Hello Danny. Excellent review. I think I recommended this #24 to you but I can't remember it that well... next time I open a tin of it I'll be revisiting this video. One thing I remember, however, is being impressed by the flavour changes though out the bowl.
I think you did! It was a while ago I guess. This blend and #25 are, in my opinion, two of the better blends by McClelland. The only McClelland virginia that I believe surmounts them is Christmas Cheer.
Looks as though it took you 44 minutes to make this video. Not that it matters, I just watched the clock in the background. Great review. As for tongue bite, same here beer hasn't had an affect but cola's have.
Yup. I did that on purpose just to show how long the edits are that I cut out. There's a lot of blank staring at the camcorder or stupid things that I say that make the edits. lol
The sad thing is that there have been 2 or 3 minute videos I've done in the past that took over an hour to film. Talk about poor planning. HA!
I drink beer w/ my pipe. Never have t-bite w/ the combo. If I have t-bite & drink soda or brush my teeth it flairs the pain bad! Good review my friend. Have a nice weekend.
Yes! Your descriptions are right on (for me anyway!). McClelland has some great stuff...I tried a number of their Virginias, and I think way back I may have had a tin of this, or was it 25? LOL
Have you happened to try any of the other McClelland Virginia blends: #22 or #25? If so, I am curious what are some of the differences you've noticed. I am thinking of trying a straight virginia blend like one of these just to train my palette to recognize all the subtleties of a true virginian blend. - Jeff
I love #25 but I'm not sure about #23, or if it exists. I tried looking it up but no results came up. Differences are subtle at the beginning of the bowls, but the true distinctions come through half way down the bowl. At least, that's what I've noticed. So many Virginia blends I have yet to try.
Thank you for your thoughts again. I like you editing variety fast forward, effect cuts and others. Keeps it interesting to me. I need some editing software better that Movie Maker. thanks Gregg
Thanks! I use PowerDirector 9 with pretty good results. Of course, my computer struggles to keep up with high volume video renderings. Just for pipes vids... lol.
Thanks for another great review. It's a pity that Mcclelland and many other US brands are hard to come by for us on the other side of the pond.
I've never had a problem with carbonated drinks and bite. I'm starting to think that this is something someone once experienced and wrote about as gospel. Historically, smoking the pipe and having a beer has always been considered a good combination. As with most things pip related: It's subjective. :)
Realy good video. I have not tried Virginia No. 24, but you have done just a good job at explaining I feel i have a idea of what it would or could taste like.

True, true. In addition, I think darker beers tend to go even better with pipes than ales for instance. Once again, subjectivity prevails.
