I KNEW and WORKED with a 1ST Division man (his NJ License Plate said " 1ST Div.") He was the KINDEST, GENTLEST man I ever practically met....but if you SCREWED him or PISSED HIM OFF you would find out VERY QUICKLY that Mr. Andy Prosper was a UNITED STATES MARINE who had served with distinction on Guadalcanal! ( God REST your SOUL, Andy, you were a TRUE GENTLEMAN!)

Interesting that the sequence 1:01-1:05 could be shown on network television in the supposedly "repressive" 1950s. I wonder if any of the Navy vets recognized themselves as naked recruits while they watched the show with their wives and kids? Blush! lol.

Every time I see a 1st Marine Division patch with the word "Guadalcanal" emblazoned on the number 1, I think of this rousing march...it still raises the hairs on my back! Semper Fi!
