I've lived In old town all my life and I watched this and all I can do is laugh. The coast next to the torpedo factory is next to a abandoned warehouse and they're are lots of homeless now. Plus a few of those art galleries shut down and one is now a lingerie store right on king street. Not to mention S Washington which runs right down the middle of old town is always crowed with traffic. Not to mention the people are so unhelpful and mean. :( I hate it here
the olde town looks great. glad they got a new town crier, even for this show......used to have one that worked daily 30 years ago, they really did....they did a nice job with the apothecary shoppe. (used to have blue and white china bottles).....Enjoy the Evening.......
It's just ok to visit if you live in NOVA; however, If you live in another state or a different country...mmmmmm just try something different. I went to the National Harbor and pathetically they wanted to imitate Las Ramblas (Barcelona) but they simply failed big time.
I lived in alexandria for 12 years moved to Miami, FL for a year and missed it like crazy. Im back in VA now but living in Woodbridge (booooo). As soon as I am able to I will relocate back to good old Alexandria!! One of my favorite places is the harbor! Nothing like the calming sounds of the water with views of dc in the west and maryland to the east! MAN I MISS IT!
I havnt moved from Alexandria ever... I was even born in the Alexandria Hospital and 16 years later I still live there (though I do move a lot from house to house but never from the city)
@fuknipon yes but it is not so far that you cannot go downtown. esp. this time of year. even just to window shop. Enjoy the Evening. P.S. I miss the fact that it is so walkable.....
@Mbeebeelove it is a walkable city, it is very old but all fixed up. the ghost of history are there with George Washington and Robert E. Lee. we have more real colonial shoppes and buildings than anywhere else the shopkeepers know how to greet you and what sells well. The fish is great.....and we have street performers. Enjoy the Evening.
