  • At (0:33) it sounds like the hornline is saying, "HOLD ON NOW, FOR THE BIG CLOSE IS COMIN'!"

    If so, they weren't lyin'.

    DAMN!!

  • One of our Marching Instructors marched Contra in 2008 for Cadets and he was telling us a story about 0:52 , and how he yelled to fatty and got all of the instructors to watch him do that set. I hear he nailed it and basically had to do a 3/5 to get from corner to corner. HAHAHA! I seriously love this drill:)

  • @CaryHSMB Wrong, fatty is always right!

  • those last few notes just killed the ending for me

  • that is some DAMN impressive drill!

  • man oh man

  • This Drill is just... OMG... WOW WOW WOW WOW! No other corps on the planet can do it!!!!!

  • How can you NOT just stand up and scream your ASS off at 1:10 onward??? I was, and I'm alone at my computer

  • holy shit, talk about DAYS and WEEKS of practice and ALOT of people running into each other lol

but they did a great job

  • I didn't care too much for this show, but this is probably my most favorite drill moment ever!

  • What a great year. Luckily, my age-out is the single year that finals won't be held at Lucas Oil (which is until after 2018, I think). Hope it's at an outdoor stadium like this one. I heard Bloomington was a much better venue.

  • Every year they move the majority of time unlike some Drum Corps

  • Now that's the way to end a show!

  • some intense drill too

  • I wish Cadets would keep the commentary out of their show. It's unnecessary and takes away from the gorgeous music. That chord at :30.....

  • To me, this ties as the best dci moment of 2008 with Finis and some sparticus action.

  • dude, thats some of the cleanest, fastest form to form marching ever. awesome job.

  • This was my favorite show ending in '08.

  • omgsh they play vesuvis which is one of my favorite pieces ever

  • AGHGHGH SHE SHOOK IT ON THE LAST PART!!! I'm a bass and that saddens me...

  • 0:19 to 0:30 gives me chills e v e r y s i n g l e t i m e

  • @wannabesi06 I saw it live in Allentown. My face melted.

  • @musicalmitch12 Same happened to me. I was just luck, "Oh that's ni-" (Face was melted by the.

  • was some of this from a song called vesuvius

  • @craig86s their closer is vesuvius.

  • This. Is. INCREDIBLE. I love the end of this show with a passion. Drill design, brass, percussion, this last segment has it ALL. This show alone has made me fall in love with The Cadets and I am now a die hard fan.

  • Loved the drill, that was intense - my friend Joey marched trumpet that year

  • BEST. ENDING. EVER. PERIOD.

  • That's one of the craziest drill endings I've ever seen.

  • OMG GREAT ENDING! but perosnly i think those last quite notes at the end killed it for me

  • you guys should see the finals vid one of the percussion judges got caught in the drumlines drill in the back it was so funny

  • what corp was it? I wanna see it

  • it was this show which is the cadets

  • WHAT??? I've seen it quiet a few times I never see a judge caught in the line

  • i saw it on one of the "...best/top ten dci something or other..." vids it was an aerial view of all this drill and one of the judges was like dogding and rolling to get out of the way. ill try and find the vid and post a link

  • I believe it was the top DCI endings. something like that.

  • @AllStater09 Watch Jeremy Bugle best 2008 moment video, and you can clearly see a judge dodging to band, Look near the drumline.

  • ruined at 1:28 by her god-awful cheering.

  • their drill is always the best, every year.

  • no corp can compare to their drill

  • i can never get bored of this

  • Cadets always have the most epic drill. And to think they have to play while marching as well?!

  • They always have crazy endings like this year WOW

  • They aren't really machines... they are more of marching gods :P

  • 0:24-0:30 is epic!!

  • WOW!

    just amazing.. mind-blowing actually.

  • best development into a company front ive ever seen, well done Cadets

  • CHRIS CASTILLE!!!!

  • This Guard Is PHENOMENAL!

  • hardest minute and thirty seconds of the 2008 season, by far. So much demand.

  • thats how you end a show!

  • i think i jizz every time i watch a cadets ending with that perfect straight line. everyone's always in step and its so fast. i love this corps.

  • See the last set? It looks like a keyhole.

    The Zone, Part III

  • guess what guys?

    they aren't talking this year!!!!

and yes... everyone who sees them live is definitely in for a treat.

  • Yea... And they are doing West Side Story again.. WOOT!!!!! No one does West Side Story like the Holy Name Cadets!!!

  • i just saw the cadets today live on the fan network

and everyone thats gonna see them live is up for a very good treat

  • The Cadets Drill Writer also writes for my high school. our show last year featured a similar ending with the company front and the battery and guard in the back. Awesome

  • nice

  • whats up Phillip?

  • Umm..you forgot the U after the 2nd L and the 11. lol. yea hi joe..The username and comment gave it away to easy. lol. :P

  • yeah the username kinda gives it away. ready for camp?

  • Definitely one of the best endings ever :)

  • 48 is the beastliest drum part. I love it, they are just plowing through to the sideline, spiting out some awesome licks, but hten they go to the back and run and try to kill a judge ;)

  • they...just...dont...stop!!

    LOL Go Cadets!

  • 1:22

one of the best company front transitions i've ever seen

  • This is why the Cadets are the Cadets...

    nuff said

  • This part of the show was the best for many reasons, but the most important for me was that there was no talking and they just played. I think they could have won if it wasn't for all the talking.

  • I love a good clean mello sound. I think I just wet myself literally. (No not literally)

  • Man, and I thought the 2007 ending was insane.

  • 0:27 God take a look on the Mellos and say: Holy Shit

  • that was beautiful lol I cried =)

  • Wow....It takes lots of stamina and breath to do that......And not for a short moment but for over almost a full minute...The still and will always stand the name of "The Holy Name Cadets"

  • Unbelievable closer that took tons and tons of time, patience and practice to get down, and for it to look as clean as THAT.... Damn. These boys and girls definitely deserve some props for this. I just dislike what the corps itself has evolved into through the past decade. It's too bad. But this, this certainly proves that the Holy Name can still (and will) take names.

  • whoa..that's a jaw-dropping ending. :O

  • REPOST FANTASIA 2004 PLEASE!

  • WGI took it down fast again.

  • argh! i'm so desperate to see it.

you shouldn't title or tag it with anything that WGI can track down. just randomly name it, and i'll check under your videos today or tomorrow. please?

    name it "secret" or something!

  • LOL yea i know what you mean

  • are you talking about flight of the conchord's femident toothpaste?

  • .............................

  • I am a big fan of Cadet's drill, always fresh.

    Nice job

  • I think the cadets are going to win this year.

  • if they kill hopkins, sure.

  • lol maybe get bopped on the head with a giant microphone or something?

  • no narration this year. lol

  • I like our bass synthesizer! :)

  • What would that accomplish? We would still be doing the same things.

  • Wow...sometimes I forget the kind of insane machine that the top drum corps are

  • narration or not that is insane! that the reason im going to try out for cadets their marching is awesome!

  • We never get tired of thier fast marching.....I wished i could that.....

  • Love those mellos at :27

  • agreed!

  • This show would've been alot more awesome if there was: 1) NO TALKING!!! All of their shows from '05 on would've been better with minimal or no talking at all. 2) They should've left the ending they had instead of Hopkins taking it out. From seeing his quarters interview, you could tell he was giving up. I have to say that the Vesuvius was arranged really well. I played it in concert band once and it's certainly no easy piece like alot of Ticheli is.

  • maybe that'll mean no narration next year hopefully i heard a clip of the 09 program its pretty sweet stuff

  • they also play an awesome drill show...

they could play the music, even the drill very difficult i think...

    they're amazing..go Cadets

  • that shit is bananas. i remember the first regional they put the new drill in people were falling everywhere. then at the next one there was less and when they had no one and cleaned it it looked amazing. I do miss the smiley face...

  • Amazing in all aspects.

  • They just never stop being awesome... and I love every bit of it.

  • :) your comment just made my morning

more awesomeness coming in 09 :)

  • Great drill and performance, can do without the talking tho. :)

  • INTENSE!!!

  • "...and the Pursuit of Happiness"

  • what is the name of this show?

  • You gotta watch their feet... Nothing sweeter than Cadets technique when it's clean and above 200bpm. Best marching I've seen in a few years..... Watch them chickens bounce!

  • 0:18 - 0:31 My Favorite musical moment of their show.

  • Hackensack?

This is an awesome classic Cadets ending!

I tried to march in 94 but it was simply to Hard core even back then, I still love the Garfield Cadets, Cadets of Bergen County and The Cadets! Keep it up and see u in the future!

  • Simply AMAZING!

  • WHY DID THEY NOT WIN???

  • the question to ask yourself is, why do you think they should have won

  • i am a fan of the cadets. and there are some years i ask that. but i agree this year with placements. Phantom Regiment in my opinion deserved to win.

  • it's just band

  • yeah, it's just band, along with a few hundred people who would give their lives for it.

  • anyone know the original hometown of the cadets?

  • Allentown, PA

  • they started out as 'The Holy Name Fife and Drum Corps' because they were endorsed by "The Church of the Most Holy Name" then they moved to garfeild, then burgen county.

    i think.

  • just as bejay said the church of the most holy name which was in garfield, nj

  • that was something to respect. Crazy marching. AWESOME!

  • :48 love the drum line

  • oh damn, that is some sweet fuckin drill... we tend to under appreciate drill, what with all the ridiculous musical things going on. but that... man, so following and energetic

  • Oh my...

  • Every time I had watched this, I was always fixated on the brass drill, but I'll be damned if the stuff the battery is marching isn't the work of some cracked-out, deranged, masochistic drill writer.

    Sacktig is a god.

  • amazing.

  • what?

  • :26 sec wooo baby

  • I wondering how most of them could NOT fall with that drill. lol

  • Mid July at San Antonio, four hornline members bit the ground during the closer... Within about a 50 second span.... If that tells you at how difficult and fast this drill actually is......

  • DUDE!! you saw that too!?! man yeah. i remember that one. the last guy who fell that night bit it hard

  • Haha yeah at the final straight line.. Pretty sure it was a chick because I was 7 rows away from her. But... She fell on her ass then rolled forward and then fell to her hands and knees then got up in time for her to run to her spot and get the horns down... I seriously thought she had spranged her ankle or got injured. It was pretty hardcore.

  • I remember watching this in San Antonio. It was perfect until the VERY end and a euphonium player fell. Doesn't matter...awesome drill, awesome music...just hate the voice-overs. Such is life, I like to think it's their thing that makes them unique. Every corp has something like that...

  • Four hornline members fell during the closer at San Antonio

  • I thought only 2 fell during the fast rotating boxes. (Both were right next to me).

  • 2 fell at the last company front for the end of the show

  • I don't see it. Where?

  • nobody fell

  • in san antonio not this video. If you have the fannetwork you can see it happen there

  • btw i was in no way trying to dis the cadets. i could never do drill like that even if i was lance armstrong with musical talent so kudos to all the cadets members

  • i remember that in san antonio

  • Damn, now that's what I call intense!

    -The Homie

  • For Holy Name Shall Always Be. See you guys in 2009!

  • Jeff Sacktig has been writing drill for The Cadets since 1995 (took 2002 off)....before that, it was Marc Sylvester from 1988 to 1994, then the great George Zingali from....I think 1982 to 1987, though someone can correct me on this.

  • In answer to your first question, Jeff Sacktig writes the drill for The Cadets.

  • BEAUTiFUL <3

  • Marc Sylvester just wanted the corps to step off on the right foot in 1985.

The technique is the standard straight-leg a lot of hs bands use. Only thing is Cadets are incredibly picky with it because we have bright pants with a atripe on it.

  • i'm gonna be honest, i'm gonna bLeEd BLUEEEE this summer, but the cadets technique kicks the ass out of anyone i've ever seen, ever.

  • That is how you end a show.

  • My knees still hurt when I watch this. Thanks yeershat.

  • What'd I do to your knees?

  • I mean thanks for posting the video. (joe)

  • I was there Semis and Finals, and that finals run of the last 2 minutes was ASTOUNDING.

  • That is madness. Absolute madness. How are they not all dead?

  • No that was absurd :-)

  • no, the blue devils were absurd...

  • WOW they are moving thier asses off

  • HOLY SHIT

  • The Cadets don't f*** around when it comes to ending a show. Seriously.

  • that drill is nuts

  • I seen this show all summer never this high. Truly Awesome!

  • Jesus Christ...

  • this closer rules, ridiculous ending
