This reminds me of seeing The Band in Stockholm in 1970-71. I'll never forget the concert. It was on par with seeing Cream up close in the basement of the Community Concourse in San Diego on 19 May 1968, and with experiencing The Ike and Tina Turner Review and The Jimi Hendrix Experience at the San Diego Sports Arena on 25 May 1969. Thanks for the upload.
@thlund7 did you really see them play in Stockholm, I thought the only time they played in sweden was with Bob in 66? they played Copenhagen though 71... anyway i'm way jealous
@Gotesson jo, jag hörde dem i Stockholm när jag läste i Uppsala 1970-71. Det var troligen 1971, men jag är inte säcker. Men jag är absolut säcker att jag var där och det var jättekult!
yes, I heard them in Stockholm when I was studying in Uppsala 1970-71. It was probably 1970, but I'm not sure about that. But I am absolutely sure that I was there and that is was outstanding!
In a band of terrific musicians, the late Richard Manuel, here on piano and lead vocal and Levon Helm - drums were my two favorites. This track gets to me every time I hear it. They may have been tired of the road, but The Band quit way too soon and the comeback was too long in coming. The Horn section/s great here....Manuel would have been just as at home in front of the Ray Charles Band, The Funk Brothers or Kid Rock.
Richard Manuel 10+
