  • Problem is today the mainstream stuff is pretty abysmal. That said there are some gems out in indie land. If you like this check out VNV Nation - Empires is a brilliant album. Ok its not quite the same genre but very good modern electronica and there is plenty more out there just if you know where to look. I used to subscribe to sideline magazine and that had some great bands highlighted in there that you'd never hear of otherwise.

  • @GTtiOC I've found a few songs of course but they just don't do as much for me like the old stuff does there is just something better about those years of music making.. Out of an entire decade you shouldn't stop finding good music all that happens when I go 50s-90s it just never ends, nothing but beautiful sounds one after the other I don't even need to search.. People will turn away from something that mostly has crap just like a store

  • cant find this version on cd. help...(only LP)

  • Gotta love this music

  • got here from jimmy carlin color theory

  • jimmy carlin...

  • Their best.

  • I have always preferred this song so much more than I Ran.

  • Ok, someone help? I remember as a kid in the 80's there was an advert on Tv for a Lager...think it was McEwans?? it was like a setting from Mad Max and they rolled a huge metal ball at the screens you were watching it on? (that typical 80's thing that had 50 tv's showing one picture) anyway, was this song the music from that ad?

  • @TheCobraUK The track you might be looking for is Hipsway - Tinder (according to Google).

  • @Jamie839 Many thanks for that but i checked and that was another advert they did? Im just curious thats all unless I have imagined it all? lol

  • @TheCobraUK The excellent tune you are looking for is "You've Got the Power" by WIN :)

  • @graemerat1972 Yes, thats the one lol I was thinking I imagined it all...many thanks

  • @Gip68 No you're speaking from a spoiled time.. It was so much better to be a teen in the 80s even I know that being a teen in the 90s which was probobly a bit better than today kids are the worst they have ever been by fact.. People were A LOT nicer back in the 70s 80s

  • @weirdscience85 totally agree with you.. 80s were the best, 90s not so bad, and 00s and on the worst.. so glad i am not a teen now

  • @YaxKukMo1426

Yip, the beat on this is a complete plot, like alot of recent music and ... most popular music. 4/4 time.

I guess the thing about early '80s music is that lots of odd stuff became popular. Today it has to be pre-pack.

Internet should promote more variety, except experiments by record producers have been destroyed by free download.

  • will never ever get music like the 80s era again,,,

  • One of the best it was all about then and we loved it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I was born in 1982, I love the 80's music it has so much of great volume to it, the music that they have out 2day it's not like it was years ago. The 80's was fun I wish it came back around again!!!

  • Jimmy Carlin

  • simon cowell sod of with your x factor shit. this is real music long live the 80s

  • Honestly, this tune is MUCH better than I Ran....

  • I have it on vinyl! Where has the time gone ;-)

  • @GerrySchouten We all ask that Gerry. I certainly ask where have the last THREE DECADES gone almost constantly???????????????

  • @GerrySchouten I have it on vinyl too - autographed!

  • great song, glad they have an extended version

  • Today was the first time I heard this in over 25 years. Brings back memories of the summer of 83' for me.

  • Jimmy Carlin brought me here ;)

  • I first heard this tune in Tesco's carpark yesterday. Love it !!!

  • I'm a 26 year old man and I love 80's music it means nothing and makes me feel no different things exactly like the music from now. I was born in the 80's and wish i was born in the now

  • C'est toute ma jeunesse!!!!

  • WoW!! I remember playing this in my 78 Trans Am!(yes the "Bandit" Car) The Memories!! Thanks For Posting!!

  • 7 people had a flock of seagulls shit on there heads

  • @garyboylec

    LOL!!.

  • 7 people WISHING they hadn't click on this!!!!

  • Plenty of good music out there but it won't appear in your average record shop.

Check out VNV Nation, Ayria, Angels and Agony.

I tend to listen to NIN, Combichrist, Scandy stuff like that and they kick out some good tunes that remind me of this kind of stuff.

  • This song is a great example of the many brilliant tunes that were made in the 80's.

  • very like this song.

  • Todays music isn't shit compared to what we had in 70s,80s,even fucking 90s if i should add. I say if anything... we should go all out 80s again.

  • should i add anything? :-P

  • Another fine product from the city of Liverpool.

Ruled music in the 60s with the beatles, had top bandsin the 80s such as these and frankie goes to hollywood

  • more than any other song ever, this makes me feel euphoric, like it's running straight through my blood. i've never heard a song that can make me want to close my eyes and just let it flow through the empty space like this one does, or remind me so much of clear blue running water

  • Great, very 80's and brings me back some sweet memories (with a laugh and a tear).

  • This song is exactly why I Miss the 80's so much.

  • I had forgotten how good this music was until I heard it in a recent movie.

  • IN SOVIET RUSSIA PHOTOGRAPH WISHES IT HAD YOU!!

  • Guy should have tried facebook

  • *there

  • What a great version of this classic tune. Flock of seaguls where huge here in the 80s, must admit never heard of daft punk? I thought the spice girls rules the 90s in terms of popularity?

  • @missjacko1 true spice girls were populer but you should here daft punk thre techno songs are amazing and if you want you should listen to interstella 5555 by them as well.

  • I'm a 14 year old girl and love 80's music, it means something and makes you feel different things, unlike the music from now. I really wish I was a teen in the 80's instead of now.

  • @MyMissPolly I guess it's like when my parents used to tell me that the 80s isn't a patch on the 60s & I wished I was a kid in the 60s... although I do agree with your views on the 2010s... the world is slowly sleepwalking into the abyss

  • @andeegreen In that case its about "whats better than the other" which can ruin any music but music isn't a competition this isn't sports.. like "my time is better neh neh" But I just think all 50s-90s was real music no matter how boring it was those people had real individual talent they didn't all sounds too much alike... It was all better than any of todays crap, the 2000s is truely a shit decade(for people too).. I feel sorry for teens who only listen to new music

  • @weirdscience85 Couldn't agree more - about the music, but especially the people!!! The hoards of unruly wannabe gangsters out there getting away with ridiculous behaviour and showing little or no respect to anyone they come across are themselves too wrapped up in cotton wool. Send them to do work experience (as a teaboy even) in an active warzone! Send them penniless to one of the poorest countries and tell them to make their own way back! Oh, I feel a rant coming on, so I'll stop there.

  • @andeegreen ps- I love the 70s - quite a lot of people said it was rubbish, but I reckon a lot of great things happened then :-)

  • @MyMissPolly same but am 17 :P

  • @MyMissPolly Yes Miss Polly the music (well some of it) was better, it,s great that you like this stuff. I like some of todays music but it seems so artificial now.

  • @MyMissPolly

I was born in 1968 so was a teen in the 80's.Great time for music.Unlike now which seems to be mainly cover versions of old songs or rappers rehashing old songs while talking bollocks over them.

  • @galenkia Born in '68 too. This is the first thing I ever learned ,3 notes on a Casio keyboard. £19.99 out the catalogue Xmas 82.

  • @MyMissPolly Well, I am from '96 and as my nick I use a"86"instead.

    You're not the only one.

  • @MyMissPolly You are a bright and sensitive young lady. I was 8 years old when this song came out. You are right, I wouldn't trade growing up in the 80's with any other decade! It was a time of wonder and new styles of music, and new technology was something so revolutionary and amazing!

  • @MyMissPolly well said. i was around 15 when this came out. it was the best of times!~

  • @MyMissPolly I'm very happy to read this about 80's music. i'm 46 and I'm tryng to listen to, the few, good music from this period of emptyness. Love 80's music and I'm tryng to make my 2 daughters choose which music listen to. I've a lot of records and cd and dvd, and I like they can find their own opinion about the good and the bed music. By, Love and peace

  • This is a great song and a great band

  • I was born in 1986 & this is still my favorite song

  • awesome 80's one of my favs and saw them many times in Asbury Park NJ love Flock of Seagulls!

  • @scootin98 yea great edit

  • back in '84 when i was a senior in high school, i used to go out in the back yard of our house and get super high and listen to this. i miss those days of feeling free and doing anything i wanted to do and getting away with it. my parents used to go bowling and won a gift of a bowling ball filled with jack daniels. i used to drink it all the time and replace it with dr pepper. ah the good ol days of being a deliquent

  • @bigdsears That sounds familiar I still do all of that at 26 years old with all my 80s music.. I don't see why you still don't... You must have bad children then.. it was probobly a lot better doing it in '84 tho

  • I would'nd spend my life just wishing!!!!...Epic New Wave track...love this band!

  • @scootin98 Yes!! :D

  • Sweet set!

  • My roller skates had flaming wheels skating to this!!!! YEAH BABY!!!! Met my hubby on those wheels too! Haha!

  • the key boards at the end start to get cool and glue me....

  • love this track

  • 7 people already had a photograph

  • Pure Gold!....

  • i have fond memories of the 80s but come on they werent that perfect. we had thatcher for a start! the miners strikes, 3,000,000 people on the dole, the toxteth and brixton riots, the troubles/ira. it wasnt all great believe me! having said that, i`d go back in a shot, if only to wear the blue eyeliner and mascara again and a rah rah skirt lol!!!

oh and the current flock of seagulls are`nt even a flock. how can you have a flock of seagulls without paul reynolds????

  • Like if Jimmy Carlins color theory brought you here :)

  • This is superb. British music is still the best!

  • This is superb

  • In the eightie's they were producing music for live....now the produce something you can listen too for a short term of time and after that noone remebers them anymore.

  • This song belongs in a great movie

  • be careful what you wish for

  • this song is criminally underrated!

  • My Norwegian grand parents wouldn't let me listen to this music when I visited them, man were they old.

  • ♥♥♥♥♥

  • I love this song. I still have the 45 of it with this exact cover!

  • I have to agree with @yesh3. Enough said... LONG LIVE THE 80's! ! ! ! !

The 2000's shoud be skipped and go down in as an accident in history.

  • Had this version so long ago on tape, lost it, found it and wore it out!

I am so happy to be able to hear it again.

Eighties music in my mind is always the best.

    Thanks for posting

  • Saw this band on Guam back in 84 in a club. I think the gig was added, becuase they where on there way to Australia and stopped in Guam for some reason. And no one scheduled Guam on their tour who where playing arenas. The place was packed beyond capacity so I had to order enough LI ice teas for the whole concert all at the same time. Even though most of us military types where into hard rock. We where grateful someone took the time to play at are little outpost in the ocean.

  • @SuperBigblue19 Crazy story but so cool.

  • magnificent 80's!!!!

  • Yeah! I love a flock of seagulls and Jimmy carlin

  • Jimmy Carlin.

  • Ah the 80's....bring them back. Those were the days when the phrase "sticks and stones will break my bones but names will never hurt me" existed. Now everyone is a cry-baby victim of easily hurt feelings. When did people become so pathetically lame?

  • Nice version of a great song by a great band .

  • Brings back memories of the early 80's happy days oh to be back there again knowing what I know now

  • 100% die hard relaxing on this song

  • @SuperRawwrrr agree the 80's was an excellent decade for music only the 60's could better it and who is Justin whatever his name is !!

  • @hungryherbie, 60's, 70's and 80's were the best times for music. In the 1990's something began to break down.

  • @tomaszkajor Yes you are 100% correct nothing much happened of interest after the 80's cheers mate

  • @tomaszkajor Its called rap.

  • @tomaszkajor There is some good music out today

  • @ladybab, of course, but you know what suprises me ? That I'm bored listening to today's music after a couple of weeks but I always like to go back to listen to the music from the 1960's or 70's

  • @tomaszkajor yeah but daft punk RULED the 90's

  • @evo2341 Did they now? :) I'm a big Daft Punk fan, but to say that they RULED the 90s is quite a bold statement, mate!

  • @D0ST03VSKY i love daft punk as much as you and i think we are both right

  • @D0ST03VSKY quite right there mate as daft punk wur pish

  • @tomaszkajor wrong, ur just not a fan, therees plenty of good music but u wouldnt know

  • @chessinfantry, I know there is but today's music gets me bored after a few days of listening. Music from the 60 or 70's- never. It never gets me bored.

  • @tomaszkajor Why don't you listening to M83, Phoenix, Twin Shadow etc??

  • @tomaszkajor Damned straight. Total rubbish for the past 20+ years. No wonder sales are shit, even taking the internet into account.

  • jimmy carlin!

  • Hey, dweebs, stop moaning about how music has got worse and how the '80s were so bad. They're both equally good/bad, you're just kidding yourselves or not making the effort to find the good stuff.

  • @tpmableful fair comment. but if you not like this music.. then fuck off and not listen!!!! let us who do like it .. enjoy it for what it is.... good music..

  • Ive always like this wave of music. It help me think of anythings

  • @SuperRawwrrr We have a lot of great music today! Better than the 2000s, anyway. Justin Bieber type stuff is awful, though, but that's only popular in the States and with YOUNG kids. Like, some great music in the way of The script, Tinie Tempah, Deadmau5. Ehm, '80s were AMAZING though. I wasn't even alive then, yet still addicted to Gary Numen and DePeche Mode....

  • They got their name from a stranglers song called toiler on the sea. They nearly backed Hugh Cornwell on American solo tour but could not get visa on time.

  • The 80's gave us some of the best music the world will ever have.Music as we know it ended in 1989.

  • @aedificamus - I agree with you about the best music ever in the 80s (I was born in the 80s). However I feel music started to die around 1995 then come 2000-2001 it was truly dead and buried.

  • Thank you Jimmy carlin

  • Loved the 80's!

Tracks like this are still played 30's years later and enjoyed by young people unlike todays music which is forgotten in minutes...

  • this works!!!!

  • @SuperRawwrrr also look up after the fire-der kommisar, thomas dolby-blinded me with science, psychedelic furs-love my way, the smiths-how soon is now, new order-blue monday; true faith and your silent face. if you love the 80's like i think you do, then no more gaga or beiber, i am handing you on a platter just a smidge of the best. give me your email address and i will share with you what my era was like. in high school we were 'NEW WAVE', rolled up pants, makeup, colored hair,

  • @SuperRawwrrr Just by that comment I am willing to send you via send space the best of the 80's as I have all of it and you need to catch up on what so exciting, what a time it was..... all fresh and new sound especially in 1982 onward. check these out: Ultravox-reap the wild wind, tears for fears-pale shelter, talk talk-living in another world and also its my life, roxy music-take a chance on me; more thsn this; same old scene, then Bryan ferry-dont stop the dance, thompson twins-doctor doctor

  • @yesh3- your so fucking right, I'LL DO ALMOST ANYTHING TO BACK TO THE 80'S This world we live in now, suck's. What happen to the golden day's of MTV.

  • jimmy joesph carlin<3

  • JImmy carlin

  • yeah man 82 ruled!!

  • it's not the way you look

it's not the way that you smile

    although there's something to them

I feel this way for so long

  • pretty cool what you say

  • Ip I hab de potograf de juu, I no spend de glife jus gwishin! hahaha. I glub dis shit meng

  • Got the 12"single as soon as it came out....they wern't that popular at the time....made it big in the USA tho.....still sounds bloody brilliant!!

  • Women were better in the Eighties! They made for better photographs - now toothpicks, manly women, and carpenter's dreams seemingly get hailed as attractive??? But beyond the looks I feel women of today are so full of lies. Could it be the piss poor music of today that has brought this about? Could it be that mankind took a wrong turn and didn't carry on what the Eighties brought? The Eighties was all about authentic originality - nowadays many live on some abstruse calling. I live Eighties!!!

  • @DetroitLove4U

So right My Friend, Especially about Today's Women,They are basically skeleton,s with skin graph!

  • @DetroitLove4U : Hail!

  • best new wage band

  • If I had a photograph of you...I wouldn't spend my life just wishing!

    Send a photograph 82! LOL!

  • @n8tureboy ~ Your wish is my command!! ; )

  • classic !!!!!!!!!

  • yaaa born in the 50s oooyaaa we had some good stuff :)

  • Brings back memories..... 80's music is forever with me. My iPod is purely 80's music only. All of them are remixes and 12" versions. They are the "hard to find" versions,,,.... the "For DJ's use only". Go 80's.......

  • jimmy carlin brings the 80's back the skater way

  • Man..... this is really a brilliant song. I LOVE IT!!!!!

  • songs like this make me wish i lived in the 80's

  • wow I love this song something about it... quite lovely

  • Anyone who wishes they were a teen in the 80s think again! No jobs out there, minimum wage was about $3.50- 4, no computers in our homes- & all the things that go with that... like youtube-, no cell phones, we went into the gas station to pay for gas, parents insurance paid to put the kids in "rehab'" etc. etc. etc. I was a teen in the 80s & I can attest, as anyone else who was there, that the 80s were a great time for music-- & thats IT!!! Thanks for the post! Good music~~~

  • @nsideimscreaming there are no jobs now either, and it doesn't matter that minimum wage was $3.50 then because there is inflation now so things were a lot cheaper back then

  • @nsideimscreaming No jobs out there NOW!!!!. True that we have more technology today, but if you never had the technology, you dont miss it. Perhaps there is some technological improvement that will be discovered in 2025, that we will think we could never do without, but we are doing without it today. BTW there were cell phones in the 1980s, but they were the size of a brick and cost 50 cents per call

  • @nsideimscreaming

I have to disagree my friend. The 80's were superior in every way that I can think of. I was a teen then and teens in general where happier because they actually held conversations with each other. No need to text because we actually physically talked!

Didn't need the internet because we played outside and got fresh air and sunshine! Remember those things?

Give me the 80's and I'm happy.

  • @n8tureboy brilliant comment mate. Now that i think of it i never had a mobile phone bak in the 80's and i got along just fine...

  • @bhoyjack

Thank you kind sir! Fine indeed.

  • This is a great band but the 80's sucked unless you had money, or if you liked hearing duran duran every five minutes.

  • @yesh3 ---bullshit, yesh. My family didn't have shit, but the music of the 80s kept me alive and semi-sane. And Top 40 played everything then...Hall & Oates, Blondie, MJ, Madonna, Bon Jovi, The Cars, Prince, GnR, Def Leppard, the list goes on. Its the 2000s that suck, bro. You need money today to keep your McMansion heated and your SUV. Also no Amber alerts, no terror threat levels, no Sex Offender Lists, no Octomoms, no Lilos, no Farcebook, no texting, no political correctness. Fuck the 2000s.

  • @DestroyerofSouls666 amen i am glad someone thinks like me
