The US cities are destroyed along with the AFE (American Federal Empire)...thus we (in the country) won. The European Union and China were also destroyed. Russia is now our largest trading partner and the Capitol of the US was moved to Omaha Nebraska
@crazyemodude1 More like the USA was destroyed by a tired Europe which then proceeded to conquer the world and put in place a global system of communism.
There is a civil war in the United States that starts in 2005. That conflict flares up and down for 10 years. In 2015, Russia launches a nuclear strike against the major cities in the United States (which is the "other side" of the civil war from my perspective), China and Europe. The United States counter attacks
Great presentation and honest, realistic views. No glossy slideshows and glossy sales bull. Open minded & forward thinking. Disagree with reliability of computers back in 70's though.
Hi Patrick, University students here! Are you trying to say Vodafone should start a bank on it's own or Vodafone and a bank merge together? Also why American Express? Why not HSBC or Barclays? What are the benefits of first mover advantages for mobile operators?
Nokia losing market share - now a big reality! What a lot of hot air! Might as well stick a finger in the wind...This guy is earning his wage talking as if he is in the future...what is going on with companies lsitening to this drivel!

I have an idea that Nokia (pronounced No-key ah) has never thought of yet. It is worth billions. It has to do with advertising revenue. No one in the world has thought of it except myself. Nokia can pay me for my brilliance.
"Future consumer choices will be shaped by emotion"??? What the hell is he talking about? Consumer choices have always been shaped by emotion, that's what propaganda does. And what's this shit about rioting because of Obama?? Gee thanks for the warning!! The arrogance of these psychopaths is incredible!!!! They don't even hide it anymore.
Uh right is that why Nokia layed off 300 hundred employees last year. Your company is bombing because of all the manufactuering overseas, there are more companies making phones then there are people starving in africa. And the election of Obama wasnt about emotion it was strategy placed by the goverment.
I think Nokia should integrate temperature sensors, and heart beat testing device for emergency response team. Another of My ideas! integrate glasses to nokia camera system so that people can have a more realistic experience, and if you want to go further with mi idea integrate the real time nokia cam. to the army "each member of a team can tune in one another and watch what another of the team is seeing.this would help save lifes etc.just my idea cheers
Whilst I understand that this is a "fictional" scenario, I think your commentary about the Apple Iphone contradicts your previous section about Convergence vs Divergence. If Nokia simply copies a successful technology, in this case the iPhone example, isn't that contradicting the Divergence mantra?
Thanks - well of course we are seeing both divergence and convergence. So good products get copied fast, but we need to constantly stretch beyond mere imitation which does brand image no good at all. Patrick Dixon
Yes it takes a little while to get one's head around this. I did similar scenario / set in 2015 in the EU Parliament (Internet Group) last week and it worked really well with them too.
Had my phone (Nokia) for two years and still don't know how to use all it's functions. Played with video functions but realy only used call and text functions.
Every phone manufacturer is facing same issues: unused functions, complexity when people need simplicity and failure to work with other systems reliably (business users especially)
Particularly interesting to me as I used to work in the mobile industry (as a team leader in the data support team for a rival company - around the time of the communicator), I always said that making it work simply (connectivity and sync with outlook) was THE most important goal - I often felt the institutional blindness to beat other manufacturers to new features was failing our customers who actually used the product!
Hmmm well they would be TOTALLY wrong! Could just as easily be "predicts that Palin becomes President within 3 years. Scenarios by definition are FICTIONAL tools, based on possible alternative future histories, designed to help decision-makers prepare. The Pentagon does the same with so-called war games - strategy testing. Scenarios are key parts of risk management for all corporations. eg What if the dollar were to devalue by 25% as a result of multiple events, or deflation were to strike.
Talking about emotions... Predicting the assassination of Obama is a bit edgy isn't it Patrick?
Maybe you could balance it up by Predicting in your next video McCain winning, having a stroke, Sarah Palin coming to power and Alaska getting nuked by the Russians in the 2010 Oil Wars, wiping out the worlds Polar Bear population.
Yes good point - actually it is best always to work on a series of alternative scenarios - this is only one of many and used to help people understand the value of trying to visualise future events to make them more "real" targets against which to measure your existing corporate strategy / test your planning. Both US presidential stories - Obama or McCain provide major geopolitical uncertainties. The real story in my scenario here was the power of SMS in new political movements in US / China.
and now nokia are being smashed all over the marketplace
