In an effort to prevent garage door break-ins you just told the burglars how to do it. And the inner door as a security device, unless you put in the effort to make it so with a stronger door or heavier locks, is a screen door in comparison to outer doors.
Another little note: Your garage door is basically a tin can. If you take a knife you can literally stab through the door itself and cut it open like a tin can to gain entry.
That emergency release cord is nothing but trouble. I actually saw one of those wrap around a luggage rack on an SUV and the owner didn't realize it till she backed out of her garage and took the opener and door with her.
this is a real big help. most people dont lock the door that connects their house to their garage---if someone gets in the garage, they also got into your house.
@mikebius Yeah, a motion sensor in your garage is another good idea. People get into your garage and then have all the tools and all the time they need out of sight to get into your house....
A good tip in case Brian Dennehy tries to break into my garage.

Great crime depiction. The only inaccuracy that I noticed is that the burglar was not black.

@mrbigjohn1956 Yeah, many years ago he was a bouncer at a very trendy club. He's funny and personable, but he also knows how to handle himself!
