They were not drawn by the old original engravers to look like any other thing than representational. These Ithaca Gun animals are a lot like William Morris's work on his tapestries. William Morris is the father of The Arts and Crafts Movement. Search for him online.

Excellent work. I admire anyone who chooses to work in the old way. The deep relief of hammer and chisel cannot imitated. While airgravers and the like may be intricate in the detail the light engraving will never stand up to the test of time. Namely rust..... Deep relief, followed by silver plating, of a pair of colt .45's just cant be beat. Thank you
