  • OK. I know some better performances of the song, but I THANK YOU VERY MUCH for the lyrics and translation of initial part. I had it formerly (both lyrics and translation), but I don´t know how I lost or kept it "somewhere". Well, I became old, lol... I heard this song for the 1st time, you know, some 35 years ago!!! I have it in vinil disc by Makeba and heard it now here by Fadhili. THANKS TO YOU ALL FOR SOME HELP!

  • I knew one of these guys years ago in Mombasa. Very pretty version of a beautiful song.

  • most lovely n musiki taratibu

  • Could someone be so kind and translate it? I would really appreciate it.

    greetings from south Europe

  • Malaika nakupenda malakika.x2

    (Angel i love you angel)

    Nami nifanyeje,kijana mwenzio,

    (what do i do,your youth

    Nashindwa na mali sina wee

    ( i can't and i dont have wealth)

    Ningekuoa malaika

(i would have married you angel)

  • @derisa71 good job

  • @tribadorimtb the gist of the song is a poor guy in love with a beautiful girl but cannot afford the customery bride price. Nakupenda Malaika means I love you Angel in Swahili. That's how my friend in Mombasa explained it.

  • ok song

  • great song

  • This is a very smooth and gentle interpretation, which I think superbly captures the agony of the protagonist's unfulfilled love in the song. Well done Safari Sound Band

  • Nakupenda Malaika was written by Kenyan musician Fadhili Williams.Miriam Makeba only did a version of it , result of her frequent trips to East Africa .Still it is a beautiful song.

  • The song malaika was NOT written by Fadhili Williams from Kenya, go to my channel and listen to Makeba at the beginning of the song and read what i wrote about it.

  • nice one

  • Thanks for this song I wonder if any you have the song I YEA AFRICA IT WAS OUT IN 1972 in Kenya as i was there. thanks

  • It is swahili from East Africa.

  • is this song orginally kenyan or southafrican?

  • The original is by Fadhili Williams of Kenya. It is listed on youtube as:

    Fadhili William - Malaika

  • No, the original singer is Miriam Makeba from South Africa.

  • I beg to differ. It is Fadhili Williams from Kenya. It is a swahili song. Makeba's version does not contain the whole composition, just sound bites..mostly because she does not speak Kiswahili. I respect that she was a great performer though.

  • woooow!!!malaika nakupenda..malaika..malaika nakupenda nami ni fanyeje kijana mwenzio nashindwa na mali sina wee..so sweet..pure swing.blessing am lonely man
