Thanks for posting this video. Saw PB a couple of years ago. Tom Lavin was the only original member left. They still sound great (Lavin is awesome) but its hard to duplicate the original PB dynamics. Just look at the talent! Makes a guy want to go back in time and appreciate the band just a bit more...
Though Gord Bertram played baritone on the original recording of this, I 'm pretty sure that's not him in this video. The profile resembles Bill Runge, who played a lot of baritone around Vancouver and even played bass with TPBB at one point. CKUA used to have a program back in the mid to late eighties, Black Tie and Blues (???). TPBB appeared on that show a number of times, I'm sure.
Man some great music used to come out of Vancouver. - Payolas, Doug and the Slugs, Jim Byrnes, Randy Bachman, John Baldry, Brian Adams, Barney Bentall, Chilliwack, even Loverboy and Trouper i suppose. who did I miss?
As for (c)rap, it's strictly the haven for no-talent thugs, pimps and ex-drug dealers who are laughing all the way to the bank at stupid white kids making them rich... and is NOT taken seriously when discussing great musicians, singers and songwriters.
So rap is the answer to this? End of the day this will live forever. Saw him at the World Cup Downhill in Panorama 1984, Peter Muller Won, I got laid and had a ball. Anyone appreciate the "good old days"?
Worked with Tom Lavin years back on a film called "Whale Music"...the casting session for the parts of Maurie Chaykins ex band mates was a Whos Who of Canadian music. Randy Bachman gave the crew BTO ball caps...Jim Byrnes was there too...Tom was real funny and such a nice guy....love this band to this day.
