I've had this motherboard since December 16 2009 and I've had no problems with it runs smooth, i've got a C3 965be @ 3.8ghz, 4 gigs of Patriot sector 5 ram, Sapphire 5850. Question tho, did he say that if both pci-e are used there both 16x/16x? I thought I remember it being 8x/8x if 2 gpu's are used, and 16x if only one used.
@MYMAnarchy Really? I thought that it was a noticeable difference running at 16x 16x than 8x 8x, I ask because like the other guy I have this motherboard and wanted to run crossfire eventually but I didnt want to upgrade mobo unless the 16x 16x would really make a difference. Thanks
@Aristowi Have u tried it?? . Its not the same actually, u can have a better performance if u do notice, I'm terribly sorry about what I've said earlier man :(
@MYMAnarchy I haven't, maybe I will with this motherboard and upgrade when SATA 3 and USB 3.0 becomes a standard. As far as I know there is a difference, but maybe its not a huge difference worth upgrading right now. Thanks commenting back
I would really like to know this, if i've accidently broken 1 of the 4 pins in the CPU fan connector, will i then be able to use the SYS-FAN2 instead? (also 4-pin)
This is a great board!!! I used it for my first build and it out performs most. However, MSI has the best AMD board out there. Its the MSI 790FX-GD70. It has 4 X 16 PCI Express 2.0 slots. I am buying my 2nd one for my next build. If anyone can prove me wrong on this TELL ME! I have looked and looked for a better MB and can not find.
but i dont really see the point of usb 3.0. i mean, your mouse has better signals? big deal? i mean over here in my country, its 30 dollars more than this board. And, i think, im not really sure, the only difference is SATA 3 and usb3.0
I was shopping for these boards recently, difference between 790XTA-UD4 vs 790XT-UD4P:
XTA-UD4 has SATA3, USB3, +1 PCI, -1 x1 slot, eSATA on panel vs card, advertises higher memory OC speed.
That's all the differences I found.
I agree, SATA3 and USB3 seem pretty pointless, and given that this is a first-gen implementation, the controller chips for those features probably suck anyway. I remember all the problems with early USB1 controllers, early SATA, etc.
HyperTransport 3.0 technology links and dual PCI Express 2.0 graphics interfaces (running at x8 and x8) for ATI CrossFireX support. It says x8 x8, but in the movie he say x16
FYI, this board actually supports 16GB of memory, not 12GB. Albert made that mistake. I even did some research just to be sure and all states that it supports 16GB.
great board I have it. but the manual and software that comes with it is terrible compared to my old asus board. gigabyte needs to do much to solve this!!!
He is it ok if you can make a review on the GA-790XTA-UD4 motherboard. Its really nice and i like to use it but you should do it for people that dont really know much about this motherboard.
Very good, solid motherboard this - owned one for about 6 months now with a Phenom II 955 Quad 3.2Ghz, 4GB Corsair XMS3 1600Mhz RAM & Gainward Radeon HD 4870 X2 GLH Graphics card.
Absolutely love it - Far better bang-for-buck than intel solutions. This rig is fast enough for what I need it to do application wise and still great for gaming on. I can run Crysis maxed out in detail settings etc @ 1920x1080 and still get on average 35fps which is still very respectable at such a high resolution.
AMD boards don't support Nvidia SLI, but they support Crossfire. YOu can hook up 2-way Crossfire on this board, and I think you might be able to do Quad but they are x16/x8.
I dont know exactly what do you mean by stable, but for me it is, havent had any trouble, I can run Dragon age maxed with 8x AA over 60 fps, COD4 maxed over 80 fps and Crysis in high, no AA with an average of 45-50 fps (in very high it drops to 25 fps but its still playable), so its pretty cool.
As far as I know, its ok to have any video card with an AMD motherboard, they just cant do SLI but they do Crossfire instead (something with SLI license, intel can do both), For 1 card, can do both.
ATI currently has the fastest single and dual card on the market. So although your OPINION in cards are on your side, you are still wrong with technology not being on your side.

Use the purple SATA ports since they're controlled by a different hardware chip. I believe SB750 SATA is all or nothing RAID, so if you use the normal cluster of 6, you can't use the other 4. The manual has instructions for using the Purple (I think it's referred to as Gigabyte SATA RAID). That's how I have mine set up.
I'm really considering this board but curious of what performance increase I would see from my current DDR2 1066Mhz set up on an AM2+ with a Phenom X4 9950 @ 3.2Ghz. Hoping this board will let me squeeze it to 3.4Ghz

if i'm going to use two gpus in the future, do I need a big 12V rail ?
Is A Corsair 650TX with one 12V rail on 52A or a Cooler Master Real Power M620 620W with 3rails and together is 57A ? can they run a Crossfire setup with two 4890 ?
This board does not take DDR3 ram, I know because I bought some and it did not fit. DDR2 and DDR3 both come in 1066 mhz. This may be what confuses people!
Okay ive got a question i oen this board with an AMD 955 6gb ddr3 and id like to get 2 4890s and go crossfire, But i also want physix. I was wondering if anyone knows if this motherbored has enough PCI slots to handle that. ty
with intel cancelling out the 775 socket CPUs and with the only other option i7 so expensive, my only option for a motherboard that is future proof is the AM3 and AM2+ DDR3 motherboards!
Ofc i can prove it. -Altough DDR3 has higher frequencies. it has high latencies. which low latencies = faster. if you still dont beleive me, watch this vid:
AMD is just as good for gaming as intel i7 but cost less! My PC Upgrade: AMD 550 X2 cpu. $99.99 G.skill 4GB ddr3 1333 $65.00 Gigabyte 790XT UD4P am3 $129.99 XFX ATi 4890 1GB video card $199.99 corsair 650W psu $99.99 WD 160GB Sata HD $39.00 DVD-Drive $25.00 $658.96 Wake up and smell the coffee!
Yeah baby! I have tis board! yeeey! I have this with the AMD black edition phenom quad core 3.2ghz! Really awesome stuff! I love AMD, sure you guys do too!
With amd's new am3 motherboards it is unlikely to run all slot's at 1600mhz its an overload for the memory controller on the processor you must find ram that is capable to run 1600mhz with all slots enabled. My ga-ma790xt-ud4p or GSKILL ddr3 160mhz ram was DOA :( RMA

ooh... gigabyte's site says so too :( "Dual Channel DDR3 1666+ for remarkable system performance" sooo... sorry boss, you lose!
DDR2 can't be overclocked to 1600mhz ...
if ti was ddr2 mobo why would you put 1600 mhz supporting chipset when ddr2 is 1333mhz maximum (achieved by overclock)
shigalbigal 2 years ago
what are you talking about? gigabyte made 2 790x chipset boards, one is am2/am2+, and one is am3. i thikn YOU are confused bud.

were's the VGA slot or DVI slot????
jjgg263804 2 years ago
uh.. this is the 790XT not GX.. so this doesnt have an integrated graphics card
superharry626 2 years ago
Thank god, stops people even thinking of using integrated graphics on a board that has 2x pci-e slots
BionicNoodleX 2 years ago
use a graphics card
ArnoldHC 2 years ago
NO integrated graphix, therefore no slot.

Okay ive got a question i oen this board with an AMD 955 6gb ddr3 and id like to get 2 4890s and go crossfire, But i also want physix. I was wondering if anyone knows if this motherbored has enough PCI slots to handle that. ty
halohectic 2 years ago
Asus has some AM3 mother boards with 4 or more PCIE x16 slots.
sacrenough 2 years ago
yep, it has 2 pci-e slots,
BionicNoodleX 2 years ago
If you used the old school Ageia Physx card that was PCI, then yes it does

with intel cancelling out the 775 socket CPUs and with the only other option i7 so expensive, my only option for a motherboard that is future proof is the AM3 and AM2+ DDR3 motherboards!

Guys wake up...
Core i5 is on the way there are i5 socket motherboards released (but still not on the marker :{ )
Core i7 is going to cost cheaper when i5 and i3 cpus come on the market

Ofc i can prove it. -Altough DDR3 has higher frequencies. it has high latencies. which low latencies = faster. if you still dont beleive me, watch this vid:

in this /watch?v=wAgdG7uN6zo video at 0:24
he says DDR3 is faster, has more bandwith.
2point6x4 2 years ago
yes i know. but it has high latency cycle the DDR 2 has like 5-5-5-14
kidowner 2 years ago
my DDR3 is running at CL 8-8-8-21

You can use DDR1600 :)
Krempaz 2 years ago
no such thing retard.

look what kassu asked about r-tard
Krempaz 2 years ago
there's still no such thing as ddr 1600.
zomgerln 2 years ago
OMG ARE U THAT Stupid ? He asked about DDR3 1600Mhz so i wrote "you can use DDR1600 "...
Krempaz 2 years ago
and cna i use 1600mhz ram on it?
kassu09 2 years ago
yeah
tippete123 2 years ago

kassu09 2 years ago
