I got into uni 5 years ago but I didn't get into engineering. I had to settle for this ridiculous mathematics degree. My commulative gpa wasn't high enough, even though I had individual outstanding grades from difficult subjects. I have two patents to my name, and the bastards still don't let me in. The crux of the matter is that I am tired of it all. I feel like my life is going down the gurgler. It has to do with my nerves. I am tired of life.
@tobbessen Sure, the big names are present in Poland but most vacancies of tedious, semi-brainless 'low level kind' e.g. models meshing for ANSYS analysis.
@Tome4kkkk I dont know what model meshing for ansys is (lean language knowledge). Is it designing parts by computer? But I suggest you have a very high qualification in aviation. In this case I would leave my home country without a doubt. But I am not sure if it is that easy get a job in the united states. europe is a bit disapointing when it comes to aviation. I mean the eurofighter is just old nowadays compared to f22, f35. I must say saab aviation is something that could be interesting.
@shylildude This comment is already 9 months ago. I will be shifting my course into Electronics and Communication engineering. I liked aeronautical engineering and I can say that it is very challenging.
Engineers come in many kinds and varieties. Design Engineering is the most glamorous branch. To be a successful Design Engineer you have to have passion and be very motivated in addition to having the background and the right "stuff".
Surprisingly you can be really good at math and physics and be a lousy design engineer. Learn how to apply all that you learn in school and always continue learning.
No, I am a Chemical Eng and you learn design but that does not mean that you will be designing in your job. It can be operations, supervising, manufacturing, regulatory compliance or even sales.
This is great. As a young engineer, hearing more people with the business acumen and maturity nessacary FROM INDUSTRY reflects very well on the field. Great work, and these kinds of brief talks would do a world of good for a well rounded education at most colleges around the nation.

I could apply for so many job vacancies around the world but I don't want to leave Poland. Where aviation industry is almost non existent...

@Tome4kkkk what do you mean? I have heard of Pratt and Whitney Canada in Rzeszow, Poland.

@shylildude
From the date of your comment, I'm guessing you've already picked your major?
If not, aero is HARD, but so very worth it. I'm third-year in it right now but looking to continue on to the masters.
Discussion between myself and my history student flatmate:
"So, what did you do this week? I've been working on my dissertation into women's rights in 19th century germany"
"Oh, I've been testing the exhaust-blown diffuser I designed and writing an essay on transonic aerodynamics."
Win.

aren't all engineers design stuff?
civil eng --design buildings
Elect eng --design electronic stuff
Mechan-eng --design machines

A lot of problem solving or paper pushing also.
