i think the Indian Govt is really smart by providing funds to ISRO then same funds to its poor and needy. Think abt it, the less money to fee the poor dying...hence more millions die each year...which is good thing and reduces population burden on country's resources.
Besides ISRO will soon commericially bring in revenue by launching commercial satellites for other countries for a fraction of NASAs price...So it snot like ISRO is totally dependent on Govt

India spends a handsome amount of money on its poor which could be many times over the cost of this moon mission. The challenge is the leakage in the welfare delivery system to the poor. There are different measures to stop it. Halting science programs is not one of them.

You have a point. But this is a long term investment. The repercussions of this is profound in many ways. Short term and immediate needs of the poor are being catered to as well. India will eventually climb out of the pit of despair.

ISRO mainly helps the poor villagers, chandrayaan is one of those rare projects only 15% of ISRO satellites are like this.
ISRO connects remote villages and offers weather reports.

India is big enough to have enough talent. The point is I am refuting you giving credit to vajpayee for everything India achieve in this decade. We have so many advantages now because of the NRIs. Due to that we got exposure. Our people opened companies in SIlicon Valley and it started outsourcing and IT business for India. NRIs played a big part in pushing nuclear deal for India. Our government is flush with forex because of NRIs. STFU.

I asked you about the Max-Planck Society, its a research society, which deals from natural sciences to Microsystems i.e, MEMS. unfortunately our fuckin meduia doesn't cover much about people like "sarabhai", "Kalam" etc. I havent seen one full fledged interview of Rakesh Sharma like we see on sachin or some movie star.

First nuclear test wasn't done by Vajpayee. By your logic, Manmohan should be credited for Chandrayan? These things go on irrespective of government. As far initiative goes, it was congress government for 40 years. Congress was promoting science when all other parties were opposing foreign investment and computerization. If you wanna give credit to someone for something it should the one who first initiated it, like our PM who initiated reforms.

It got scrapped by the Ministry of Defence, why nandi, lets talk about Arjun Tank, it is far far superior that the bloody T-90's, still the Defence lobby and the UPA government didnt let it come out, its a dead project now. Saikiran..you dumbass.. THe space research was started in Trivandrum, Kerala in a modest facility (scientists took rocket parts in bi-cycles and carts) even when we were a very poor country. It's the vision of Nehru to do that while others were claiming it was unnecessary to spend so much money on it. Same goes for IITs and other institutions in this country. All of this thing didn't happen in 5 years of BJP rule.

I come from a family of ISRO scintists, now shut up and enjoy the feeling of being on the moon.Until the chandrayan idea came up Indian ministry decided to stick only to satellite launches.Excitement is good but over excitement leads to such mistakes as you have done right now!!!

saikiran..dumbass.. You don't get the point. If IIT people go to US, it's not the fault of government. We were a young country and now we have more opportunities and facilities for research so more people are staying. And people who went to US are coming back. One of the main team leaders is IIT educated US return scientist. I forgot the name. The point is all these infrastucture and researched laid out for 50 years is bearing the fruit now. Not because of 5 years of BJP.

It is obvious that the current UPA government will not acknowledge this fact. but how about the press ! I clearly remember that time many of the media people ridiculed the very idea. BTW way few here who keep fighting over countries and all , I think its a narrow thought , with the advent of Internet, world has become flat , we are now all slowly becoming one global economy. Heavily dependent on each other , and heavily getting affected by each others states.( climate change , economic issues ) they all affect all of us.
