  • @christophbraunmuller ... Diane Lane? Really? Ha ha hah hahah ahha! I take that as a compliment, thank-you. I glad you like the sprout vid. : )

  • I loved this video. I started growing my own sprouts this weeks,it is very healthy and rewarding.you helped out alot thank you.

  • @lilamin12 Thats wonderful that you are growing your own sprouts now! Yea!!!

  • this is just awesome Carleen... thanks so much for doing this. I know it has been a while since you have but I still appreciate it now!

  • Pantyhoses also work good.. That's what I'm using :D

  • Question. Some people say eat them sooner to get more nutrient value and some people say you can eat them when they are more mature. Do you loose nutrients as they mature or photosynthesize too much?

btw ... thanks for doing a great video :-)

  • Hmmm... I think it depends on the type of seed/bean/nut you are sprouting. I personally would go by taste. In general though, I prefer my small seed sprouts to have some green as I feel the chlorophyll is incredibly nutritious and they taste best to me. Whereas some grains do not taste good too young or too "old" ... I would trust your intuition regarding the nutrient value and its appropriateness for you body. Also refer to the sprout experts I linked to in the more info section. : )

  • This was such a great video!!! Thank you!! I'm going to try this once my MC is over!

  • Thanks... hey, shouldnt you be in bed?

  • Great video, thank you! I have some seeds I am going to go and start rinsing right now... :) I'll start with a quart, yummy! :)

  • What about the temperature in the room? does it have big influence for sprouts to grow? in place I live its quite chilly and its winter now...there is no much sunlight during the day...cloudy and foggy most of the time...

And one last question, the sprouts I have they are organic, I bought them two months ago and on the bag it says that the seeds will expire in one month...do they expire so quickly?

  • In a really cold climate I suggest growing the sprouts in a room of the house that is the warmest. Typically its too warm and people do not rinse the sprouts as often as they should while the sprouts are growing, then the sprouts mold - but it sounds like you will not have that problem. In the fridge, sprouts can still live but their growth may be slow. Regarding light: when the sprouts have tails just put them near the window if possible. The expiration date should be fine. Give it a try. : )

  • OK, thanks a lot :) I am looking after my alfalfa seeds as if its my first baby...I'll see what happens, and I have to hurry...I still have a whole bag and its expiring end of this month..

  • I am sure that even past the expiration date most of the seeds will still germinate... dont worry about it and have fun. Let me know how they turn out! : )

  • OK thanks, so far so god...I have little tails coming up..:) I guess my sprouts adore the climate in my room.. :)

  • oooh, thats GREAT! Yea, tails are a very very good sign.

    : )

  • OK thanks for your support :) I've been eating my sprouts plain today :) such a crispy delight :)

  • Masterfully done! Thanks for providing such a detailed video resource!

  • Thanks questionmarke for the positive feedback. : )

Nice music by the way - keep it up!

  • lentils are great for sprouting! You just want to make sure they are not "split" lentils... you want the whole seed/bean. When they are whole each side is slightly rounded, where as a split lentil is split in half and one side is rounded and the other is totally flat. Good luck and have fun! Yum.

  • Nice vid. I just soaked some lentils for the first time ever to try this. I'm not sure if they should be specific for sprouting or if any seeds or grains would work. I hope they do though.

  • Great instructional... did a good job!

  • That's what I like... cheap , easy and fun :)
