the proportions, rotational rates are inacurate & confusing
@ 2:17 it's saying that "after this day it's spring in the northern hemisphere" but the animation lets the earth make a whole rotation around the sun, which is equivalent to 4 seasons... (and same for the fall...) again, confusing!!!
Um...this confuses me...are they saying that you can be in winter in Alaska, get on a plane and fly to south america and suddenly it will be summer? That makes no sense at all. I was under the impression it was cold in December no matter WHERE you are on the planet...
Yes, if you didn't like Winter and had the money to travel, you could avoid it completely! Spend May - Sept in the Northern Hemisphere, then travel to the Southern for Oct - April and you will avoid the Winter.
just saying more, not only does it not get really cold, it gets really freakin hot! On new years eve you can go out wearing shorts and t shirt at midnight! On black saturday, (Feburary 7 2009, look up on wiki if you don't know what that is) in melbourne, it got to 46 degrees celsuis! That's almost 115 degrees Farenheit! I just can't belive how hot it gets, on an average January day, you may even expect 30 - 35 degrees, i dont know how i last each summer... 46 degrees, remember that now. SOO hot.
today is the day before spring equinox, in australia, summer is coming up in december finally! Seems i get about 15 hours daylight in summer, cause i live in melbourne. You know what i never got, it always snows in america and europe in winter, but in july here (middle of winter) there is no snow. Sometimes its sunny even. I mean come on, we're pretty close to the south pole for god's sake! I've only seen snow in the mountains.
@1:45 and for a good bit after that, the video show the equator being parallel to the plane of the ecliptic, which would make it's tilt 0 degrees. But earlier, it said the earth's axis has a 23.5 degree tilt. Thus, this video makes it seem that the earth axial tilt changes throughout the years, which is wrong.
This video will confuse any one who does not already know how the seasons work.
@DNAunion They just neglect to clearly show the that axis of the earth is tilted perpendicular to the direction of the sun and away from the viewer. They don't actually say anything wrong. This is hard to show without 3d models. I just wish the narrator spoke more naturally. In an effort to be slow and clear she comes across as stilted, irregular and boring.
@DNAunion Can you please tell me the actual tilt of the earth from it's imaginary north/south exist which is 23.5 degrees, is it towards the left or the right? And yes i do agree with you on the during the both equinoxes, the video gives the idea that the earth tilted exactly north/south, which contradicts it's earlier statement that the earth tilts 23.5 degrees from it's exist. thank you.
i cant focus on the video cus the voice puts fantasies into my head
