  • Martin where did you get that hook that's a really cool design

  • It is a breath of fresh air to see a responsible snake handler on youtube. Thank you.

  • Thanks

  • Very nice clip! Educational!

  • steel balls!

  • this guy is obviously a pro but it seemed kinda stupid to be hitting the newspaper down like that when you can't see the f'n snake! he did it twice in the barrel. big balls on that dude.

  • Excellent, very safe handling. Great video. Two thumbs up!!

  • Does she have a name?

  • Black Mamba venom is a very potent neurotoxin that can result in life threatening symptoms within minutes. The body absorbs it very quickly. Without medical treatment, a bite has a very high chance of proving fatal.

  • hi is black mamba venom so dangerous as it'd be described on magazines?

  • @Skull24Crusher Its venom is a toxin called Dendrotoxin that is fast acting and is a pre-synaptic neurotoxin its venom also contains cardiotoxins. It used to have a %100 mortality rate :( but now its just %75 which is still pretty high but yes its venom has been known to kill in minutes. One british guy I can't remember his name was bite out in the bush by a juvie Black Mamba and almost instantly went into a coma. And the bite was less then 5 minutes before :P

  • a pro.

  • Thanks... I enjoyed your video...

  • What do you mean my story?

If it keeps swinging at you I can tell you now that you move your feet alot while working with the animal as opposed to trying to stand still. When the snake is all over the place, I am sure you are too :) Try slowing your movements down, and it will calm down.

  • Altough I like your video :)

But I'm very curious about your story.

It could be a indidual character.

    greets,

    Torben

  • Hey, Martin

How long is this WC mamba already in captivity ?

Its very easy tempered when being handled.

Yesterday I bought a black mamba male about the 6,5 feet, fresh wild caught.

Its so agressive and fast that that focusing on not being bitten is priority number one. It swings agile trying to bite at me all the time. I thought that leaving the animal alone in a tempex box for a night with a temperature around de 20 degrees it would have slow the snake down. No way, it flee's out of the box.

  • Not at all. Can't be good for them to do that

  • Do you cool them a bit before handling to give a bit of an extra edge?

  • There have to be more myths about this snake than any other. Most of it complete nonsense.

  • is that a REAL black mamba?i say bullshit that snake must have been drugged or somethin. WHY THE FUCK is IT SO CALM?!? i saw in animal planet that thing has a VERY BAD temper and chases the shit out of you. If they know you are threatning them they wont stop. Pulling that thing out of the cage should have triggerd it.

AND WHY THE FUCK KEEP THEM AS PETS!?!?

  • uhm firstly it wasn't a pet.

Secondly, Animal Planet does "extreme" shit for ratings. Black Mambas are shy and retiring by nature.

  • @simonsex Yes, that is the problem with Animal Planet and all those TV shows, just showing the negative and the worst. I have so many times that ''amatures'' (people that knows nothing about snakes) tell me how a certain snake is like and what family it belongs to etc etc. ''Because I saw it on Animal Planet''... Thinking I know nothing.. OMG, I personally dont watch programs like that, because its allways a load of bulls*%t!

  • Excellent video Martin, I learned so much. You're methods of handling are ace!

  • thank you Martin I've learned so much from this video even though I probably never work with one of these, but it has given me a lot of insight into the elapid behaviour... how much movement would these guys tolerate before they go on the defensive/ ... just thinking about the gape from the other vid... lol

  • Glad I could help.

It depends on individual to individual really. The one thing that stands as rule of thumb: If it starts gaping, you should stop moving.

  • Once they are on the defensive they remain dedicated. They strike repeatedly until the threat stops moving. So a defensive bite is very serious. Also, due to the size of the snake, bites are often on the face or chest area, making first aid really difficult.

  • Excellent vid Martin,very informative.

Are they more likely to give you a big dose if they are fleeing or attacking?

  • Either or, it will still be a large dose. But attacking will be to make you stop. So an attacking bite will have more venom.

  • No, not yet. I plan on not letting it ever happen. It will certainly be a very serious bite.

Timespan depends on where the snake bit you, what it was doing when it bit you (i.e. fleeing or attacking), how big it is etc.

Antivenom injection is the province of doctors :)

  • very nice video! did a black mamba ever bite you ? in that case you have just a very few minutes to inject yourself an antivenom ?? how does that work ?

  • Yeah it was high time :)

  • Very nice, Martin. Glad to see you put some new footage up!

  • excellent video martin.

  • They always fun to play with :)

    Thanks mate

  • Tubed on one try huh? LMAO.....

Great video my friend. I will have to play with some wild ones when I am over there. Oh and catch some boomers to play with too.................
