The reason you can leave references off your CV is that a good CV should be designed to get you the interview (not the job), a company won't need references until they offer you the job and it's then that they'll ask for them, not before.
Think of every word on your CV as precious and try and keep it to two pages - telling an employer how you successfully exceeded sales targets is more likely to get you an interview than giving them your references contact details.
references are really not important? I find that a little odd....

Learnt a lot from the first 3 CV vids, the fourth ones a bit of an advert though. Great interview vids on the channel too.
