  • looks great in red ;)

  • Good vibe, good play.

  • the old models are as fine as the new ones, they just need adjustment,- and then you hear sound, not keys knocking on wood -- this one looks better than it sounds, but it can be fixed,- look for "miracle mod" on you tube and google!!

  • I just got a Rhodes mk1. I didn't know about the # on the top that tells you the week and year. That was an interesting fact.

  • don't the keys make a lot of noise?

  • Yes you right ! But the mic is also very sensitive . But it dosn't bother you when you start hitting the keys!

  • like the songs you played and keyboard of course, i have a roads too

  • @jamesdancer73

You have one and you spell it as "roads"?

  • Do you replaced the preamp for one of those custom made such as the custom clarifyer? it sounds great congrats...!!

  • Thank you ! No the preamp is the original grom 1971-76 era and the amp you hear is a 30W - 100$ worth for bass guitar ! The sound you listen it comes from the heart of this 1974 Rhodes and although it need some adjustments there no comparison to any digital thing,

  • I love the red top!!!

  • @ChucklesKeys: Yea, I wonder if the harp cover was recovered with new tolex or painted red with spray paint.

  • Hi ! The top lid was painted red in a car paint garaze !

  • @RHODESLOO: It looks beautiful. Is that the standard suggested way to refurbish a scratched harp lid: spray paint it with automotive paint? Would the use of spray cans work with similar results?

  • @aarfeld Take off the top lid of your rhodes , find a color you like and go to a car paint garaze and put the lid in the baker! No joke!

  • @RHODESLOO: Ah, so that's how it's done. I was wondering how some folks get their harp covers looking so shiny new again. Great tip! Thanks for the advice.

  • @RHODESLOO do you use regular spraypaint or car paint?

  • @mrthomaskt Hi! I use car paint so i took it to the car's carage paint to get it done like you do when you get your car's a new color.

  • ...so jealous! (:

  • We got one of these, its in the basement right now I'd like to get it out and play it but fuck its soooooo heavy! lol

  • I actually have it in my room now I love it, Mark I seventy-three.

  • Thanks man! I adore both of them but Mark I gives me thrills everytime i ride it !

  • Gorgeous and ethereal. Its good to see its in such good shape for its age with the vibrato effect still working well. Killer Rhodes!

  • hey rhodesloo nice playing cau tell me few artists that play the rhodes especially with the effects please...

  • Thanks although i am not a good player , i just love the Rhodes.

Herbie uses a lot of effects in the 1970-75 period.I recommend you to visit the FenderRhodes supersite and the Neverenoughrhodes blogspot.Geia hara.

  • How long does it take to learn how to play piano or fender rhodes? I have a new obsession! I want one!!

    how expensive are these rhodes?

  • Hi.Check the e-bay Europe sites for the price .I don't know how long it takes to learn piano but i know that you can enjoy it from the first touch !

  • Hi,

I saw the tonebars of the lower end notes are missing. Why is this?

    Nice sound!

  • Hi jazzman251,

This happens only in 88 keys models not on the 73's .I think without the tonebars in these notes provide more lower bass frequencies.Thanks.

  • Very nice...

The thing that always holds me back from buying a Rhodes when I see one, is that there's a lot of play in the keys. The keys are very noisy.

You'd have to crank up your amp to notice the clicking of the keys less.

  • Thanks. The keys are more noisy in the old models like this one and less in the later models. But dont forget that you have to deal with a real acoustic electric instrument and not a synth .

And believe me: you touch the keys ,you hit them . and then you get a soul out of it!Thats Rhodes !

  • just wonderful!

  • Love the look and sound of your Rhodes. Where did you get the RED top??? Did you paint it?

I have an old 73 key and use it all the time.

  • Thanks for your nice comment.

Actually i took the red top of this Rhodes and went to a car paint garage .

They a;so gave a nice finish all over with polish spray.

Its good to know that you like all the vintage keyboards and still use them.

As you can see they really have soul within !

  • This is Peterson preamp that was made for suitcase and stage models ( to support satelite speakers ).It has Vol/Tone/Vibrato and it is an absolutely "must" if you are lucky to find one.

  • Hi RHODESLOO, i'm certainly a little confuse, i can see than your fender rhodes 74 MKI have more buttons in the front panel than a normal fender rhodes stage. like vibrato, and other things, the point is than or that is a suitcase version (that will explain) or custom version of the stage piano you send to made because the original not came with all that buttons, came only with 2 (stage piano), and 3 (suitcase version) (always talking between the first generation of MKI made by fender 69´to 75').

  • Hi Volvoxburger ,

First of all thank you for your nice comment.

It is really an honor to receive it from you 'cause i know you long time in youtube and man : you are the one!.

Yes,you right the one channel is off , a friend of mine did it when he restore the pre-amp in life after 30 years!

Then he told me that the one channel seemed to be off.

  • Hey Loucas, that tremolo sounded like one channel was turned off. Are you sending both channels to an amp?

    Sharp looking custom finish though.
