Simply because you can find nothing to like about the keyboard part in the song does not mean those who like it are simply licking Radiohead's musical nuts. That is a logical fallacy called a false dilemma. The parts are played on Ondes Martonet, an early electronic instrument, and the part is on the album version as well, albeit quieter. Johnny Greenwood said he composed those and the orchestral parts to sound like Penderecki, whose classical compositions I happen to enjoy.

The continuous keyboard "whining" is believed to representative of Tinnitus which Thom Yorke suffers from. It's a condition (often a symptom of something else) where one has a perceived ringing or buzzing (or other annoying, irritating and sometimes painful sound) in their ears when there is no actual outside noise. I suffered with it as a child. Having everything around you drowned out by a constant noise that only you can hear kind of makes you feel trapped and alone
