MANY PEOPLE CLAIMED TITANIC BROKE APART ON THE SURFACE SHE WOULD HAVE BROKE APART ON THE EXPANSION JOINT. AND CAPTAIN SMITH WHO WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR GROUNDING 3 OTHER SHIPS AND COAL FIRES ON2 OTHERS SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN GIVEN TITANIC HE DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH EXPERIANCE
One day in about 100 yrs..People are going to look back and say..wow they had this thing called Youtube..look at all the funny names people were called back then..and look how rude they were as they were typing away!
Wow I had never heard of this documentary before! And I love the narrator, David McCallum, he's excellent in NCIS and I love how his voice suits the narration of Titanic!
Titanic's loss of life was the thing that really stutters me. If they fully loaded the lifeboats, they would have been able to save 1 706 people instead of 899. Its also kind of weird how many authors came super close to predict exactly how the titanic sank, Like the book "Futility or The wreck of Titan" which predicted exactly what was going to happen. Also kind of weird how the Titanic almost got hit by another ship when leaving for it's first...and last journey.
I think this is one of the most incredible documentaries of all time...and all the more incredible that it was made, not for the big screen, but for TV. Jack Thayer's words, spoken at the end (the same spoken at the beginning), set to the music, are some of the most beautiful and haunting ever.
I love everything about this documentary: the footage, the interviews, the music...it all just sets the perfect tone! Its my favourite Titanic documentary! :)
I remember this documentary, I used to watch the 4 tape collection alot in my childhood, I just refound them now, but can't play them because they are VHS, lucky its on youtube
funny you should mention that... because in one of the parts a woman says they were booked on another ship.. and where moved to the titanic instead.. "we were over the moon"... i know it sinks... but if i was them, even knowing that... id still be over the moon... and id still take the titanic >_>
It is available on DVD...I've had it for about two years now! Narrated by David McCallum ( famous for his Ilya Kuryakin role in the "Man frm U.N.C.L.E." series ), who portrayed Titanic's Morse operator, Harold Bride, in "A Night to Remember."
@Titan752 yeah i have a night to remember on dvd the best movie ever made about the titanic sinking in my opinion all others pale into insignificance!
Does anyone know how I can obtain this DVD? This is, next to Walter Lords book, A Night to Remember, the best documentary/info feature on the RMS Titanic,...
sadly only one survivor is still alive Millvina Dean but she was only two months old when the Titanic sank and has no recollection of the sinking. The documentary was released in 1994 it must have been made that same year or made in 1993.
And his drawing of the sinking he was one of those survivors who claimed that Titanic broke apart on the surface. But many other survivors said she sank in one piece. Many believed the survivors who said is sank intact it was not until the wreck was found in 1985 that they learned that Thayer and the other survivors who said she broke were right after all.
I can't believe it has nearly been a whole century since the Titanic sunk.

@avpkid345 Ironic also that one of those authors was a passenger on Titanic.

@avpkid345 Titan is a little different from the Titanic. Essentially the ship in the Titani rammed into the iceberg ad fell on it sde.
