No comments on the Sharpedo vs. Sharpedo? Focus Sash got knocked out and the most AMAZING thing, landing on 1 HP, still happened. Deep down, Sharpedo never really needed the Focus Sash, did it?
I think Sceptile's strategy (or rather, your opponent's) to set up a substitute that would survive two hits. That way they could execute Focus Punch successfully, and knock out your Tauros.
what the hell is with all of these sub sceptiles?!?!?!?! i dont use substitute and Aloha (my female sceptile) kicks ass! She is jollly natured and is physical attack.
Wow, Looked bad at the start, but seemed to even out near the end. I am not used to using just 3 pokemon. I use a Mono-team.. So Yeah, it not as easy for me, but good win on your part, though.
Im hearing that everyone is saying speed tie, counter, endeavour, etc.... what about a misclick? Maybe he/she had one of those moves, but it was a misclick...
Definitely a speed tie. No reason to put Counter with Sub-Petaya and no reason to use Roar with one Pokemon left. You were just unlucky not to outrun Sceptile three times in a row. Good battle.
It is definitely not Roar, there was only one Pokemon left, why would she bother? Counter seems unlikely too since Sceptile's HP was so low, I think speed tie for sure.
It may just be a speed tie. The other trainer may have been setting up to get that Sp. Def. boost, then may have used energy ball, and the speed tie could have had you go 1st. That or a Counter/Roar type attack of some kind as a misclick? Well, Awesome match. I loved the Sharpedo mirror match.
I cant believe that Sceptile wouldve used a negative priority move while it was on that amount of HP. Possibly it was accidental but its still hard to believe. I think the most likely explanation is a speed tie with sceptile getting the breaks most of the time. Nothing else i can think of is an explanation - it wasnt holding a lagging tail/iron ball, it wasnt paralyzed, it hadnt had a speed drop. I think it was just 50/50 as to who went first.
Tauros' base speed is 110, Sceptile's is 120, it's not a ridiculous notion that you might've tied for base speed with Sceptile being lucky. Though (s)he might've used Counter/Roar by accident...tough call, good match though
The only thing I can think of is either Roar or Counter. Counter is very unlikely, but he might not have known that Roar was negative priority. Other than that, I don't know. Very weird.
you are so dam lucky your sharpedo lived through that earthquake with 1 HP, especially after his focus sash was broken by the other sharpedo's rough skin.
hmmm that's odd, did you exchange friend passes at all? I think knowing the rest of that Sceptile's moveset is the key to finding out what happened. Because looking at stats alone, a speed tie is already so far fetched since there's such a wide gap between their speed. So ya... I think the only way to solve it is to just look at that Sceptile. He had to have used a last turn move but I don't know what he could have done in combo with a Petaya Berry on a Sceptile... =/
Tauros vs Sceptile... things that can happen is that Tauros's move is a Crit (i noticed that sometimes a critical hit goes first somehow) OR in this case but i am not sure... it had Counter for some reason ??? but that is all i can think off
Tauros outrunning Sceptile was really odd, and the only thing I can guess about that is that they both had the same Speed. It may not sound right, but that's what I think might have been the case at the time.
Yeah, but I was under the impression that a speed tie would mean one of the pokemon would go first one turn, and then the other would go first the following turn, and it'd keep going back and forth like that.
That wasn't the case here as Tauros was slower all those times that Sceptile used Substitute before that last turn where it was faster.
I'm fairly confident the Sceptile had used a Countering attack of some sorts. Also, it looked like the Aerodactyl was Choiced, but it was highly unecessary.
Dang... your Sharpedo hung on by a thread Angelo. This is such a great battle. I believe that Sceptile had a Salac Berry which explained how it outsped your Tauros. That's what I believe. I could be wrong.
Nah, the problem is that the Sceptile WAS faster than my Tauros, but then the turn after his Petaya Berry activated for some reason my Tauros moved before his Sceptile.
There's no logical reason for why that would have happened other than it had used a negative priority move, unless I'm missing something.
Uh, I can't, firstly because they're Japanese and secondly because I have no way of contacting them. This is random wi-fi, there's no way to track people you've played
Flinch Hax on Gliscor.. Poor Gliscor.. And that Sceptile vs Tauros was weird. I can't think of any grass moves which have a negative priority. Unless it used Revenge or Whirlwind, I have no idea. And I know it doesn't matter and you wouldn't of know he would switch into Sharpedo, but if you had predicted a switch to Sharpedo, and used Earthquake, then Aqua Jet, you would have gotten a free Aqua Jet onto Sceptile, dealing a small chunk of damage.
Substitute, Substitute, Substitute.

How can it be a speed tie?
Sceptile's base speed is 120 while Tauros's base speed is 110. =\
It's probably he miss-click a move that would allow it to go last or something.
Fate568 1 year ago
@Fate568 Low speed IV and/or less EVs in speed could also contribute to making it a speed tie as well.

also i think her sceptile should be faster than your tauros becasue mine is 327 speed at lvl 100. idk probably a more sp attack sceptile than speed.

Sceptile can learn Counter in Emerald as a move tutor move, or just Roar.
Good match Btw
Zereocross 2 years ago
The best conclusion I can come to is sceptile used endevour
Does that move go second?
ninetalescommander 2 years ago
@ninetalescommander I'm pretty sure endeavour has a neutral priority and is affected by speed im not certain though.
ChickasaurusRS 2 years ago
You could be right.
Actually you are right. Endeavour does have neutral priority
Best conclusion I can come to is a move that always goes second like counter
ninetalescommander 2 years ago
hmmm, i don't roar is the case, so i think he used counter
supersteelpokemon 2 years ago
Tied speed is all I can think of because you don't see Roar too much on a sub-seeding Sceptile.
Great job.

To maybe sort out the Sceptile and Tauros thing, does a Petaya Berry raise Sp. Atk but lower Speed?

Has anyone else noticed that after using almost any type of move (like Fire for instence)
The announcer says "The Colusseum is burning with excitment"
Anyone else notice that?

Tauros is just a beast, quite literally; it decides who it wants to go faster. u_u
NovaDon130 2 years ago 8
perhaps the game let your tauros to go first before sceptile attacked so you could get even from that flinch hax gliscor got from that aerodactyl lol
Randhawa7654321 2 years ago
I think it's a speed tie, and you just got lucky that 1 time outspeeding him.

your tauros was jolly probaly and his sceptile had a neutral speed nature if i am right...

Whenever it comes to tauros outspeeding sceptile, sceptile used subsitute non stop before you outsped it. doesnt subsitute always go first?
