I think goku is a very good main character. They are both very deep in their own ways. Vegeta you have to remember is essentially a main character early in the series he was there as much until he showed up ever since he's been gradually much more involved and now he's more involved than goku a lot of the time

lol this scene is just another reason why I think the English funimation dub improved the Japanese one. When they are fighting there is actually a lot more noise, but in the Japanese version they seem so quiet as if they are not even really struggling or putting in a lot of effort and energy into what they are doing. Plus the music also sounds great.

Goku probably didn't go super saiyan 3 because like he said after, he couldn't properly control it. Also the amount of time he could hold it was short to begin with, with the majin seal saping even more energy with every injury. He probably was concerned with running out of energy.

He only had like an hour left after his fight with Buu.

I wouldn't necessarily say Vegeta is a better fighter, just that he is dirtier and possibly more tenacious. Goku probably has equal fighting skills, he just enjoys fighting more than actual killing. Goku fights for the challenge. Vegeta fights to destroy.

The two are evenly matched in their SSJ2 state, but I'm gonna give Vegeta the edge cause of one reason. That reason is it's been established that a dead body is more durable. So that means Goku would have spent more time having quality training, where as Vegeta would have limitations due to fatigue. On top of that, for Vegeta to go toe to toe with Goku here at least tells you that Vegeta might be stronger if Goku was fighting in his normal body or vice versa.

Vegeta has better fighting tactics (knowledge), while Goku has better technique. If you guys remember in their first battle, Goku won, only with the help of Krillen and Gohan. The second battle (this one), Vegeta won, only because he knocked out Goku from behind. Some may argue that Vegeta is a stronger SSJ 2 here but i think they are about equal. They still need to do their final battle, which was going to happen in GT but Goku left with the dragon.

Goku really is a prick, when he loses he's all like "I need more power nooooowwwww!!!! Give me your energy!!!!!!!" like in his fight against Frieza, and then he gets stronger somehow than his opponent, like when he turned SS for the first time and then he says "that all ya got? all that waiting and THIS is how you repay me", while Frieza was frying his ass less than 15 minutes before that. I really hate Goku. He thinks it's all about him and I understand Vegeta, Goku really looks down on him.

In jap dub he says we dont have much time lets end this quickly. The way Goku speaks to Frieza is totally different in Jap dub. But when your best friend is killed right before your eyes, and in your mind there is no way to bring him back anymore. His anger completely takes over.
