  • not funny but his knees gave up on him imagine walking up and down and standing still for hours on end :O

  • not so funny

  • I remember seeing one of the guard once whose bearskin strap went over his eyes. I giggled joyously that evening :D

  • Kudos to him for not falling!

  • he was surely executed for not walking like a guard should (to scare off theieves)

    XD jk

  • lmfaoooo

  • if you cant see anything how are you going to guard something. unless theyre just that dumb that they dont even move out of the way. buut good for him, thats comittment

  • They didn't mess up at all. They are on smooth stone with metal plates on their boots. Try marching like them on ice, pretty much what they are doing.

  • they didnt mess up they are on single sentry and can move on there own just that they were going the same way at the same time means nothing l should know l did it for 13 years

  • SCREWED

  • he handled that slip like a pro:)

If it was me i would probably face plant right to the ground!

  • These guys must have a court system when the bugger up. Must be lots of rounds of beer bought afterwards haha. I bet they have a good laugh

  • @Themanics4 I believe they wear red in the summer..

  • i thought they wore red, not black.

  • the queen should fire him

  • @mophed12 why fire himm they will all fall from time to time just like u how many times have u fallin since u were a kid to how ever old you are now ? he did nothin wrong plus it probably icy or somethin i do not know

  • Studded boots on concrete I

  • I agree that it's good to have tradition. Know where your roots are. If Americans think this is non-sensical.. you're foolish, because a lot of our military has such traditions. Just because England has Castles (before our time as Americans), doesn't make them out of date. I'm sure if America was established in the castle-building era.. we would have them around still. Oh wait, many of our building of significance from our founding still exist. People need to chill out.

  • why do people always make the most obvious and stupid comment of... "this is out of time", "out of date", "pompous nonsense" etc... so what if it is? aren't we allowed to keep the few traditional and ceremonial stuff we have left that makes our countries all unique? or would you rather we all become boring 'modern' societies that all seem to be much of the same?

  • this ceremony is sooo redundant and out of time. typical british conservative politics.

  • @ManuelMMM1 someones got to guard the palace.

  • @alex471996

Yep mate You are right there,

Those Guardsmen do a bang-up job 'cos If the Queen ever got loose

Just imagine all the Buildings She would open or Ships She could launch if she ever got free.!

    It would be mayhem.!

  • why do they slip so much this must be the third fourth video i saw a guard slip in, they hold it together fairly well to be fair though

  • @DrSalvador4 in order to get the crisp sound of the boot striking the ground many boots have a metal semi-circular plate at the heal. And as someone who has marched with this let me assure you they have no bloddy grip at all...especially on concrete..in the wet..downhill or god forbid all three.

  • yea there real hard to kill boom headshot

  • Props to them. Not many people can do that job, and do it well. They are allowed a slip up every now and then.

  • MOST STUPID WORK EVER!

  • @wdowa94 Fail. Their job is important. Try attack the Queen, and you'll get your head down your ass in one second.

  • @AvatarMarxon90 Their rules are stupid

  • @AvatarMarxon90 Britain is still stuck in the ages of good ol' queens and castles. If someone wanted to murder Queen, it wouldnt probably take more than good sniper or crazy suicide terrorist with explosives powerful enough to blow a castle..

  • @laitela01

and of course america has never had a president assassinated...o wait....

  • wow why put this video on here... if you have served in the army then you will know that the bottom of the boots are covered in steel studs... hence the slip

  • These guys are great!!! Top notch all the way!

  • They are walking on marble with shoes that have no grip , so what do you expect

  • Theseguys are awsome

  • ah yes funny maybe but you got to remember why there are so many videos of the guards sliping etc if u dnt know what they are look up hob nail boots and then u will see why this happens alot also i dnt think its fair to be laughing at the guards who do a amazing job and of course many people forget they also do full active service as well as guard dutys so lets not laugh to much.

  • it seems they tend to slip when they stop and do the foot stamp thing. Too much momentum from stopping all of a sudden and slippery shoes.

  • when they do the about turn

  • haha lol

i went at the same time there is see this live

    it was on 2.11 around 11-12 o´clock right ?

  • I think it's only a testament to how good these guys are at their jobs that it's considered amazing/hilarious when they mess up even a little bit.

  • Well said sir!

  • Indeed

  • @nopushbutton

    So true.

  • @nopushbutton

    True, true. :)

  • @nopushbutton not only that but they regularly are involved in tours of warzones in a full military capacity

  • It's the shoes, that are like that. Had similar shoes on my service too, and they are really slippery on rocks and other hard surfaces. Everytime we had to do a 180 degree turn, we were praying we wouldn't slip :D

But these things happend and there are certain things to do if it happends, the most important thing naturally is to keep your posture and just continue in a proper military fashion :) These things happend, and have happened and all the guards know that. We are still humans, not machi

  • Ah, you guys lighten up, he pulled it together. It's gonna happen now and then.

  • thisisnt funny at all....

  • Americans only see their own navel. For them, the capital of Europe is London.

  • Im american and i respect these soldiers i agree tho most americans are idiots who make fun when they cant do it themselves

  • why does this happen all the time?? there are more videos of the same kind. Is it the shoes of the guards or the floor of the palace yard that is slippy or what?

  • I think they slip a lot mostly down the the shoes they wear, they have a thin metal plate on the base to help make the sound that you hear when they stamp their foot in. I am guessing on the type of floor they have to parade on it just doesn't agree with the metal plates.

  • Try marching with horse shoes on your heels and metal studs on the rest of the sole.

    Absolutely minimal grip.

  • The shoes dont have any grip and the floor is very smooth.

  • The shoes have leather soles with hob nails and a horse shoe shaped plate at the heel and toe. The, are where they march has been worn really smooth from years of guards marching guard duty, so even the slightest dampness makes it really slippery. Look up Ammo Boot on Google, you'll see what they look like.

  • what are they guarding?????

  • Buckingham Palace. The Queen's London home.

  • @BeastieBoyUK Are they allowed to shoot, are they above cops?

  • Yes they are allowed to shoot and they are above cops in terms of Buckinham palace.

  • The worlds largest collection of The Dukes of Hazzard DVD's. The Queen obviously -_-

  • @deny1700 Video title ???????? Queens guard..... I'll let you work it out :)

  • i want to fight a brit

  • we would just beat you

  • Fight one of those soliders in front of the Palace, and then we can all stand and watch you get your ass publically kicked up and down the pavement. Brits would pay to see shit like that.

  • No you don't make any sense. Except the bit where you describe yourself as an animal. You confirm that fact with your inability to communicate coherently.

  • Now you're getting boring. Please, piss off!

  • I don't get why they don't use proper grip on their boots.

  • because it would be alot quieter than with a smooth flat bottom and you wouldint hear them marching, its all show afterall

  • lol

  • lmfao

  • that was about as funny as kicking my nan down the stairs

  • @importedmusic so absolutely hilarious then?

  • i dont get it

  • wot a dumb! lol

  • i think that hat is too heavy

  • SO CUTE

  • Don't blame the guy. He was with his mates at the pub watching a football game and had a few too many. Can happen to any guy. Especially when there's football and beer involved.

  • Oh so true.

  • ahahahha that was sooooooo funny when he hold the door

  • lol, that was actually funny

  • I would not have the attention span or patience to march back and forth for 2 hours. Especially if it was icey and cold. If I was stuck in that job, I'd probably be sliding/skating around for my patrols.

  • My friend flicked one of those guys in the face and got kicked in the nuts!

  • that floor must be squeeky clean!

  • think about the amount of times they have slipped! - I bet they put butter along the queen puts grease all along the floor before every changing of the guard!

  • What i want to see is somone knee the queen's guard in the balls. or at leased fake him out?

  • yerh but if you did that im sure they would knock that person the fuk out with the end of there gun...

  • Oh ya, they will.

  • why don't you do it or haven't you got a passport ?

  • nope i get away with it no charges or 28 days

  • not really a big deal

    but still quite funny

  • lol cant think out much thier feet hurt doing that all day :p

  • they change every 2 hours still a long time though and u get paid 2 do nothing

  • yes... apart from having to guard royalty along side the police, and having to fight in areas of conflict, these guys get paid to do nothing....

  • >:( hey i mean the palace guards not the royal guards (they have a slightly different emblem)

  • the palace guards are royal guards. their all from the regiments of the household devision foot guards, unless another regiment if performing the guard duties. theyre also all fully battle ready soldiers aswell as being ceremonial soldiers.

  • ok but there arnt many combat situations any more

  • arnt many combat situations anymore!!?? have you been living under a rock for years?? afgaistan - the british forces are engaging in some of the most feirce firefights since ww2, and iraq same story there!

  • marching in perfect form for nine hours is quite tricky i would be on my arse a few times a day if it was me so thank god they put these people on duty instead

  • the thing is laplaptop in the old days they go to prison for like a week for messing up (that is wat i was told)

  • he is a human too!!! what is wrong if he slips up!!!

  • 'ok why dont the government make it easier on those soldiers and make those boots non-slipy ones?' Don't you think our Government has better things to spend money on than non slip studs i.e weapons, Armour, systems Its not a priority to be honest If you think about other things more desperatly needed

  • Bleh - No biggie. I've seen it happen a few times I've been around the Palace.

    Must've been quite embarassing though!

  • to you all people that's me you talking about

and thanks to those people who saying the good things about it. it were slippery day especially on that path.

  • what happend? you get 28 days then?

  • wow he slipped up... hes only human.

  • where he nearly sliped up there is a dran cover and he has metal suds on his boots if you but two and two together is bound to happen

  • have you ever tried walking in those boots??? they are slipy as hell, most lads slip and slide just trying to walk normal.

  • ok why dont the government make it easier on those soldiers and make those boots non-slipy ones?

  • Because the metal studs make a nice crunching sound on the drill square. Also it'd cost loads of money to exchange every ammo-boot in the army.

  • YOUR DRUNK!.

  • i would advise you watch the series "Guarding The Queen" it was on ITV and is on youtube now. it's a 3 part series showing the Grendier Guards in both lights, one ceremonial and the other in Afghanistan fighting the Taliban. Brilliant Series and the funerals of the Grenadiers killed in action was very moving.

  • Wow...that's a very respectable devotion to your country. Personally if I was good enough to be invited to that position, I wouldn't want it; it seems very repetitive and suspenseful and I would be afraid of slipping up.

  • 'spose it takes a special kind of person to do that kind of job. it takes dedication

  • It's the studs in the boots that do it. I slipped up on the cobbles of the tower of London...hurt my arse and got done by the Sgt of the Guard...Bar Steward!

  • lol

  • unlucky, we all have our off days

  • i was at the tower of london and i saw 2 guards walking off duty and one of them slipped and swore, hardly the thing for an on duty guard

  • But it really pisses u off when u slip up like that, i can fully understand it, however unprofessional it looks

  • k, lol. you in the raf or the usaf

  • Sgt in the ATC (Air Training Corps) so were associated with the RAF

  • oh, i got it

  • awww poor guy
