Loved her music when I was a baby (so Dad says) and still do (in 20s now). Her voice is one in a gazillion. The only voices nearly as gorgeous are that of Karen Carpenter and Julie London, even then their voices are not as sweet.
Too bad these singing styles are of an era gone by.

The poem - one of his best-known, from which the lyrics of this song came, entitled 虞美人(Beauty Yu), was composed during the years after the Song formally ended his reign in 975.

For your info.this song is a short poem written by an imprisoned emperor Li Hou Chu. It was this poem written in blood that was found on the wall of the prison cell that lead to his instant death. That's why this song is sung so sadly and I used to teach this in chinese music classes for the pupils will not only remember the words of the poem but also the music.

it's a poem by 李煜. written in the later part of his life. 虞姬 was the famous lady of 項羽. 項羽 was a great leader who could have taken over china after the demis of the Qin dynasty, but due to his own arrogance he lost against 劉邦. He could have possibly made a come back if he went back to his old home of 江東 and got support but he was demoralized and lost the will to live when 虞姬 killed herself.
a bit more about that the romance between 虞姬 and 項羽 was probably one of the better celebrated in historical china, even though it ended in tragedy.
項羽 is regarded as the having the highest pure battle prowess on the battlefield in the history of china, which is quite incredible if you consider generals like guan yu, zhang fei, yueh fei. But he lacked strategy and was arrogant.

For your info.this song is a short poem written by an imprisoned emperor Li Hou Chu. It was this poem written in blood that was found on the wall of the prison cell that lead to his instant death. That's why this song is sung so sadly and I used to teach this in chinese music classes for the pupils will not only remember the words of the poem but also the music.

Thanks for the info. I love this - both the song and the angel Teresa Teng who sings it. I first heard of her from the movie Comrades Almost A Love Story, which had some of her music as a sub-plot to the movie. She was beautiful and she had a golden voice. I love her forever.

I must say that the original producer of this video did a good job. The scene, ploting of Teresa to write the lyrics of this on the scroll, the fading at the end... Don't really know the story behind this poem but I perceive her as a sorrowful lady held in captive. The way she walk also "opera style". Traditionally feminine. This is the best production for Ji Duo Chou. THE BEST.

Not too late. I knew her only 3 years ago and she was famous around my time and I missed her success in those days but today I have more than 600 songs in my file and she is giving me great joy with all her beautiful songs

it's a poem by 李煜. written in the later part of his life. 虞姬 was the famous lady of 項羽. 項羽 was a great leader who could have taken over china after the demis of the Qin dynasty, but due to his own arrogance he lost against 劉邦. He could have possibly made a come back if he went back to his old home of 江東 and got support but he was demoralized and lost the will to live when 虞姬 killed herself.

a bit more about that the romance between 虞姬 and 項羽 was probably one of the better celebrated in historical china, even though it ended in tragedy.
項羽 is regarded as the having the highest pure battle prowess on the battlefield in the history of china, which is quite incredible if you consider generals like guan yu, zhang fei, yueh fei. But he lacked strategy and was arrogant.

Yes, it's known as both Ji Duo Chou and Yu Mei Ren. But it's more utterly known as Ji Duo Chou.

no, actually most people know it as yu mei ren as if you see other of the same postings(as in the same song). Although you're not really wrong either since "Ji duo Chou" is also used...well, I guess both is ok..
