  • Discovered Gerald Wilson while visiting the Audio recording center while stationed in Ubon Thailand in 1968 I recorded the "Live LA album" featuring Harold Land on trumpet. I had never heard anything remotely like this music ever before. The west coast swing!!!! Also recorded Miles Davis "Kinda Blue" that same night. Haven't been the same since. WOW!!!

  • This is the better version because of the inclusion of guitar(Joe Pass) which is missing in the "live in LA" version done on April 1, 1967. You can find it on the "Moment of Truth" album.

  • finaly i get to hear the original Gerald Wison with this song ahhhk great

  • OH How I will miss this man this year at The 2011 Detroit Jazz Festival. For some reason since I don't when he's not on the line up. Last day of the festival last year we all got to celebrate his 93rd birthday with him. It was an awesome Jam off with his players, The Manhattan Transfer and players from all the other stages who performed that night. Sax's riffing off each other, Trumpets!!!

Man you thought you were back in a 1950s Jazz Club listening to Dizzy and Bird. They Tore Up The Joint!

  • Great work Professor Wilson.
