500.00 in repairs.

  • this test is fault

modern cars do not have bumpers like that yellow thing anymore

if it wasnt that skinny/thin, it would of been diff

  • aww shit, my mom has this car and she always hits my mailbox.

  • Comment removed

  • how can compare them.... i have maxima and proud.... only bad thing about japanies cars is that they are not made in japan anymore, camry accord altima.... thats where we get sentra looking car and with MADE IN USA. check the WIN numbers and see the difference.

  • now i know why the 08 accord has sooooooo many problems. MADE IN USA!

  • some of the new Accord is made in Japan. my cousin bought one that's made in Japan.

  • hurt me i got one of those

  • bumper 2 low

  • @ashjohnsonsen But it's saver for pedestrians....

  • not really, its more of the shape of it that in effect pushes the bumper lower after impact and into the radiator

  • If the hood can no more be fixed, this car has to be towed after such a slightly crash, which can happen every day on every parking site.

  • bumper too low

  • You know people are bashing American cars for being junk...please, look up owner reviews, and you will find that there are many pissed off Nissan owners. And personally, I would rather pay less for "American Junk" than spending a crapload on "Import Junk." But I guess thats just me....

  • Yup, agreed. All brands make good and bad cars. While waiting for my Kia to be serviced at the dealer, I walked next door to Nissan. I sat in a few models in the showroom and I was SO dissapointed with the quality. It's noticeably less than Kia. Versa uses that cheap trunk carpet in the cabin! The plastics in it and the Sentra looked cheap. Doors shut with a rattle on the Murano. Sad when a $35k Nissan looks/feels/sounds cheaper than an $18k Kia. Japanese brands NOT all their cracked up to be.

  • I could not have said it better. Im certainly not saying that all imports are bad, because you cannot deny some of the models that are top-notch. But when I was last car shopping, I compared my Dodge Avenger R/T to a Toyota Camry. I got the Avenger for about $8K less than the mid-level Camry I was looking at. Is the Avenger the best car on the road? No. But I have better things to do than spend extra money on a car just so I dont have to hear a little road noise. Plus the Dodge is way more fun:)

  • This looked very similar to the '07 G6.

  • 2007 altima only had $969 damage in the same test

    bumper is too low here

  • Cant buff that out

  • bumper is 2 low

  • if jap cars are garbage than why is gm and chrysler going under. huh? americans must love garbage

  • Poor maxima =(

  • Also there was $12,000 of damage to the Range Rover...Lol

  • My seventeen year old sister has the same car...She rear ended my moms 2008 Range Rover and there was only $2,350 done to the rear end of the Maxima

  • We didn't need to know the year of it to know that your sister is an idiot.

  • if the maxima rear ended the range rover ..why did the rear end of the maxima hav damage?

  • omg..

japanese cars are ... lol ...

  • Pontiac G6 check it out lol just the same

  • pwnage

  • japanese cars are absolute garbage doors are paper thin, expensive as hell to fix

  • lol, just lol.

  • hahaha. i had that exact crash about 3 months ago. and have been driving around with a bent hood ever since, and can still hit 120mph without any issues.

  • HMM...

    Hood replacement

    Grill Replacement

    Hood latch replacement

    AC Condenser damage

    Possible Radiator damage

    Headlight damage

    Bumper replacement / Repaint

Thats about right, of course in my 95 Maxima that only cost $1300, and I was going as fast as this guy...

  • that is just pathetic.

  • Now that is what you call a piece of shit car! I should know, I own one! Fucking thing's engine pings like if the fucking engine was a bean in a coffee can. Glad to hear that the '09 Maximas are better.

  • do u use premium? if not thats your problem The VQ35 is a great motor. Just people tend not to use premium and it causes detonation or the pinging sound you hear. BTW the same motor is in the 09 max and maximas all the way back to 95 when it was the VQ30

  • Premium? Well that's bullshit. Who wants a car that needs premium. It's not even a luxury car. My '95 Maxima ran fine on regular and got almost 30mpg hwy. Great motor. Manual trans sucked though. Started going bad at 125k. The trans I'm talking, not the clutch. Even though it was a big car, it felt so dinky and unsubstantial. Felt cheap. Steering was over-boosted. The motor was the only good thing about that Maxima. Totally overrated car otherwise.

  • Then dont buy one. If you werent useing premium you were basically setting your car up for engine failure. Its no wonder why your tranny was going. As for feeling cheap what cars are you used to driving Maximas were always known for there qualiity and yes they were upscale. The altima was meant to compete with the accord . That is the car you should have baught. I still have a 00 Maxima with 150k and its running and driving perfect. Although after 03 the maxima is not what it used to be

  • Deformation at low speed is good to safe pedestrians, but it should bounce back without damage.

Any why don't they use overriders anymore? It takes a miracle for these bumpers to line up in a collision...

  • i plowed into the rear of one of these maximas and i just had to replace a fender thats it and the maxima got a giant gash in its left rear. maxima got over 5k in damages i hit it at 40mph and i only replaced a fender $150 bucks...and i was driviing and still am driving my 96 chrysler sebring coupe. now why did i pay less?? my car was declared a loss because my damages were worth more then my car of course...i am in the collision business and i only spent $150 thats all no more.

  • Aren't these done at 10mph now?

  • everything just went downhill as soon as nissan started to assemble their cars in america. not the cars, just the material

  • The 2009 Nissan Maxima is like the safest car in the world

  • yeah, you saw the crash test right?

  • But the new ones are really good

  • wow i can get my stang turbocharged for that much. it would be a great insurance scam with this car i gotta say

  • $4500 in damage for a 6mph impact? Hell to the no. My entire car didn't cost me that much, lol.

  • my car is about $4,500 & I put another

5 grand so a near $10,000 dollar car is

so much worth it JDM is mos def worth

it Gas mileage is getting pussy 2

    Human that is

    my '96 Nissan I30t green w/ shine

well its a rebulit Maxima so so def

    I'm sliding of fo fo's

  • nissan thinks it can excuse itself from these high costs and damage because of its crumple zones. cheap trick

  • most cars hav the crumple zone thing now

  • good technology

  • if the bumper on the maxima was a little higher you would have less then a grand in damages. but because the bumber is so low you need a new bumber, grille, hood and maby even more

  • the problem probably isn't the bumper itself, its the fact that the bumper is too low. Notice how the simulated bumper went completely over the Maxima's bumper and right into the hood and grille...

  • i ant pay that much to fix this peice of shit

  • fuck u , you JDM hater u prob drive

a chevy truck that allways breaks down

  • ha ha ironically your name is chevy

  • I dont like how cars now a days have those kind of bumpers (if we can call them that) they make them all round and instead of absorbing the impact they send the object or car directly into the hood.

  • well then dont crash and all will be fine

  • whyyyyy 4.535$ ??
