  • Agreed. This should have been on every greatest hits album. That would be like leaving out 25 or 6 to 4 on a Chicago "Hits" album.

  • @MrCadillacLT1 - I have a Chicago hits album ("The Heart of Chicago") that doesn't include 25 or 6 to 4. Totally irked me. :(

  • What a TREASURE this song truly is. Time to learn it on Bass I think. Best Bread song. Never forgotten it, still sounds as good and fresh as it always has. Thanks heaps for posting.

  • GOOD OLDIE................

  • thanks - havent heard this for 35 years and its still as good as i remember - should have been included in more of their albums

  • This is a tad off but I remember it as a hell of a tune! Hard to find!

  • I remember yeah, what ?

  • This is one of the best songs ever. Really good sound the way they over drive the amp a bit. The rest of bread was OK for their pop songs. This was rock.

  • There was a bar band in St. Louis back in '73 that I'd use my brother's I.D. to sneak in to see. They were called "Daybreak" and they did all the Bread songs dead on! The "Castaway Club" on Natural Bridge Rd.. Good times!

  • LOL, RIGHT ON! The one track on my sister's Bread album I'd crank! Damn, this brings back some serious memories, thanks for posting this golden old nugget!

  • Wow - nice to know there are other people in the world who remember and love this song! I remember when I first heard this in 1980, when I was learning to play heavy rock guitar, and being surprised that Bread had done such a rock-out song.

  • I agree!! This was probably the greatest rock song that came out the summer of 1971!

  • My dad played Bread, America, Alan Parson Project and Simon & Garfunkel all the time on his record player when I was a youngster in the early 80s. Thanks for playing!

  • I honestly believe that this song should have made it ALOT higher on the charts.

  • This song made it to #37 on the Billboard Hot 100 (July 17,1971). And some people (mistakenly) think that Bread never recorded any rockin' songs!

If you want to freak out some more, check out 'Autumn' by Edgar Winter Group (on his They Only Come Out At Night album). It's mellow!

  • I remember this song and it still rocks today!

Thought it reached further up the charts than that though.

    Thanks for posting!

  • p.s. I still have it on 8-Track!!

  • 1971 release? I first heard it in college freshman year 1975 listening to the best of bread album that a firend had. A very good song in my opinion.

  • They also released "Let Your Love Go" as a single earlier that same year. Another rocker. Like 3 Dog Night, they had the vocal harmonies, but they could still rock.

  • Ahh.... the good old days. Thanks for sharing.

  • This brings back a lot of nice memories. My dad used to play this on his Elac -Miracord Turnrable.

  • Thanks for posting this! It made me feel like an easygoing kid again. I still have my copy of this album! Time warp. Thanks!

  • great fidelity with vinyl

  • that was a nice trip dowm memory lane thanks

  • I like their other songs, but I always loved this one. Great change-up from their usual style.

  • yeh , rock on james griffin , you got a great sound , love your dynamics , . . . good pre grunge sound, . . . I will out jammy griffin jrs my space

  • GREAT VIDEO!!!!!LOL INFLUENZA

  • i found a bread record with this song on it at my grandpas i never heardof bread before but its a dope song

  • Gotta love this song..one of the first Bread songs I ever heard..love that warp sound on the album..brings back memories..though I'm not sure my album wouild even play this well

  • Nice discovery. I only knew If and The Guitar Man, great ballads, but not all of their repertoire. The Your Patent Golden Oldie idea -> A band makes stacks of records and only six or less songs make it to the radio

    Hi from The Netherlands

  • A fav! Thanks! ;-)

  • They never include this on any of their 'hit' collections...why? Because it rocked??

  • I believe the album he is playing is 'Best of Bread'.

Great song though, great sound quality too.

  • @Carlito1988 - what are you talking about? It's included on "The Best of Bread," the album shown in this video. That's where I first heard it.

  • awesome song

  • truckin' down the highway... that's the other hit that was more of their rockin tunes... and i can't seem to find it on youtube however i wanna hear it something aweful son-of-a motha *!@ argh its drivin meee nuts

  • pretty sure its just called Truckin' man, atleaast thats what the album says. regardless, good tune aswell, but this is the hardest bread gets, shame they didnt make more music like this.

  • Check out Truckin' by Jimmy Griffin's son Jamey, of BREAD, and his other videos here on YOUTUBE. He sounds just like his DAD who sang Truckin' & other great Bread songs.. and check out Jimmy's other videos here too!!!

  • ohh yeaaahhh...!!!!!!

  • Yep....I remember singing along with this one...thanks for posting.

    CF

  • one of my all time favorites actually. most of bread was too pop and mellow for me, but this song had a ton going for it. thanks for the post. my albums are long since lost in a cross country move. no vinyl left.

  • They were a nice change, good musically and this was one of the best songs, they should have gone with more of this style.

  • Probably the hardest rocking thing Bread did, at least that I heard. Love it!

There was one other fairly rocking tune on their first greatest hits, and I can't think of the name of it.

  • Many think Bread was candy arse music. Well, this isn't your momma's rock and roll.

  • NICE
