i am better than zappa.. i am talent for irritating people with my notes... not just executives... sorry zappa, you are just not born for playing the wrong notes... <3
i post this comment to all of the guitar players out there who are struggling to find that secret space in your head when your soloing. I tried my best to get to the same mindset of thinking as Frank plays...needless to say that night at the bar while playing music with the band i'm in, i tapped into something that unleashed my spirit into my fingers and into the guitar....thank you so much Frank Zappa
Unfortunately, Dweezil seems to have a big stick up his ass about anyone besides himself playing Frank's music. He put all kinds of pressure on the clubs Ike was booked into with Project/object earlier this year to cancel shows and actually succeeded here in Massachusetts. That being said, I've been to Z.P.Z. a few times and it is a great show. I got to meet Napolian Murphy Brock and Ike Willis a few years back at a show. Great guys and great musicians. Dweezil and Gail need to lighten up!
you hardly know what to expect in zappa's solos. his soloing is closer to life/nature. Other guys play some ufo alien military type crap. There are brilliant technicians out there but this guy was a composer who just happened to play the elec. guitar!
He shoulda been playin' his SG, but beggars can't be choosers, eh? I'm thankful to have been able to see a 5 hour show at Meadowbrook Theater, MI in '84 when he was touring You are What You IS. Bobby Brown for 1/2 hour! The show opened with Mudd Club-ROCK N ROLL. Before Frank died, I was writing him in for PREZ when I voted.
the solo that steve vai played fir this song on broadway the hardway is mind blowing. but i need that special van halen style wammy bar to play it the way he does.

Wonderful vocal harmonies at the end there. And the solo is one of Frank's best, I think. Very expressive and melodic.
I've actually never heard this song before. Weird.

a demonstration of that is the dueling on Stevie's spanking with Steve Vai. Vai is better as a technician but Frank has lot more fantasy

Awesome!! Joe's Garage was the first Frank Zappa album I bought, and it's still my favorite of any modern artist! Thanks!
