I meet Bobby and his wife a few years back in Philly at World Cafe Live. His son Taylor McFerrin introduced us. I must say he's as calm as he projects on stage and tons of fun musically. Taylor is just as impressive! Very talented :)

Why so slow? Are you trying to kill the man? The breathing he does in his standard arrangement is brutal enough. Now you're making him wait longer for a breath, & use his breath longer. I'm amazed he can even do it, but that he did it this slow is a miracle for even him

i never knew the prelude in c by bach was played with ave maria till i saw a video a long time... were they made for each other at the time or did someone put them together later?

Actually, the Ave Maria was made for Bach's "Präludium Nr. 1 in C Dur". It was superimposed on this prelude by the 19th century french romantic composer Charles Gounod, and the original title is "méditation sur le premier prélude de Bach". "Ave Maria" is the beginning of a catholic prayer, from which Gounod took the lyrics for his piece, and was later adapted to refer to it.

It's one of the most beautiful instruments I've ever had the good fortune to hear... I have in my possession an album of Rostropovich playing Bach's cello suites and although it's a little fast at times, it is beautiful.
